A step above bar food, with dishes that a re a b it out of the ordinary. Have been there on company functions and they have catered for us. Overall well thought out menu and excellently prepared dishes. Nothing pretentious and an excellent bar.

On several occasions I have been a walk in customer at this location. Virtually every time the team was unaware that a customer was in the store. In my opinion, the store is Laid-out in a way that inhibits the view of the store personnel. Nonetheless, when they detect a presence, it doesn't appear to alter their seemingly oblivious behavior. In my most recent visit, I stood at the counter (as the only customer in the store) and waited 45 seconds to be noticed, then the two counter personnel continued their conversation another 30 seconds, uninterrupted, before I left for Starbucks down the street. This store, like the Panera store nearby, seems to suffer from a lack of appreciation for the importance of service in a service business.

Beautiful setting in the town's old fire house it also includes a museum
After a long 4 hour drive up from Cape Cod, we decided to have lunch at Ladder 1. What a great decision !!! In an old historic firehouse, the restaurant displays a 1000 piece collection of firefighting photos and memorabilia. Also, it was beautifully decorated for Halloween. MY wife had a seafood dish and I had a Meatball Sub. We enjoyed a glass of wine and a craft beer. The food was excellent, and the service very good. Try this place when in Barre. Leave yourself a little time to check out the memorabilia.

I go here once a month or so. I meet up with friends who live in Barre for dinner.
My friends always get sushi, and I always get the same Bento Box style dinner.
I can't bring myself to order anything else because it's so good. (Also, I lived in Hawaii for 10 years so VT Sushi doesn't often impress my much...)
It comes with a couple of pieces of sushi, a simple yet delicious little salad, a gyoza dumping, rice, a small side of Kimchee, and your choice of meat. I always get the NY Steak option. It's a real NY sirloin! And it is excellent, and always comes cooked as ordered. It's not a huge steak, but it doesn't have to be with all the other stuff you get.
I'm pretty sure it's $15.99!
And, I've never had a bad steak there.
Don't know why it took me so long to review this great place. (So close to 5*s! can I give 4.75*s?)
Great service too. It can be slow when they're jammed, but it's worth the wait, and there's a bar... I think the Sushi is pretty good, for VT.
Give them a shot!

We were apprehensive when we arrived as the outside looks a little bit like a hole-in-the-wall. But we decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised as the inside looks like an old-fashioned luncheonette. Although the service was a little slow, we were acknowledged as soon as we walked in. We each ordered a different platter for breakfast and were very happy with the food. We ended up taking home a box of leftovers because of the generous portions. Prices for breakfast are very reasonable and the eggs were exactly the way we ordered them.

Started by two local guys who want to open an eclectic burrito joint in their childhood home town, Barre, Vermont, Two Loco Guys has burritos & bowls with various protein choices, fresh ingredients to compliment any burrito or bowl, craft beer in the can and even a few dessert options.
Went here with friends for lunch. It's basically a Chipotle where you build your own burrito or bowl, but they have some unique salsas and flavors. I got a pineapple salsa that was delicious. Unfortunately, it was very soggy though, but that may be caused from what I ordered.

You know the food will be good and at a reasonable price if it’s full of locals during the tourist season. I had a burger with fries and cottage cheese as a side. Nothing to brag about but nothing to complain about either. My wife decided on the soup and salad bar. She had two bowls of clam chowder and some wonderful bread along with a plate of various vegetables and greens. She liked the soup, two bowls. Service was fast and friendly and the prices were great. Would go again.

Looking for a delicatessen that offers sandwich catering? If you enjoy sandwich platters and craft beer, book a caterer at Morse Block Deli.

Chose Basils as honestly it was Monday and most of the other restaurants in town were closed. But we weren't disappointed.
I had the mushroom swiss burger, and my dad had the buffalo chicken wings. Both were great meals. Was a little on the pricey side, but still a great meal.
Service was also great and fast.
