You can't pass this place without noticing the line of folks waiting to order and the groups who've been served, smiling as they devour the ice cream. Michoacán ice cream is a speciality south of our border and we've been able to enjoy it in Kennett now for 14 years. Friendly and very reasonably priced, a great stop on a summer day.

Wednesday is Seafood Night at the Greathouse with inexpensive appetizers and seafood specials . While all of the food we ordered, there were four of us, was delicious, waiting for it to arrive was exasperating. With only a couple of tables full, the service should have been much better. S L O W is putting it mildly. A slight wait for appetizers lead to an even longer wait for salads, and the main course took forever. The praline pie is so delicious that we all decided to wait it out since we don't plan to go back anytime soon! Our 6:30 reservation with a lovely sunset sometime after 8, it was close to 9 before we left. If you want delicious crabcakes this is the place to go, but just don't be in a rush!

Four friends, officers of a food and wine club, were visiting to check out the food as a possible destination for our club, it is a drive but it is worth it. We shared everything that the server suggested. A mushroom soup that was heavenly. Made with an assortment of mushrooms from a mushroom farm right down the road. We were is the mushroom world and did not know. We were slightly disappointed in the cheese board, the presentation was lovely but the cheeses were rather pedestrian. I think we have had a lot of cheese boards and the cheese selections were better, but the honey was delish as were the toasts and the dried fruit and candied nuts. We also were steered to the Portobello fries, thank you Rose. Never had anything like them and I want to have them every day, I wish we lived closer. They were succulent, full of flavor and perfectly coated with panko that also was salted just right. This kitchen has salting down pat.
We followed with a BLT, perfect. The tomato was flavorful and the bacon crisp, it was wonderful. We also shared the pulled pork with the bleu cheese slaw, a terrific twist and really great. Theses sandwiches were served with their own house made chips, I thought they were among the best I ever had, he could beat Bobby Flay on these.
We had to try a dessert and picked their brown sugar walnut cake with house made vanilla ice cream and a caramel drizzle, Fabulous!!! We shared and it was more than enough for four, with a bit left over. We finished our meal with chat with the chef/owner and asked him if we could bring 40 people and he said yes. It is difficult to have 40 people descend at once but his background is solid and he can handle it.
We know this is going to be a terrific trip for our club and are looking forward to our next visit.

We make fresh ice cream right here on the farm using the milk from our 30+ Jersey cows. The Creamery, to purchase ice cream, sundaes, milkshakes and a number of other treats, is open seasonally.
Always a great family outing, Woodside Farm Creamery has a huge list of flavors. Service is friendly and enthusiastic and prices are reasonable, considering the quality of the ice cream. Don’t miss it.

Located in the heart of historic Kennett Square, Portabello's has something for everyone. Chef Owner, Brett Hulbert's menus offer tempting selections for lunch and dinner! Amazing burgers, artisan soups and sandwiches along with signature dishes which include, Firecracker Shrimp, Mushroom Crepes, Crispy Duck, Short Rib Stroganoff & Shellfish Fra diavolo! Come visit us...we look forward to cooking for you!
Like the great Michelin Starred restaurants in Europe, Portobello’s is worth a special trip - it is so outstanding. As grandfather in a three generation family celebration with seven diners, I got to taste most of the menu.
Among the starters, my favorites were the escargot, the mushroom crepe, and the mushroom soup. Since Kennett Square is the mushroom capital of the world, many dishes feature mushrooms.
Among the mains, the duck and crab cake were among the best I have ever eaten. The steak was superb. Even the side dishes were interesting.
For dessert, the chocolate cake and toffee cake were big hits.
Chef Brett visits every table, interacting happily with his patrons. His wife Sandra manages the floor. Both insure that every morsel delights their diners. John was our efficient and friendly waiter. As is the case with every great restaurant, the meal is a product of caring, competent, and creative people — chef and his staff.

I first dined here roughly a year ago (click on my profile to pull up the review). Basically I said the appetizers and mains were amazing but that the desserts were a bit limited and the wine list was SEVERELY limited and not exciting. I have dined here twice in the last month and BOTH experiences were almost carbon copies of the first time! Our dishes were fabulous, the desserts were "OK" and the wine list remained uninspiring (the wines we ordered weren't bad, they just didn't match up to the great flavors on the dishes!). I would even invite William and Merry to bring me in to help tweak the list (I've been in the wine industry since the 90s). With so many flavors, the wine list almost takes away from the evening (although the cocktails were great!). We'll be back but we'll be hoping for some tweaks with the wine list and the desserts!

Visited for first time. Plenty of parking in the back lot. Wasn't sure what to expect, as place appears small from the front. But plenty of room inside. Restaurant was full with a number of families with young kids.
Started out eating as a couple, but early on in our visit some friends arrived and the staff let us join their table to make a group of 9. Service was excellent. Food was very good. I had the chicken parmigiana. Prices were good, with house red wine very reasonably priced. Also noticed as we were leaving that there was music starting at 9 pm. Appears to be live music on many nights. We will be back to sample the music and food.

Owner operated craft coffee house who celebrates the art and science of brewed coffee. Serving up a thoughtfully prepared menu of breakfast/lunch sandwiches & salads plus great hospitality in a modern/rustic space.
If you want a pour over this is the place. A great variety of hand made, freshly grounds coffees from which to choose. Their oatmeal is outstanding and their breakfast sandwiches were also very good. It's a cute, small place with great service, clean bathrooms and friendly people. It has a very nice vibe to it. I highly recommend.

And guacamole for sure. My chicken enchilada in a spicy Verde sauce was delicious. Phil's bean and chicken chimichanga was smooth and flavorful. Great prices. Carla our server was friendly and helpful. If you are in the area for Longwood Gardens, then stop here before or after. Moi delicious.

After a lovely holiday visit to chilly Longwood Gardens, we used Trip Advisor to find a recommendation for dinner in Kennett Square. Lily's was definitely the perfect choice. They seated us quickly, without a reservation. The menu was somewhat eclectic, though all in the Asian portfolio. My guest ordered filet mignon teriyaki (which was cooked perfectly, and came with a great mix of fresh vegetables). I had Bang Bang crisp shrimp, with honey walnuts. Again, the flavors were spot on, ingredients fresh and portions generous. I would highly recommend this venue, but bring your own wine if that is something you enjoy with dinner.
