Oh ... maybe because Alamogordo doesn’t have a DQ!!! That was a wonderful accident. We discovered Caliche’s.
Love frozen custard. And, these walk ups, like Andy’s, Sheridan’s, etc. are the best.
My wife had the key lime sundae. I had a hot fudge sundae. Both were tasty to the last drop.
Unusual, but you could have a New Mexico Chile custard, along with a Nathan’s hot dog or a Fritos Chili Pie. Yum, but my stomach rebelled at the thought.

This is a neat little cafe. they have sandwiches, pastries, & items of that nature also several kinds of coffee drinks. What I like most is the casual atmosphere. There round tables that you see students studying at. Small groups in a sofa setting visiting. Also a great patio area with a "killer view" of Alamogordo as the cafe sits at the foothills of the Sacramento mountains overlooking the city. The University of New Mexico/Alamogordo is just up the road, so it is heavily frequented by the college crowd as well as locals & passing tourists.

We stopped here for an early dinner of burgers. On the order form, we proceeded to check off what we wanted on our burgers. For hubby, a half-pounder with usual toppings, for me a quarter-pounder with toppings. One of us ordered fried onion rings, the other sweet potato fries. As far as burgers go, these were fine, but not great. In fact, hubby thought the bun was the best part. The sweet potato fries were Great! The onion rings were bland and definitely not homemade – skip those for sure. We would not return.

We stopped for breakfast based on another Trip Advisor review. Incredible green chili burrito - piping hot savory ground beef, potatoes with green Chile wrapped in a homemade tortilla - and an equally amazing pumpkin empanada. Hard not to sample every tantalizing pan dolce in the case!

Very casual. You order at the counter and they put your food into a to-go plastic container that you can eat at outside picnic tables or one of the inside tables. Pour your own fountain drinks. Carnitas, brisket, Turkey, sausage, pulled pork. Potatoes, beans, mac and cheese are some fo the sides. Choice of jalapeño cornbread or yeast roll with the dinners- the roll was served cold and not very tasty. The Potato Bowl was served in a styrofoam bowl layered with potatoes, your choice of one side and one meat - very tasty with pork carnitas. We arrived just after 8:00 pm on a Wednesday and were the only customers till closing at 9 pm. Generous portions and good prices. There were pies and cobbler that looked good, but we had no room to try them.

Homemade, wonderful mexican food. Everything made from scratch daily. Stand in line, they build your burrito in front of you and it's really good. Salsa bar on the side so you can top it how you want it. Only problem is they close at 2pm so don't sleep in or you'll miss it.

If you want $3.00 burgers go to McDonalds. If tattoos offend you or short shorts, not for you.If you can wait for a good meal, yes, If you want fancy dining, not for you!Smoking is ok.
We have eaten here 2 times. The first time it was good. Dog friendly patio. Old fashioned curbside ordering. SOMETIMES if the waitstaff isn't too busy. There are 2 small tables inside. Rest is patio seating and in your car.
We ordered the hamburger lunch. First time it was good.
2nd trip was a disaster. Cold soggy fries. Waitstaff never came so we walked inside.Worse was the groups of people on the patio enjoying their smokes. The smoke was everywhere. We tried sitting in our car with the windows open but the smoke permeated the car.
So if you enjoy a good burger with out the smoke go to Rocky j's. Just down the road.

I stayed here for a few nights on a recent business trip to the area. It was my first visit to this HGI but I have stayed in many others, and I found this one to be typical. That’s a good thing; these hotels are generally upscale, usually well maintained, and clean. There is always a decent restaurant on the premises, usually with a bar. This HGI was no exception. It is located in downtown Yuma and easy to find, you get off I-8 at Exit 1 and it’s just a few blocks. The food is good and the service was good too. My room was clean, quiet and well kept. I can’t compare this place to other hotel options in Yuma, but you won’t go wrong staying here.

One of the Best in Town
The small restaurant tucked into this old-style drug and curio store is actually one of the best and most authentic New Mexican restaurant in town, as any local can tell you. All the menu items are excellent but the red Chile, for which they are famous, really stand out. Try anything on the menu and (assuming you like New Mexican food) you won’t be disappointed – but I am especially partial to the enchiladas. Be warned, the place is small and very popular.

Steak!
Went to dinner at Cowboys Grill steakhouse, which is on US54 just west of the bridge on the south side of town a few blocks, on Lavelle. It is a large square dining room, sparsely decorated and with the tables remarkably spread apart. No bumping into your neighbor here. The acoustics are terrible, it sounds like being in a big garage. I was seated within a minute of walking in the door and the server showed up about 3 minutes later. This is a steakhouse, plain and simple. The steaks come with the salad bar and one side dish. The salad bar was pretty standard, but there were a lot of choices available. My steak arrived within 10 minutes of walking in the door. I had a large ribeye which was delicious, and took part of it home. The portions here are huge and the food is good if a little on the plain side. If you like steak, you’ll like Cowboys.

Great for Breakfast
As the name implies, this place is for breakfast and they do it very well. This is a diner, pure and simple. The food is very good and the portions are large. Big menu, lots of options. It wil very crowded during the breakfast rush, especially on the weekend, so plan on coming early or late or be prepared to wait. Once seated you will find the service to be good, at least in my experience. The atmosphere isn’t anything to write home about – but then again, it’s a diner!

Popped in for dinner and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was great,
the service was good and the margaritas were spectacular! I would especially recommend the Chile rellenos - really excellent. Even something as simple as the chips and dip are really good. Bottom line - I recommend this very good restaurant!

They use Boar's Head meats, sandwiches made to order while you watch. Not fancy, but clean and efficient. Usually several deserts offered in the cold case. It is a good option
