A modern restaurant with a bright, positive design, nice European kitchen, good location. Guests of Barnaul - known artists and musicians enjoy visiting this restaurant. But also look natural holding of the restaurant family celebrations and romantic dinners.

Sunday night, the place is totally empty, but very friendly waiter, who can explain anything and can fulfill almost any request and combination. Nice interior, but I wouldn't expect any different from the place recommended as the best in town. We ate well, tasty, except some things didn't taste as we know them tasting, we decided - must be the way they coock this stuff in the region. I'll try Velvet tomorrow and will write a review. By the way, for the party of three we paid around 5600 RUR (€140) and we had no alcohol. I would go back, but only for a special occasion, I guess that's what this place is for in this town. I'll try to find better food for less money.

I went there to compare it with Polzunov. To tell you the truth, I liked Velvet more. But, keep in mind the previous review - Italian with a Russian flair! The other place is really Russian and local speciality place.
Velvet is nice, good food, good service and decent price tag, you're not going to spend all your per diems unless you start wine tasting evening. WRONG!
I'll definately come back if I will get a chance!

"In Vino" is a place with unique "chill-out" interior, European and exclusive signature dishes, background lounge and jazz music, regular wine parties and tastings, professional wine consulting.
In Vino is the place where you can spend a nice moment with your friend. A huge choice of drinks (around 1500) and fine meals.
The team will give you suggestions if you don't know what to take and they know their job. They created three different cocktails for me and three was great, food was also one of the best in Barnaul. The limited choice of desserts is for me the only one problem at this place.
The team is very helpful and they take care of their customers, it's not so often in Russia.

If you've spent any time in Barnaul you'll probably have noticed that a everything is very boring. This cosy little bar/restaurant is a welcome break from all that.
About 5 minutes walk from Alisa Hotel, you'd hardly notice this place unless not notice the light box on the street. Just find yourself a table, order some of the simple but delicious bar snacks (pork, chicken, salmon, buckwheat,), get a bottle of wine and you could spend all evening in this lovely little place. Stuff is also nice and welcoming, prices are reasonable.

Gastropub 13 is a unique place, which combines the main components of the right places. Quality products, author's approach, exquisite dishes, delicious taste and aroma... We invite you to gastronomic journey!
I always try to eat here when visiting Barnaul for more than a day. The restaurant is 5 minutes walk from the Barnaul hotel, and unmeasurably superior to the hotel restaurant in terms of price/quality ratio. Menu is diverse and contains options for every taste; meals delicious; service fast and friendly; and a whole array of beer choices. The place is quite popular and can become noisy at times, especially on weekends; but this is a pub after all... Highly recommended!

We visited a few restaurants on a Friday evening without Reservations. Two places we had been recommended to by locals were full and we couldn't get in. Ieroglif was a short distance from our dreadful Hotel Barnaul so we went in and were happy that the Chinese-Japanese restaurant had a free table for us.
The amount of dishes caugh us by surprise. Over two weeks in Russia to climb Belukha and we hadn't had this much to choose from. First order of business was to have a glass of wine. Ieroglif has a huge selection of wines and spirits to choose from. The Italian, dry red house wine turned out to be excellent. Later on I had another glass.
I don't read or speak Russian, but the menu had good pictures of all the dishes. I had my Russian speaking spouse to help me with anything I couldn't figure out. The staff spoke some English.
We had a few hour long dinner. I chose chicken and vegetable spring rolls along with salad of beef and cucumber with fresh chili for starters. Fresh chili was hiy after not eating anything spicy for a month! After that two main dishes: first chickling teryaki with rice, and second beef with Peking cabbage, bell peppers and onion in spicy sauce. My girlfriend had fish and vegetable salad, and salmon with tiger prawns spring rolls as her starters. For mains she chose dragon sushi.
It was so good to have fresh ingredients in all dishes! In the Mountains in doesn't really matter what is on the plate - you'll eat it anyway. Not the case with Ieroglif. It was a real pleasure to dine there.
The staff was helpfull and happy - just the way you want the staff to be. I'd love to come here for lunch or dinner again!

Coffee House type of cafe. 24h open with good breakfast. Negative is that there is quite limited place for non smokers. Good Stroganoff.

We had our last dinner of 9 days long Southern Siberia trip in this restaurant. Having spent days and nights out in the nature where conditions were really difficult, conforting ourselves in this French restaurant sounded very nice (though personally I would prefer local dishes but we were a group and majority prefered this place). On the right side of the entrance, there is a pastry boutique owned by the same restaurant where you can buy cakes, croissants, cheese and other French specialities. The place was crowded that night (that was a Saturday), therefore I assume it's best to reserve a table ahead. The decoration and service are both okeyish, nothing outstanding. As for the meals, they were not bad either but I can't say they were the best French meals I had. In fact, the meals just looked and sounded French, but they tasted international.... As a tourist in the region, this restaurant would not be on my "must visit" list but if you have tried all major restaurants in the town and want to experience something different, you can try this place...
