This new restaurant in Ungaran, since 2010, is different. They must have a creative chef, who composes dishes not found elsewhere. We had 'seafood soup' with mussels and other delicacies served in a coconut, and 'nasi seafood' with a dry-fried fish, a prawn and other things served on banana leaf.
The iced fruit bowls, like 'es campur strawberry' and 'es mangga muda' too were innovative and fresh.
You have the choice having your meal sitting 'lesehan' (on the floor) the Indonesian way, or on western-style chairs and tables. We prefer the latter, with a view on Ungaran mountain.
By the way, Godong Salam is Javanese for 'salam' leaf. Salam being a fragrant leaf of Syzygium Polyanthum, widely used in Indonesia to add flavour to cooked food.

Good coffee is an elusive drink. Also matter of personal taste. This place, next to a plantation and resort, serves stupendous coffee, something which, ironically, has been hard to fund so far in Java. The cappuccino was one of the best I have ever tasted.
Well worth popping in. You can buy packets of coffee here from the plantation.

This place already exist since decades ago and quite popular among travelers from Jogja to Semarang or vice versa. Despite the name, do not expect for espresso, flat white or affogato. They do have wide range of Indonesian ways of coffee blend, such as Coffee Milk, Coffee Milk with Ginger. Oh and they also have Civet Coffee for an affordable price (~5USD). If you like the coffee, sometimes they also have stock of coffee beans or grounded ones from their own plantation.
Let's talk about the food. You should their specialty of fried tofu, it is really good and people order it a lot here. Their soto or chicken soup is also tasty, works for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
If you travel with kids, they have small playground with pool next to the restaurant. It is a good way to spend time while you're waiting for your food or just want to relax for a bit during the trip.

Other than restaurant were really nice... especially if you are not come on busy hours.
The food from the restaurant was so awful. Most of them were too salty. Fish was not fresh, i dont know how long the fish already frozen.. For this kind of restaurant and the price i would recommend them to find better chef..!!

The satay are so tender with beautiful texture, the taste is great, indulging our palate in every bite. They serve a generous amount of peanut sauce in separate cup. The sauce give unique quality of taste for the satay. Add some chopped onion and chilly then it's a perfect combination. The satay is eaten with rice or "lontong", which is rice steamed in banana leafs. A must visit spot if you're in Ungaran.

Ypu can find a lots variant from their products here.
I love being here, seeing many kind of their products here. Which some of them I've never seen in store.
They have little restaurants too in here, with simple menu and many varieties of snacks. Just a so-so taste.

We ate this gelato at Spiegel. It was among the best gelato I've had - and I've tasted plenty around the world! I enjoyed it again the next day on a second visit. I recommend the salted caramel, strawberries and cream, and almond praline. Yummy!

It's a small coffee shop that uses a small old house. If you are a coffee lover and looking for a good delicious cup of coffee then this is not the place. However, if you are looking for a place to hangout with homemade coffee shake then you come to the right place.

Pondok Kopi is located at Umbul Sidomukti, a well known tourism area in Ungaran Semarang. It is a very nice place for hang out and relax, with a breathtaking view and very good food and coffee as well. But it is not too easy to go there as road is very narrow and steep, make sure your driver is very experience and car is in very good condition.
