Find out what Pub restaurants to try in Springfield. The spirit of the "Land of Lincoln" is nowhere else so alive as it is in Springfield, one time home to old Honest Abe himself and present home of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices State Historic Site, the Old State Capitol State Historic Site, the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Lincoln Tomb State Historic Site. The NAACP also holds Springfield at its roots, having formed after a particularly bloody race riot here in 1908.

The weather was perfect if you wanted to sit outside at the heated areas. And when we walked inside we were greeted immediately in a friendly manner and directed to our private function in the party room. The appetizers were great just the right kick in their sauces. And the waitress was asking for drink orders throughout the night when needed. A great place to have a small private function maybe under 40.

We found the menu to be quite uninspired and average, if not boring. Service was much the same; courteous but not particularly welcoming. The success of this restaurant seems to be based and reliant upon its location rather than any particular or special-"ness" about it or its food.

Abe's Hideout provides restaurants and bar services to the Springfield, IL areas.
We stopped here for dinner. We were seated quickly on a Friday night at 7pm. Amber was our server. She was quick to greet us and take our drink order. The cocktails were quite good. No skimping on alcohol. I ordered the pork chop with green beans and cole slaw. All were delicious! The pulled pork flatbread was also good. It had coleslaw, pulled pork, and pickles on it. Great flavors. Service excellent. Food excellent. Prices excellent.

This is a small bar with great staff and food. It is definitely a place you can bring children. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are moderate. Come try a Springfield specialty like a horseshoe or just order a great burger. Our favorite is the black and blue.

We were here to celebrate St. Patty's day. Well sort of, we were here on the eve of St. Patrick day (March 16th). Everyone was still dressed in there festive green Irish colors. The restaurant was adorned with green flashing lights and decorations. It was a fun atmosphere. This is not your typical Irish Pub adorned with a well done wooden bar feel, but still definitely has that Irish vibe. We had a decent server experience. Ryan our server kept our drinks full and our table clear. Our food experience was pretty average. We ordered the pot sticker appetizer. They were not great. They were fried and very dry. They were served with a very tasty orange sauce for dipping. We then also shared the Irish Nachos with pulled pork barbecue. They were served on top of Waffle cut fries. They were the best item we had to eat on our visit. We then shared their Reuben horseshoe. Rye bread, corned beef, crinkle cut fries top with their Leland cheese sauce and sauerkraut. The cheese sauce is touted as being the original recipe for the first horseshoe ever served in Illinois. It was good but probably not what goes best on a Rueben type of offering. It was missing the Thousand Island sweet and tangy taste. So this shoe did not work well for our palettes. We topped our meal off with a Black and Tan and a Jameson drink. It was a fun environment (4 stars). Attentive Service (4 stars). Food was good not great (3 stars). Value was decent for the experience (4 stars). Not a strong romantic atmosphere (3 stars). It would be a decent place to meet a group (3 stars). Giving this place an average of 3.5 stars (which we will round up to a 4 star rating).

We loved our afternoon diner at the Lodge. We got there around 4:00 on a beautiful autumn afternoon after spending the morning at the Lincoln Museum and Oak Ridge Cemetery. We were hungry and we were tired. We got seated immediately in the bar area. There were five guys and me and they were all over the stuffed deer, and other wild life. We started with a flight of beer. There are four tasting sized beers which were fall flavors. Then we went for the swale silverfin fish cakes. I could make a meal of these - crunchy on the outside and fishy on the inside (in a good way). Pony shoes all around. The waitress was so nice and put up with our goofyness. We will definitely find an excuse to return to Springfield and try the buffalo, alligator and a repeat on the fish cakes,

This brewery and restaurant were a pleasant surprise. I enjoy IPAâs and they had a hoppy, yet not bitter one. Had the Cajun shrimp and andouille sausage with cornbread, which was fantastic. Normally I would shy away from this type of food in Central Illinois however there was a tasty reward. Several colleagues tried the Horseshoe and they went away stuffed to the gills. Definitely recommend for the beer and the food.

We visited D'Arcy's Pint on recommendation of friends who had enjoyed a few meals there. The horseshoe was the main reason for visiting, as Springfield Illinois is the home of the original horseshoe. Open-Faced sandwich with some type meat (hamburger, chicken, beef, pork or anything else) with Fries and cheese sauce over the top. My wife really enjoyed her horseshoe and I opted for a Irish beef pot roast sandwich with fries. I also tried the Irish mashed potatoes shaped with a crater in the middle where some melted cheese and cheese sauce awaited my taste buds. I really enjoyed my meal as well. Service was great and the food arrived a lot faster than we thought it would as we arrived at 3:00pm on aa Saturday and the place was packed like it was dinner time. If you are in the Springfield area looking for somewhere to eat, avoid the chain restaurants and drop by D'Arcy's Pint for one of those delicious horseshoes.

Engrained Brewery & Restaurant is a micro-brewery and farm to table restaurant. Brewed onsite, our beer lineup is crafted to bring friends together with a broad range of styles. Our menu features fresh and affordable food from local family farms!
As the title says it is well worth the effort to go, but it is not that easy to find, unless you use your GPS. But, once there, you will be happy you went. The microbrew wheat beer was very good. The menu is diverse, but not overwhelming. There are regional favorites offered, such as the Horseshoe (hamburger on bread slice, covered in french fries, and smothered in a cheese sauce) - it was great. I highly recommend Engrained.Thank you for the review! I am glad you enjoyed your visit. My apologies on the street navigation challenges, the city had a "unique" vision for the roads here! One hint for the GPS is make sure you put in the "West" part of 1120 W Lincholnshire and the 62711 zip code as well.
