Casual, tranquil, secluded and relaxed, Sol Caribe is a small, exclusive, beachfront resort with private cabanas and suites, on the Caribbean Sea side of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula; in the state of Quintana Roo… it is one of the last untouched corners of the Mayan Riviera with a desert island feel. Just 35 km south of the town of Tulum and 8 km from the village of Punta Allen, Sol Caribe is located within a protected oasis of extraordinary natural beauty, the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Mexico’s largest wetland nature reserve and one of the world’s greatest fly fishing spots on Ascension Bay (Bahia de la Ascension). Explore the Mayan ruins dotting the jungle landscape, snorkel in the Great Meso-American Barrier Reef just off the beach, enjoy the fresh seafood in our beachfront restaurant, watch the sea turtles swimming in the waves… or just relax under a palapa on a white sandy beach that you have all to yourself.
Booked a room. Got to the national park gate. They wouldn't let us through. No one would pick up the phone at the hotel. Got back a few hours later. Refunded our cost but ended up wasting a whole vacation day and having to book a cheap hotel last minute

We have visited Isla Mujeres many times over many years and Chichi Charlie’s was always one of our main stops.! We are 60 and like to make a day of our beach hike stopping for drinks and conversation along the way. We start at the tip of North Beach stopping to swim, eat, drink and walk. We always tend to spend the most time at Chi-chi Charlie’s. Great views of the ocean and a fun place to stop. Well at least it used to be. Today when we arrived we picked one of the many open tables where we could people watch and have a few drinks and maybe an appetizer or two. Instead of our normal greeting of, “hola what can I get you” The first question was are you staying upstairs in our rooms. When we replied no we were told there’s a 400 peso minimum and not in a friendly way. Although we would have easily spent 400 pesos we weren’t treated as if we were welcome there. We left. Sorry we won’t stop again.

You don’t get what you pay for at Vida Silvestre. Good idea but poor execution. Noisy neighbor, terrible water quality, unclean, just to name a few of the problems. We were attracted to this property by its solar energy and other ecological appeals. Booked three nights though Booking.com and specifically requested quiet room away from loud music. Unfortunately it was impossible to stay beyond the first night due to noise. When we first arrived, we noticed there was a construction site next to apartment #1 which we were assigned. We did not want to make a fuss and hope it’ll quiet down. Went out for dinner and came back noticing a constant loud humming from maybe a generator. The humming was so powerful and felt like it was right behind the bedroom. Again we tried to be cool about it and planned to wait it out. By 11pm we realized it was not going to go away, texted the manager on WhatsApp. No response, no one on site to help us. Ended up the noise went on all night. The next morning, tired and frustrated from lack of sleep, we requested to shorten the stay and get a refund for the remaining two nights. Manager claimed we were the first guest to complain about noise, which is not true as plenty other reviews said the same thing. The management obviously knows about the problem all along with neighbor’s generator. They could have put us in other apartment away from it, especially we requested a quiet room in the booking note. We felt trapped and mistreated. Additionally the hot water was iffy, and came out a little red in color. Water dispenser and switches are not clean. Overall I strongly advise fellow travelers to stay away!

Cabañas En Un Entorno De Vejetacion Tranquilidad Ecologico Junto A La Laguna Kayaks Restahurante Ambiente Familiar Tranquilo
+ Location - Dirty rooms - poor WiFi - no real toilet (just holes in the ground) - very bad road to get there - restaurant does not deserve the name - rather an fast food shack All in all at the level of an average hostel - for more than 100 Euro per night not acceptable.

I have stayed at Xcanan since 2006. It was the best kept secret with a shaded beach and an amazing staff. Early this year (2021) it was literally taken over by new management. The vibe completely changed from warm and friendly to cold and icy. Blaring music all night long that made the concrete blocks vibrate. The staff from the old management that everyone loved has moved on.

Casitas Kinsol is a Guest House with 8 rooms for rent in Puerto Morelos, on the Mayan Riviera, 25 minutes South of the airport international of Cancun and 4 blocks from the main bus stop in town. It resides in the heart of the “Colonia” of Puerto Morelos conveniently located between Cancun and Playa del Carmen and only 2.5 miles to the beach. Surrounded by many eateries, grocery stands and stores, it offers 8 romantic rooms and bungalows: 4 with kitchenettes and 4 without. All the rooms have basic amenities at low prices for double occupancy. The rooms come with private baths, hot showers, air fans and a unique décor designed by the owners. Most of them come with WI-FI. Room #1:The Master Room is (as well as the room 8) an authentic Mayan hut where Mayan people used to leave until the early 1990's. It has been converted to a large room with its private bathroom. The thatched roof was replaced by a stucco one with two skylights. Two small windows were added to bring some more light to the room. It has cement floor and tiles in the large bathroom. It is a very large standalone, ground floor, hut style bungalow, complete with a full-size (double) bed and one twin-size (single) bed, so it will accommodate 3 persons. Private bathroom and kitchenette. It offers a refrigerator and two burner stove-top but no ovens or microwave. No microwave or standard ovens, no dishwasher either. This room has a front door allowing you to exit onto the boulevard without having to go through the grounds but also a backdoor giving you access to the gardens and relaxation areas as well.
The many charms of this wonderful tiny village of casitas, ensconced in a lovely tropical garden, brought us back to peaceful Puerto Morelos for the fourth year in a row. Christine and Alain have created something very special and rare, a world apart from the tourist resorts that line much of the beach from Cancun to Playa del Carmen and beyond. Christine and Alain are friendly, warm, and generous spirits, and they have poured their hearts and souls into creating and maintaining this beautiful little oasis. We have stayed in 3 of the 8 suites and looked at all the others – each is very individual and thoughtfully designed, from one that is small and cozy (and inexpensive!) to others that are larger and more spacious. Two are authentic Mayan huts that have been sensitively adapted for the modern traveler; all have nice bathrooms with beautiful Mexican tile work, and all were very clean and neat, as were the common areas. We always enjoy our conversations with Christine and Alain, about the past, present, and future of Puerto Morelos, world affairs, animals, art, and life in general. And as animal lovers, we thoroughly enjoyed spending time with the elegant cat Mis-ha and the three sweet dogs Taxi, Nena, and Tati. Puerto Morelos itself is a refreshing change from the more touristed parts of this region – much quieter and less crowded, yet with a variety of good restaurants and cafes and fun things to do. We enjoyed exploring both the tourist-oriented beach side of Puerto Morelos and the locals-oriented town side. We no longer rent a car while here; it is so easy (and ridiculously cheap) to just take taxis (5 minutes and 30 pesos from Kinsol to the beach) or the ADO bus for longer trips. All in all, Casitas Kinsol is a unique and lovely place to stay, and an exceptional value compared with the much higher prices of beach resorts and condos. Also the short 25-minute drive to/from the airport make it a very convenient first or last stop if you are visiting other areas. Highly recommended!

Casa Blanca beach house is located in Tulum Mexico on the road to Boca Paila next to Si'an Ka'an Biosphere Reserve. It is the last property before entering Si'an Ka'an and affords the most privacy, romance, and intimacy of any accommodation on Tulum's beautiful stretch of Caribbean beachfront. Casa Blanca is located in a private compound, called Rancho San Eric. It located only 10 meters from a 5-star restaurant called Hechizo.
Recently we (two couples) spent a wonderful 10 days at Rancho San Eric, Casa Colibri-not Casa Blanca. Casa Colibri is a lovely two bedroom/two bath casita just steps from the Caribbean and is just one of the several individual accommodations that comprise Rancho San Eric. We loved the location which is on the south end of the busy hotel and beach strip about 10kms. from Tulum Pueblo. Rancho San Eric remains a quite, tranquil oasis secluded from the chaos, the hyper development and non stop party scene that has transformed Tulum in recent years. Here you can relax on your private deck, swim in the clean waters of the sea, walk towards the south on miles of nearly deserted white sand beach, or enjoy a refreshing dip in the pool. We also liked using the small but well equipped kitchen in Casa Colibri which is ideal for self catering. The management of RSE offers a food shopping/provisioning service for a small fee so that when you arrive your fridge will be stocked with whatever items you desire. Communication with the the owners is easy and fast. The staff on site is there to provide you with friendly and helpful service. For those who want a taste of beautiful Tulum as it used to be, I can only give RSE my highest recommendation. I hope that we will be able to make a return visit in the near future.

Punta Allen is a magical spot just south of Tulum. It's quiet, picturesque, not touristy, and just all around lovely. We stopped at the Bungalos Costa Del Sol for lunch while visiting and I wish that we would have stayed the night. The food was DELICIOUS. Everyone we encountered was super friendly. More than anything, the setting was beautiful, shaded, and close to the beach. Each bungalow was cute, cosy, and offset and steps away from the beach. There was also camping on site. Everything was tucked away from the main road. This spot was so far from pretentious and had the exact same picturesque setting as all of the spa's and beach front expensive properties in Tulum. It was a bit of a hike from Tulum on a bumpy dirt road, but i highly recommend making the trek to Punta Allen and staying at these bungalos if you have a chance. At the very least, stop to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the setting, hammocks, and beach cat. When i return to the area, i'm definitely going to book a couple nights here.

Tulum Cabanas Xbalamque is a little ecological-hotel in the Mayan Jungle, at 100 meters from Sian Kaan Reserve and 20 minutes from the archaeological zone. The surroundings are filled with fresh and crystal waters, where you can enjoy a wonderful experience underground or a kayak's trip. Also we are only at 100 meters from the paradise beach!Come to visit us and enjoy peaceful and great days! The facilities at the Xbalamque Cabanas include 24 hours hot showers and car parking facilities. We will recommend staying in Xbalamque Cabanas Tulum. It is possible to borrow a gummi raft (or kayaks) to sail on the Cenote, and snorkling gears to explore the underwater life (most interesting in the Conote). Bikecycles are for rent. There are no breakfast included, however a small kitchen is available.
Great place for families!! Fantastic staff, we absolutely fell in love with them. Community kitchen was a plus, especially when you get to share it with fantastic people from all around the world. The cenote was great, we swam, kayaked, and went snorkeling there.
