Delicious meal of locally sourced shrimp with fried green tomatoes. Another wonderful entre tried was the redfish citron with sides of mac n cheese and creamed corn. The creamed corn is an in house specialty that is a must. Good service and a plus was there was not corkage charge on a bottle of wine we brought. Worth a return visit.

Super casual poboy shop . Always packed so plan to wait. THE BEST roast beef poboy anywhere. Perfect bread, loaded with meat and just the right amount of gravy! I usually get half roast beef and a half fried shrimp because I can't decide which is best.

OK, but limited pastry offerings, as well as seating. Friendly, just nothing special. Considering the location, lacks ambiance and quaintness. Nothing there to entice a return visit.

There weren't many customers here when we visited at lunchtime on a Tuesday, so the interior of the restaurant seemed cavernous. But it was comfortable, and the staff members were friendly and helpful.
They offer flights of their craft beer, which is brewed at the Abita Brewery in nearby Covington. They have a good selection of pub food, as well as some intriguing menu items such as boudin-stuffed quail and pecan-crusted catfish. My husband and I split a combination seafood po-boy sandwich served with fries. It was plenty of food for the two of us. The others in our party ordered a hamburger, and grilled shrimp Caesar salad. Their received generous portions of food also.
The food was very good. The seafood tasted fresh.
They have nice selection of logo-merchandise for sale at the front of the restaurant. We had an enjoyable meal, and would come back here again if we're ever in the neighborhood.

Great service, friendly, courteous server. She recommended Eggs Sardou. They were scrumptious. Perfectly prepared hollandaise and poached eggs with rich creamy spinach and artichokes. Yummy! Can't wait to stop in again on future travels through the area.

Client recommended Gallaghers and as we were leaving, called out to recommend the strip steak which I gotta say, was awesome. Broiled in garlicly butter and cooked precisely as requested. Service impeccable and sides portions ample. Will definitely return on next trip.

It has been around for YEARS and is the longest 'restaurant' in business in this tiny town of Abita Springs, home of Abita beer; i.e. Purple Haze, Turbo Dog, etc.
Mama D's is a family-friendly restaurant in the heart of beautiful Abita Springs. Parking is convenient and diner-style booths are fun for all ages. The fresh food (homemade bread, local "farm-fresh" produce, signature sauce) is made-to-order and quite tasty. Stop by for a bite to eat or take out to enjoy at home!

We were starving, on our way to Abita Springs from the Cajun Encounters morning swamp tour, and only stopped here because it looked nice from the outside. Oooooh my goodness. We ordered a starter of Bayeux Fondeaux and didn't really read past the first half of the description - it comes with FRIED PASTA!!!! My husband and I looked at each other - really, f r i e d pasta??? And then we tried it and we laughed. It was SO good. We dug in like we hadn't eaten for days. Then we had ordered beans and rice - again totally delicious. We both thought it was so tasty that it didn't even need the sausage in it. And then we decided to go all out and we ordered the bread pudding which came swimming in rum sauce. We both took one bite and again, burst out laughing, it was SO yummie. I had confidently announced that I only wanted "one spoonful of dessert" as I was already so full. Well, we ate the whole thing. We wobbled out of there and could both not quite believe how delicious our meal had been. Now I'm back in London, back to healthy grilled fish and boiled vegetables and dreaming of deep fried pasta bows and bread pudding sloshing around in rum sauce.

We went for a birthday brunch meal with some “foodie” family, including a retired chef. All of us were impressed. The service was impeccable; friendly, fast, helpful. Their coffee is fantastic. Everyone had a taste of mine and some ordered more despite already having had some at home. We shared two appetizers- the deviled eggs and smoked salmon- both fantastic. We were very pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were too. We received 7-8 egg halves for $7 but had only been expecting 3-4. They were rich and creamy with a lovely zing. Main courses were: catfish - “very clean and some of the best he’s every had”
Corn and chicken tamale with creamy grits - the waiter said it was his favorite and I could taste why. The flavors were amazing and blended well and complemented each other perfectly.
Husband had the poutine with a poached egg that was very tasty
Frittata - was declared excellent
We were all too full for dessert but the choices looked amazing.
My husband and I definitely plan to go back for lunch or dinner.
They also had some very nice live music during the Sunday brunch.

We had the chargrilled oysters, grilled salmon salad, Cajun pasta, and paneed chicken. Everything was fabulous. I highly recommend the balsamic pepper jelly salad dressing. Don’t order the salmon well done- they actually cook it the way you request. The service was amazing.
