The town is on the south bank of the River Tees and is historically part of the North Riding of Yorkshire. The bridge at Yarm marked the furthest reach of tidal flow up the River Tees until the opening, in 1995, of the Tees Barrage, which now regulates river flow above Stockton. As the last bridge on the river before the sea, it was superseded by a new toll bridge opened in Stockton in 1771. The oldest part of the town, around the High Street, is situated in a loop of the river, and the newer parts of the town extend to the point where the River Leven meets the River Tees.

A village pub and restaurant with an extensive menu of freshly prepared food served daily from noon. Black Sheep Bitter, Thatchers Gold Cider, a good wine list and coffee are just some of the drinks offered. General knowledge quiz on Monday, 8.30pm. Music
Due to the passing of my dadâs partner, we had organised the wake at The Falcon, Hilton village, as it was a favourite place which they visited regularly.Early in the arrangements Matthew the owner/manager was a delight to deal with. Nothing was too much trouble and he listened as I outlined the sort of food I thought would be perfect for the collection of friends and family.Matthew was professional, but also came across as someone who genuinely cared and wanted to provide the perfect funeral buffet. My father has been a regular at the restaurant for meals for the last 16 years, and although Matthew had only recently taken on the pub in October 2018 (I think), he treated my elderly dad as if he had known him for many years. The catering The Falcon provided was absolutely amazing, with family and friends commenting how they had never seen such a great buffet. The produce was fresh and tasty, and staff were on hand to keep the area clean and tidy and refill any foods or teas and coffees for our guests.Itâs always difficult to decide on numbers to cater for at a wake, so it was no surprise there was a little bit of food left over. The staff helpfully boxed up anything guests asked for, perfect for an evening snack later on. Nothing was too much trouble. The wake took place in a separate dining room, which offered privacy and guests never felt rushed in anyway. If you are looking to hold a wake (or in fact any event that involves a buffet), within the Yarm/Thornaby/Ingleby Barwick area, I could not recommend this place more highly. Matthew and his team are friendly, professional and go the extra mile and made a fitting end to what was a very sad, yet poignant day.

Country Pub and Restaurant
Fourteen of us visited for Sunday lunch having pre-booked and ordered. The pub is well decorated with separate dining areas. They easily accommodated our large group. The staff were helpful, very attentive and obliging. Our food was served promptly and was all hot for such a large group. The mains, side dishes and deserts were substantial, well presented and delicious. We will go back. Also there is a large car park and children play area at the back of the pub/restaurant.

Village inn and restaurant serving food daily from noon with a good selection of wines and ales . Larger groups can be catered for
Dissapointing meal used to be regular visitors prior to change of management.Smaller meal choices for the senior members of the public are no longer on the menu.Prices have increased on standard meals but quality has dropped.Cod was a very poor fillet and batter soggy it was clear chips had beeen reheated.Staff very pleasant and welcoming but it is the food that needs concentrated effort or a lot of customers will disappear

Whether you're out for a quick bite, breakfast, a romantic dinner or family meal, our restaurant can take bookings of all sizes, choosing from our seasonal main menu or our evening specials menu. The restaurant is contemporary but comfortable & flexible e
The hotel is attractive and nicely furnished. The restaurant is an odd mixture between two rooms, which may be why service can be slow. Breakfast was sad. The coffee was not great. The bagel was not eaten and the poached eggs with boring bread left much to be desired.

Lunch was nice, Beef was nice and Yorkshire pudding was also nice. Would have liked a wider veg selection as it only came with a small amount of mash, 1 big BOILED potato (I prefer roasties!), about 4 carrots and some cabbage. The table next to us had Cauliflower/Broccoli cheese which we assumed must have came with the meal as we didn't see it anywhere on the menu as an extra and we didn't receive any. We also had to ask for more gravy and the horseradish sauce was about a teaspoon full in a tiny pot. Apart from that it was really tasty and the service was fast so we will be back to try again but will be prepared to ask for extras next time!

Now under new management - one of Yarm's oldest watering holes has had a facelift and refit but still retains the personality for which it's famed.
Went here on a Thursday night. Used to have really nice pub food however don't know what's gone wrong but it's not great . Burgers , hot dogs or sausage and mash unless like us when we got over the shock and decided to order -NO SAUSAGES !!! On such a limited selection the fact that half the menu was unavailable was pretty dismal. So we ordered burgers which quite frankly were ok , nothing special and way overpriced for the size of them . The one star rating was for the decent presentation . I fear they will have to up the ante a little , we for one will not rush back .

The power of Tripadvisor to get you to the out of the way places that you would otherwise be ignorant of! We arrived at 5 minutes to 2 on a Friday afternoon to meet up with my daughter; the polite enquiry of what time do you serve to was met with a certain amount of humour and warmth with the answer of two o'clock. Fortunately the specials board was close by and after consultation we had the top three on the Board; quiche, koftas and tuna on the general understanding that each of us would happily swap. These selections covered a fair range of world food which is a challenge but all were enjoyed; some helped down by the Rev. James beer. An excellent start to an excellent weekend. The theatre was a success as well!
