No breakfast till september... Reservation for dinner... please call before 18:00 Only cash... Closed on sunday... Facebook : Cafe Caramel Ayvalik
Strolling in the back streets of Ayvalık, admiring the beautiful old stone houses, some renovated, some still in their original but aged condition, you will be happy for a quite break of tea, a good coffee and may be some dessert ... this is the spot ! nostalgic, peaceful, charming ... try their pudings prepared with the season's delightful fruits ... and remember this is an antique shop at the same time :)

Small family owned business. Chief cook lady Emine strictly adheres to the highest standards of quality for cooking. All the items on the menu are made from fresh, hand picked ingredients from local bazaars. Menu consists of mostly mezes and there are some hot dishes as well. Been here for two nights straight (would have been 20 nights straight if I were to stay in Ayvalik) and everything I tried was very delicious. A full course meal with alcohol should cost between 20-40 euros on average. Reservation is a must during high season.
TL;DR: Try this restaurant, there is no chance you will be disappointed.

This is a little old place and quite popular amongst both locals and the tourists for the very right reasons: tasty, fast, authentic and affordable. They recommend the the cookies with mastic but I often prefer the one with sesame paste (tahini). All made with olive oil. And the mastic-flavoured ice cream is also worth trying.

We visited this small cafe by not expecting much however decoration, staff and most importantly the breakfast offered us more than we could have guessed. They serve delicious cheese and jams. Highly recommended!

I have been there twice, once with a large group and then again with my spouse. We had fabulous local dishes and amazing soup. I recommend here to vegetarians as well since they have excellent options for vegetarians, simply because Aegean cuisine is vegetarian-friendly by nature. In both visits, the restaurant was packed yet they were fast in service. Highly recommended

Honestly I hesitated to go in this restaurants since it was by the sea and seemed to be a commercial place rather than a taste location. Then as soon as I went in and saw their display fridge my opinion changed. It was full of mezes of the local products full of taste. Local olive oil makes all the difference, trust me. You can try any thing and they are as good. Still it is not the best ever place...

We found the hotel-restaurant as we wandered through Ayvalik for the first time. From the front it looked smart so we walked in and asked to see the menu. That looked alright too but the deal-sealer was the maitresse'd, who talked us through the options and showed off the meze selection in the chilled display.
Marinated sea bass, marinated beef, seaweed and sea beans, chili yogurt and carrot, your amount of aubergine concoctions, and and and... So we decided to eat there. It was a good decision.
We had a tasting selection of nine of the meze dishes, accompanied by bowls of olives and a basket of bread. The principal diner followed up with grilled baby squid. It was all bang on the mark and we left feeling satisfied.
The location will have had something to do with that: we sat to eat on a little pier and watched as the sun went down. The wait staff helped because they were friendly and attentive without being suffocating. The food helped because it was well-prepared and exactly what we needed.
The only reason Sizma Han doesn't get the full five is that the bread was toasted, not fresh. Pity.
