Mad Capper Saloon & Eatery

Casual, fun atmosphere with great upscale pub food and the best beer selection in the Valley. Family friendly, and a great place to meet friends whether for drinks or to catch the game, a local icon for 33 years and counting.

Mad Capper is always a sure thing. My wife and I stopped in for dinner a couple days ago and weren't disappointed. Just a light supper with chili and fries but oh were they good. Plus great wine and draft beer. And really good service. We will be back!

We've eaten here ten or fifteen times over that last four years. The food has usually been good to very good for bar food, with an occasional greasy fish filet caused by oil temp not being hot enough. Pizza is well above average if you like thin crust. On occasion, he have had a certain elderly female waitress (I think she may be an owner) who has made some meals aggravating. We're not local regulars, and there is a noticeable difference in the way she treats "us" vs. "them." Also, watch your bill from her. Last time, I ordered iced tea. I took a swig and noticed a soapy taste. I returned it and asked for a soft drink. She then charged me for both. Really? When we go there, we'll wait near the door to se if she is working. If so, we try to figure out which tables she's serving and then sit elsewhere. It's kind of a little game to us.

Tonight we tried a things we haven’t had before- the BLT Wrap and the 3 meat toasted hoagie. Funny, because we have been coming here since they opened and we always get pizza, pizza sandwiches, chicken, and burgers. Same result- great food and great service. Erin took care of us at the bar. She always does a fantastic job of keeping up with whatever it is that you need. We have a favorite waitress when we sit in the dining area as well- they have good people working here!

Amazing drink selection with $5 martinis, fun and very large bloody marys. The Lemon Drop was spectacular, no too sweet, not too sour, sassy perfection. Stopped in mid week for lunch. We came in and there were only 1 other couple of locals sitting at bar talking to bartender. Bartender seamed mad we sat at bar and interrupted their gossiping. She took our drink order- coffee and a crandberry vodka. She said it would be a while as she would have to brew my coffee. Poured a whiskey cranberry and walked past coffee pot to return to her gossiping. Never brought menus we asked for so we got our own. Decieded on our food and closed our menus and waited. And waited. When she could not be bothered to stop talking even after making eye contact we got up and left.We had been here many times. The food is iffy at best. Usually the tots are good, as are the pizzas. Everything else is a gamble. We won't bother going here for food again. They do have a couple nice bartender owners and music on patio in summer is fun. But we will eat elsewhere.

That man did the utmost right thing in comping that meal, He went above and beyond and it would be nice to see more managers care about every customer and gives great public service. Thank you

We travel through Somerset regularly and usually dine at the Sportsman's for an early dinner or to pick up take-out. As mentioned earlier there are occasions where the female tending bar is polite but not welcoming; however, we've always gotten decent service, especially for a fairly quick turnaround from the kitchen. I've not been disappointed with anything I've ordered over the years. Our favorites are the patty melt, which my husband says is the best he's found. Also, the Chicken ranch sandwich and my favorite is the cat fish roll up.If you're ordering the onion strings, be prepared for a huge plate-full, even the half order is more than enough for 2 people.

The café was clean and comfortable. The menu is awesome. Something for everyone in your party. Not the usual menu choices, a good change from the norm. The kids liked the menu and food as well. The café was quite busy when we arrived and it took some time for a wait person, but once one came we were attended to with friendly and prompt service.
