Ocean Grill is ocean front dining just steps away from the sand in beautiful Avila Beach! Stop in today and try some of the most delicious and creatively prepared cuisine in San Luis Obispo county!
Came here because of the positive reviews. Service was good but their idea of “bread and butter while you wait for your meal” was laughable. It was more like crumbs and butter. I ordered the poke tacos (3 for $15) because I LOVE poke usually. The tacos here were terrible!! They were sour?! Why?! I didn’t complain because I try not to be “that person”, and I was so starving, I ate them anyway...I will not return though. The ambiance was kinda boring too considering the location and menu prices. Disappointed.

Serves breakfast and lunch. Also a gift store and ice cream shop.
We loved Avila Beach, even though our visit there was on an overcast and breezy day. Having an ice cream seemed the thing to do and we opted for the Hula Hut and Doc Burnstein's Ice Cream. I had the pecan flavour, 1 scoop of which was more than enough. My companion went for the sundae option, with a dollar more getting fudge sauce, nuts, cream and cherries. It looked good and wasn't too pricey. Good selection of flavours, nice shop, helpful staff.

Wife and I stopped in here after visiting the Avila Barn. We were in dire need of coffee, and when we saw the Kraken mural through the window, we knew we'd found our spot for the morning.
It's a very hip little space, with a case of ice cream, small offering of hipster gifts, and cheerful staff greeting us upon entry. We asked the barista what the "Tuxedo" and "Mexican" mocha flavors were and she explained, so we ordered our mochas hot and stepped aside to wait. Tuxedo, in case you're wondering, is white and dark chocolate mixed together. The Mexican was a chocolate and spice blend. "Not TOO spicy," the barista qualified.
After a short wait, our drinks were ready and we were on our way. They were at a temperature that didn't destroy our mouths and we were able to immediately enjoy the goodness; and they were indeed good. We commented a few times to each other that they were better than we could have hoped, and it might be fair to acknowledge that it's been awhile since we've had something that wasn't Starbucks. Even so, these were seriously delicious mochas, and we're looking forward to returning tomorrow to try another flavor, or perhaps sample their root beer on tap.

The restaurant fronts the beach and that is why we chose it. We are glad we did.The service and ambiance were very nice and the costs were reasonable. But it is the food we liked best.
On our first visit I had fish and chips which were quite good and my wife gave her fish special an “A.” The portions were large and the menu was wide-ranging. There is also a pizza and sandwich shop attached.
On our recent visit my wife loved her shrimp & scallop dinner and superb quinoa side. I gave my taco salad a B+. It was huge and good, but it was layered, which made eating it less pleasant for me. As far as we are concerned this place is a real winner and we will be back.

Great place to stop for a healthy bite to eat after a hike. The islanders delight is really good. The regular bowl is massive for one person. If you are sharing - go with the large & it's still very filling & healthy. The coconut, granola & fruit on top (and granola on the bottom) take it over the top. I was so inspired by my last visit I now make something similar in my vitamix at home.
Only criticism is that the staff employed are young & not very helpful. They often give off the feeling that you are boring & bothering them & sometimes are just plain rude.

Early morning get coffee and go. Or sip and have a pastry with a quiet surrounding. Ok value. Get regular coffee not flavored for less $. Or splurge for flavored. My choice.

Dine on fresh, delicious seafood, grab a drink at the bar and enjoy the awesome views from the Harford Pier in Avila Beach.
Unless you want steamed clams, then tacos it is! Fish tacos -small sautéed fish pieces in good-sized corn tortillas; 2 tacos per plate; plenty to eat. Jalapeño pepper on the side.
Fries- side order is huge and good for 2 to share these crispy, tasty fries.
Iced tea with lemon slice if you wish; no straw- less waste to landfill.
Fun to sit outdoors here and listen to the seals bark at each other and fight over space on a floating dock. Below me are sleeping seals.

Went to the restaurant for lunch, and enjoyed the location at the San Luis Bay Port, and also the lunch. We had the Crab and Lobster Open-face Sandwich, Seafood Philly and the Shrimp Poor Boy. They were wonderful!!! Yes, a little pricy, but the seafood was fresh tasting. Even the fries were done well. While we were there a ship's captain came in for a meal while his boat was hoisted and cleaned.

High quality frozen desserts, non-fat, low-fat, non-dairy, no sugar added, gluten free, all natural, and vegan options. Lots of fresh local fruit.
This is one of those self serve frozen yogurt places where you get your yogurt and toppings and then pay by weight. The lady that worked here was very nice and offered samples of any flavor. To my surprise there were many different flavors and more toppings than I usually see at similar places. There were 3 tables inside where we ate at one of them. Place was bright and clean.
