Our family from US was commenting that perhaps the burgers we had at Cortelli's were the very best in Canada. Indeed, they were good. And the service was personable and cheerful, if casual.
The place is modest serving burgers, pizzas and Chinese food so we were not quite sure what we were getting into, but all turned out better than I was anticipating. Worth a visit!

Since opening in early 2011, Cafe Postino has been delighting patrons. Its devoted clientele is a blend of locals, tourists and business people that keep coming back for the authentic Italian cuisine, the distinctive ambience and the excellent service. Located in a vintage Post Office in the heart of downtown Almonte, Cafe Postino is the realization of owners Steve and Claire Falsetto's vision of having a restaurant in the community they now call home. Having owned numerous restaurants in Ottawa and Miami, they bring decades of culinary experience to their customers, and it shows! Steve draws upon family recipes from his roots in southern Italy using the most flavourful and freshest of ingredients to create preservative-free homemade dishes. He takes pride in the traditional pastas, sauces and custom desserts that are made at the cafe. The wine list is carefully chosen by Steve to complement the meals, including the daily specials offered at both lunch and dinner. As an accredited interior designer, Claire has transformed the space in the Old Post Office while retaining its original architectural details. With its understated European flair, the cafe offers a casual and classy setting for celebrating with family and friends, meeting with clients or simply enjoying a relaxing meal. Together, Steve and Claire have refined the art of extending hospitality to their guests. And, with their passion for serving delectable meals at reasonable prices, they look forward to welcoming you to Cafe Postino. Reservations are recommended.

relatively new restaurant, opebed a few months back, see town listing at http://www.mississippimills.ca/tourism/articleListing.cfm?articleListingId=298
It was a gorgeous, HOT, fall day for my first visit to the very charming community of Almonte. It's a delightful place to spend the day visiting shops and galleries. We stopped here for lunch and were not disappointed. I had the vegetarian lasagna crepe - very good and very filling. The service was excellent. I'd definitely return.

Equator is a unique cafe and coffee roastery featuring fair trade organic coffee and espresso beverages and a variety of baking and light meal options. Enjoy the monthly changing art wall and great selection of coffee accessories and fair trade gifts. Pick up a bag of freshly roasted coffee. Roastery tours by request.
This is a very nice, casual coffee shop with comfortable Seating, including an outdoor patio area. The decorations are fun and interesting too. They serve great, freshly ground coffee -- we always take a bag home with us. But its not just the coffee, because...MoreThank you Andy!

I am not enamoured of pub food but this place was a recommend. We ate outside on the upper deck with a lovely view of the dams. The service was good, the beer chilled. My Sandwich was grilled mozzarella with tomato and pesto on sour dough bread accompanied by French fries. The Sandwich was OK, the fries very good. My husband did enjoy the Canada 150 chicken with back bacon and cheese Sandwich. The onion wings were also good. So really when all is said and done "average " covers it.

This quaint little tea room was very fulfilling. It had a charming environment with a beautiful warming stone wall cascading down the whole length of the restaurant. Enjoying a piece of its world renowned butterscotch pie after my lunch of home made quiche and salad was perfect! I have returned again and again already and plan too for a long time to come :)

Upon recommendation of a friend who lived in Almonte most of her life, Hubby and I went for lunch at the Superior Restaurant this past week. It was late on a Thursday afternoon when we went in but there was a good crowd. You can tell it is a local spot with a regular clientele.
The booth behind us was a group of young people from Tennessee. One of the young men had gone to the Superior with his Mom as a boy and he had fond memories of it. He was really pleased to be back and to find that not a lot had changed and the waitress joked she'd been there so long that she very likely had served him back then as well. :)
This is a very laid back, casual eatery. The restaurant probably hasn't been revamped or renovated in many, many, many years, so do not go for the decor......but if you are craving a low key lunch, a Sandwich for $4.50, homemade soup and baking, go.
I couldn't believe how good the prices are. Hubby and I both chose the Hot chicken Sandwich which was a lunch special that day including either soup (Beef with Barley) or juice, fries and veggies for $9.95. I would have loved to try the soup but knew there was no way that I could eat the soup and the Hot chicken so I went with a glass of tomato juice.
The Hot chicken was conceivably one of the best we've ever had and we've had a lot of Hot Chicken sandwiches in our time. The gravy is top shelf, the chicken plentiful. It was awesome. The cooked mixed veggies I didn't even touch. I don't care for them in the first place and there was so much food that I had no room anyway.
The waitress was awesome. Efficient, quick, friendly....you can tell she knows what's she's doing and she does it well.
We will totally go back to the Superior restaurant. I'm thinking about my next Hot Chicken Sandwich already. :)

Locally owned and operated coffee shop in the heart of downtown Almonte. You'll find friendly staff, fresh food and a full service espresso bar. We serve Fluid Coffee, all the way form Clayton, homemade chai mix, teas, specialty baking, soups, salads and seasonal specials all made fresh on site. If you plan on stopping by for Curry Friday be sure to call and we'll save you one!
You will have to patient when you go to this place. The staff is polite but it seemed that they were a bit in the weeds on the day that we went there. It's a comfortable place with lounge chairs mixed with tables. If there's no hurry, they will get to you.

After eating the fish tacos off 'The Cuban Mix' food truck my wife and I looked at one another and shook our heads in a negative manner. I decided not to write a review because I don't like giving 'poor' reviews of small, possibly new, and/or struggling businesses. Today, we ordered the same meals, fish tacos, at 'Reliable Fish & Chips' on Queen St. East in Toronto and were blown away. Both the quality and quantity at 'Reliable' blew 'Cuban Mix' right out of the water. So I changed my mind about writing a review. Sometimes when something's bad you've got to just shout it out.
