I don't like walking into places I can't see inside, but I wanted to get some Georgian food as I'd recently worked in Georgia for two months. Like many restaurants in Georgia and Ukraine it is downstairs in a cellar (others are often upstairs). Perfect filling food for a cold February day. I had the Kharcho soup, an Kachapuri, an Adjarian Khachapuri (hadn't had one in Georgia, a very stodgy meal in itself) and the home style potatoes - friend potatoes with onions and herbs that I find excellent everywhere in Georgia (and the Ukrainian equivalent). Plus a perfectly reasonable mass produced German or Czech style Eastern European lager. Had I been staying longer I would have tried some of the modern style Georgian wines.

Be it a hearty breakfast or a special occasion outing, Nosh wonât leave you disappointed. A carefully composed menu offers the best foods from around Ukraine, skillfully cooked international dishes and above all - masterpiece desserts. The list of beverages will satisfy the most refined taste. I would especially recommend a choice of house made compotes in Nosh brand bottles. I definitely recommend this tastefully designed place for foodies and people keeping healthy diet.

Out of an increasing choice, this is probably the best bar in the city to try a range of mainstream and speciality Ukrainian beers, along with food. There is now at least one US/AUS/UK style craft beer bar, a couple of specialist beer bars which do food and mainstream beer, and a couple of brew pub / craft brewery restaurants and at least one new micro brewery. Amid the increasing choice I like bar restaurant AmBar, at Oleksandrivska, 88, behind the Palmyra mall complex, which serves probably the best range of Ukrainian styles of beer, and food that accompanies them (unlike some of the very old fashioned or even new bars not limited to the dried fish and âchipsâ - crisps & beer snacks). AmBar is a typical restaurant type âbarâ so best visited with friends. My friend and colleague Alesia introduced me to this bar, we visited twice, coming back with another University friend, and I will certainly visit again when I am next in town. The beers are expensive for Ukraine but high quality. Iâve made more detailed comparisons with other bar restaurants elsewhere but why not try for yourself and see how quality beer culture is growing in south east Ukraine.

There's always something extra cozy about a below ground pub, and Pub Bastion with its' medieval themed decor and often in-character animateur was a nice discovery for us. Recommended by the barman at O'Hara's last year when they were full up, we actually didn't visit here until this year when by Monday all of our other choices for Valentine's Day were fully booked. We spent an enjoyable evening, trying various draft beer selections, a crisp, dry Italian fruity champagne, and several different food choices including starters and mains. The Cupid costumed animator and his side-kick photographer made it that much better, and the evening was made special when we were approached by three lovely young people who were interested in meeting an English speaking patron and his wife. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and plan on returning soon.

I visited Usaty Krolik with my friend. She is a vegetarian, so she was happy to see a vegetarian option in the menu. They have also breakfast, for sure I want to try in the future. Wine list looks very poor, but if I understand right itâs typical for this city. Staff was good and take care about us.
