New York State has it all – booming metropolises, majestic waterfalls, mountains, wine country, chicken wings. Yes, NYC is a magnet for tourists, but an exploration of the rest of the state can be equally thrilling. The Finger Lakes Wine Region is a vision of serene waters, quaint B&Bs, and pretty vineyards. Movie buffs will love Rochester, home of the George Eastman House and one of the world’s most comprehensive film archives. On your way to Niagara Falls, stop in Buffalo to fuel up on spicy wings.

We share our family farm vacations and all-natural meats and produce with people from around the world who want to understand and experience a part of their history. By helping with farming tasks, you can watch your children or grandchildren milk a cow, feed pigs, or collect eggs for the first time. Learning about farm life in rural upstate New York, from a real farmer, is a unique educational experience that many claim to be "priceless!"
We just got back from a picturesque animal farm-stay at Hull-O Farms in the Catskills region. It was our first ever farm stay, and our kids had the best time. Twice a day, they did chores feeding and tending baby goats, lambs, calves, piglets and bunnies, they milked the cows, gathered eggs by going into the chicken coops, fed the moose and the deer, the geese and turkeys and played with the many cats. They got their hands dirty, smelled of cows, got nice and sweaty in the sun running around carrying grass and water everywhere but they had big smiles on. After their chores were done, they would laze on the tire swings and hammocks and enjoy the lush green lawns on our quaint, almost 100 year-old cottage which was so sweetly decorated and had all the basic amenities provided for. My 8 year old actually told me how improved her mood was when driving back to the city, and wanted to go back soon to see how the many baby animals she tended to have grown. My 3 year old was obsessed with the farm cats, (they had multiple litters) and they would hover around for free milk and meat. It's an authentic working farm experience, with a 230-year old history. Farmer Frank and his wife Sherry and son Jared work so hard. The family have been keeping the only farm alive in this region by offering multiple programs, such as this farm-stay guest program. They also do a hay ride on their 51 year old tractor and campfire with music in the evenings. Be prepared - its a real working farm, which means it can get stinky and very dusty when you're around the farm animals, but this is exactly what city dwellers like us wanted. We made sure to keep their hands sanitized, showers and saline spray to keep their nasal passages clear, and put some insect-repellent on to avoid ticks - we didn't see any though. The kids got certificates when checking out which was such a nice touch! We are so glad our kids got to experience and also understand what farm life is like. They also have a meat-shed to purchase their grass-fed beef, chicken etc, eggs and fresh local maple syrup and their own pond for fishing. The cottage views are just so good! We did some quiet and relaxing walks too. We also did horse riding at the Bailiwick Ranch nearby, visited their zoo, and the restaurants in Wyndham ( Mill Rock was great!!). We will return for sure.

The Yoga Ranch was founded in 1974 by Swami Vishnudevananda to provide a peaceful retreat structured around a full immersion into Yogic living and nurtured with the natural beauty of the lush mountains. The simple living close to nature quiets the mind and prepares it for meditation and the high thinking of the Vedanta philosophy. Asanas (yoga postures), Pranayama (breathing techniques), vegetarian meals, chanting, and working together in Karma Yoga help complete your Yoga experience. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to the propagation of classical Yoga teachings. Experience the empowerment to transform health, relationships, and attitude through practices focusing on the body, mind, and spirit. Awaken a deep inner appreciation for dharmic (sustainable) living. The Yoga Ranch invites you to come explore this adventure in healthy living.
A sanctuary of healing and spiritual growth!! The perfect place to get away breathe in the fresh Catskill mountain air and recharge in a peaceful, clean, natural environment. I came here after the death of my mother when I was broken and consumed with grief, darkness and sadness. The warmth, love, and kindness of the Karma Yogi staff along with the meditation, chanting, and yoga opened my heart and allowed the light back in. The Well-Being Center staff was absolutely wonderful. The treatments literally reconnected me to my body. Thank you so much Ishvari, Krishna Pria, Parameshwara, and Maheshwari for your skill, patience, and love. I will be forever grateful. There is delicious organic vegetarian/vegan food freshly made for every meal. The ashram has its own garden and greenhouse and is lovingly overseen by Sitaram Chaitanya. The grounds are beautiful with gorgeous flower gardens tended by Ambika and gentle hiking trails surround the property. The Ashram offers two Sivananda yoga classes and a variety of interesting workshops. The wood burning Russian sauna is very popular. (pack a bathing suit) The beautiful Satsangs start with meditation and chanting, usually followed a teaching. If you are fortunate to have Satsang with Swami Paramananda or Srinivasan, you will be inspired by their knowledge, devotion, and humor. This experience enabled me to return home and deal with the aftermath of my mother’s death in a clearer and saner manner. It is truly a spiritually charged haven.

LOVED it here!! Had an amazing time! We stayed in the Captains lodge and it was wonderful! Luke and Jane are fantastic! The views were spectacular! Close to town, stores and the wineries as well. The atmosphere here is so peaceful. Love the many seating areas on the various docks and porch too. We will most definitely be coming here again! I highly recommend Admiral Peabodys!!

A farm vacation near Ithaca, NY, in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes, Cornell, Ithaca College, dozens of vineyards, boating, antique shops, with a peaceful farm cottage on a working farm as a relaxing base.
Our 4-night stay at Rosebarb farm was excellent. My 4.5Y son loved the farm and wanted to stay there all day long. There are so much to see within 20min drive! This place is truly a gem for quality family vacation with young kids. The upstairs bedroom is spacious enough for the whole family to sleep in (one king, one queen futon, one playpen), plus plenty extra space for kids to run around before bed time. Downstairs is a living room and a kitchen, also spacious enough for kids to play around when it rains. Most importantly, Farmer Don and Rita are just wonderful people. My son is always quiet around strangers but he talked to Don and Rita like he had known them for long. That says a lot about how comfortable he felt about being on the farm and around Farmer Don and Rita.

Been going here for the last twenty years, every Memorial Day weekend. Situated halfway between The Lake George Village and Boltons Landing it's the most perfect location. You can easily visit both places and either eat on the premises or one of the many options in either town. The cabins are the cleanest in all of Lake George area.

We stayed 3 nights and 4 days. We rode horses every day with the best guides Kate and Jo. The horses were very well trained and was allowed to ride according to OUR ability. The cabins we very clean and spacious . Hot tub and indoor pool was nice. Only the food was ok. If they could change anything it would be better food and or choices. Love this place definitely going back!

A friendly, comfortable atmosphere in a beautiful country setting is what you will find at Fieldstone Farm Resort. Located just minutes away from the Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown Dreams Park, restaurants and shopping, the family cottages and townhouses range from one to three bedrooms and are equipped with full-sized kitchens and living rooms. They offer a wide variety of amenities including solar-heated pool, WI-FI, TV, game room, billiard room, stocked fishing ponds, boating, basketball and tennis courts, laundry room, and convenience store. So, come, get away from it all and enjoy the unspoiled hospitality of Fieldsone Farm Resort.
We had our annual hunting trip to the area and this was the first time staying on this property. The cabins were closed for the winter but the townhouses were PERFECT for what we needed. We had a two bedroom and a three bedroom unit next to each other. They had everything we needed for our weekend trip. The owners of the property are some of the nicest people (John and Jean) you will ever meet. They made sure our stay was enjoyable and that we had all that we needed. If your baseball team is looking to come out next summer or if you are just making a visit to Cooperstown, you must check this place out. They have several cabins on the property at the top of a hill with beautiful views of the sunset. Lots of space for the kids to run around, game room, swimming pool, etc. I recommend 100%!

For more than 100 years, this Adirondack resort on the north shore of Big Moose Lake offers the same hospitality, by the same family, as it did when it opened in 1904. We offer three meals per day, daily cottage cleaning, and daily fire service. We are a place where families can truly disconnect to reconnect with each other.
"The hidden gem of the Adirondacks," I've heard this when people speak of the Waldheim. Rustic, serene, picturesque, excellent food... we've always wanted to stay but its popularity made getting in difficult. And then, we saw a last minute cancellation on their Facebook feed, and we pounced on the opportunity. Two nights, the week before they closed. We stayed a cabin called The Woodbox. It was absolutely perfect...Perfect size for my wife and I but it did have 2 bedrooms, so 4 could have slept here with ease. The bathroom looked brand new, the interior was clean, the fireplace large and welcoming, pre-stocked with plenty of wood. A nice front porch overlooking the lake and a 3 minute walk to the dining hall. Numerous beaches... a pleasant trail to walk around the property. The guests and staff were so friendly. They treat you like family. There is a small library with a computer that did have internet access, but my number one suggestion to people staying here: TURN OFF YOUR DEVICES and ENJOY THE MOMENTS. Kids may rebel initially, but I'm told they acclimate to nature and come to love it. I did not miss my phone at all... Now, the food.... the dining room was GORGEOUS! I'll post a few pictures... the food, TOP NOTCH. Every meal was amazing. If you read other reviews bashing the food, it simply isn't true. I can't tell you what my favorite was because it was all so good... I really could go on, but my words will not do justice to how special of a place this really is. Best in the Adirondacks, in my humble opinion as a fairly experienced traveler...
