There was an article in a local newspaper about the Pickwick Inn reopening. This place has been around a long time, and has gone through a few owners. The new owner took out the carpet and took it down to the concrete floor --- which he refinished. He has really cleaned up this place ..... in the past it was some place that appeared to always need a good cleaning. It was Thursday night, and they had ribs on special .... very tender and well done. It is not often that you can find decent ribs in a place that is not a "rib joint". Several friends have also gone to this restaurnt and they also enjoyed their meals. The present menu is not real extensive ..... they have chicken, steaks, fish and burgers ..... I chatted with the new owner. He is trying different items and if they go over well, he is keeping them on the menu .... a sound business decision. Why offer something, if no one orders it. Try this "new" restaurant in a very beautiful location ..... you won't be disapointed.
I visited river road for some pizza and to watch Monday night football as they had great ratings on trip advisor. While the the drive was 15 minutes from Winona, it was absolutely the best choice. The owners are very kind, they have outstanding pizza and the patrons are very welcoming. I when I travel back to the area, I will definitely make a trip back here!
Heard from neighbors they have a great fish fry. Went for lunch and had burgers. Yummy! Best burger in/around Winona. Hand pattied and fresh. Excellent onion rings. Small town bar but clean and nice. Fooseball table for fun. Oh yeah and super cheap. Unlike the supposed best burgers in winona that are $10 and not worth a penny. I love a good bar burger and this is it!

Starting out with the positive, the waitress was very friendly, quick & helpful. For a college bar, the tap beers seemed a bit pricey, but not totally out of line. The gyro we had was good and the waffle fries were very tasty (though not many). What I did not care for were the boneless wings - they were breaded like mcnuggets and then drenched in whichever sauce you chose. The sauces were good, but the chicken was not - in my opinion the breading on them ruined the flavor. Also, for it being only half full, the acoustics were terrible - it was difficult to talk across the table without practically shouting.

We had a very enjoyable dinner last night at Cedar Valley Golf Restaurant. While we were eating we noticed that almost everyone got a to-go box, and when we got our food we saw the reason. The portions are huge, not to mention delicious! Our server was pleasant, and the atmosphere was comfortable. The only suggestion I would have is to lower the lights a bit, it's very bright in there.

Wellington's is becoming our favorite place in Winona. Tap beers are big and cold. Service is good. Burgers are excellent, etc. It's not fancy, but it is comfortable and you leave satisfied and happy. Great tater tots and cheese curds.Thank you for dining with us again, Tgrier. We appreciate your loyalty and your continued trust in our restaurant and our staff. Rest assured that we will do everything it takes to make us deserving of your loyalty.

From our menu to our genuine service, everything we do at Green Mill Restaurant & Bar in Winona, Minnesota is focused on one thing - providing our guests the best restaurant experience possible. Our menu features legendary pizza, including our famous deep
Staying at the hotel attached and weather was poor so decided to eat in. Sat ourselves at a table that looked like it had been wiped down recently but soon discovered it still felt sticky/dirty in spots.Looked over the menu and I ordered the "Big Bang" Shrimp with hush puppies and the wife ordered the Colt 45 burger and soup. Took quite awhile to get our food and when it came neither of us was impressed. My shrimp was supposed to beer BATTERED which to me would be a thick, somewhat doughy covering as it is a BATTER instead of a breading which is a thinner, crisper coating. The shrimp was very hard and chewy with what I would call a breading instead of a batter as it was very thin. Hush puppies that I have had before are normally a light golden brown and these were a very dark brown, about 2 shades from black and were also very hard/crispy on the outside. Both items, in my opinion, were WAY overcooked. The wife's burger was supposed to be a 1/3 lb. and may have started out as that but sure didn't look like it when done cooking. They put an onion ring on top and filled this with BBQ sauce, way too much, and when she squeezed it to take a bite BBQ sauce came out the sides and dripped all over her hands. Soup wasn't that good and she wished she would have gotten fries or something else. Waitress never stopped back after delivering our food and I actually had to call her over to get refills on our drinks. Now the thing that dropped it down to 1 dot. 1 of the kitchen help's wife/girlfriend was sitting at the bar and he kept coming out and talking to her, probably at least 4 times in the hour or so we were there. I am guessing wife/girl friend as there was some minor PDA going on. When he wasn't there the other staff was talking to her instead of tending to the customers. This probably explains why our food wasn't up to our expectations and service was mediocre. I would suggest the kitchen help stay in the kitchen and keep eye on whats cooking instead of keeping an eye on his wife/girlfriend out in the bar area.
Where to eat Grill food in Winona: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Winona has plenty of chain restaurants; this restaurant is at a former golf country club. The golfing is still there, but the private "club" is now public. Two restaurants are in the main building--one very fancy and spending (Signatures), the other offering lunch/ dinner options from $6 on up. Burgers are good (Thursday summer specials are 2 for 1), as are many of the sandwiches (my husband cannot not order the "Torta" sandwich). The evening dinner special has never disappointed either. Nice summer outdoor dining (if you can catch a shade umbrella), lovely view of the gardens. Not a chain, and not too spendy. We've never been disappointed in the food.

We had eaten here previously and liked it well enough to come back. This was a major disappointment. I asked the waiter about the beer list and he said he didn't know anything about it. I asked about whether they had a brown ale - he didn't know anything about it. I wound up googling the beer list. About 3/4 of the selections were IPA's or ciders. There were no offerings from local breweries so I had a Stella. I can get that at home, but at least it was one I liked. My wife wanted a Moscow Mule, so she went and read the promotional flyers in the entrance. Our waiter provided no useful suggestions or advice. When our meal was delivered, it looked like it had been up for a while. My wife had a fish sandwich, so she asked for tarter sauce. He did get it promptly. He vanished until he brought the bill - too bad, the Stella was all right and I would have ordered another one if he had come around. The food was average (3 stars), but the service was terrible, (1 star) so the overall review is 2 stars. There are a lot of choices in Winona, so give this place a miss. It is mediocre.I'm so sorry the service was lacking on the day you were here. I will definitely look into this. I appreciate your review so that we can try to get this corrected.

We wouldâve liked to have dinner here...but weâre rudely turned away by the bartender at 9:45 pm (about 15 minutes before the kitchen closed). We were told that we had one minute to order when the sign outside clearly indicated that the kitchen closed at 10 pm. After spending 4 hours at the pool for a swim meet, we just wanted to eat dinner so we could get back to our hotel for some rest. Unfortunately I donât think weâll ever eat here after being treated so badly by the bartender.
