The American sunken naval vessel, USS Emmons, found north of Kourijima, which is located north of Okinawa main island, makes up the diving spot of this area. The vessel was found and reported by local divers in February 2001. This location has the potential to become one of the best diving spots in the world.
The wreck hauntingly sits a fair way down on its starboard side amongst a large debris field. Unlike a lot of wrecks I’ve dived on, this one has little coral formed on it. There is a reasonable amount of marine life but the attraction is the wreck itself. We did two dives, the first stern to midship, the second from now to midship. The visibility was good but the surface conditions tough with large swells. We thoroughly enjoyed the dives on this beautiful piece of maritime history.

Try your hand at beach diving here, suitable for a wide range of divers from absolute beginners to fun dives for experienced divers. The red, yellow, and purple alcyonacea (or soft corals) that paint the ocean a beautiful color is reminiscent of a flower garden and is a must-see of this area. You can also see a large number of the popular clownfish.

The Manza Dream Hole is one of Okinawa main island’s most famous cave diving spots. As you drop vertically down 25 meters into a pitch black hole and emerge from a horizontal cave passage, you will see a large school of sweepers crowding around the exit glowing in a beautiful blue. Even in the darkness, you can still see various creatures such as the soldierfish and noble file clams.
