We had our rehearsal lunch here the day before our wedding and the management and staff was great. We had been in correspondence with the manager and kitchen manager for a number of weeks to set the menu and make sure everything went well.Everyone at The Spot did a great job of welcoming us, making sure everything had drinks and that the food kept coming. Our server was able to take care of all 25 of us and remember who ordered what for drinks. They were able to set up our food buffet style, which was great!Make sure you order their poutine! So good!Hey Dave,Thank you for writing such kind words about us! I really appreciate it coming from someone who has worked in the industry. We are also honored you chose to dine with us for your special occasion. We hope to see ya'll soon and congratulations on the marriage! Thanks,Todd BekeshaManagerThe Spot

Boat House Grille Essex, MA features delicious seafood, prime cut steaks, an oyster/raw bar, pasta, salads, burgers, homemade desserts and fun eats in a casual, relaxing atmosphere.
Sorry to say that Boat House Grille, a seafood restaurant and not too far from the ocean, serves up plastic straws with every drink they serve... including 2 plastic stirrers with alcoholic drinks. They also have trays of plastic straws on the bar so you can take more. When asked why they pass out so many straws, the bartender laughed it off. With a plastic crisis all over our planet, these guys don't get it. I hope they change their policy. Right now plastic is being found in our water and food... yes, all that plastic has gone up the food chain and is now being served up to humans. The fried haddock sandwich with coleslaw and chipotle sauce is delicious but I hope many of trip advisor review readers join the chorus of those who say single-use plastic and straws and stirrers are endangering our oceans... and tell that to the management at Boat House Grille.

Promptly seated for table for 6. Drinks, apps arrived promptly followed by a great variety of luncheon sandwiches, burgers. Cozy/Tavern atmosphere--Fish Tacos, Rueben, Thomas Burger and quesodillas (child's menu) were enjoyed by all! Service from start to finish was prompt and attentive. Affordable. Food was tasty--no issues. Highly recommend.

There were four of us for dinner. Here's the story on the food: - Mussels steamed in wine. - Odd taste. - Stuffed lobster - WAY overdone and dry. - Baked Haddock - WAY overdone. - Pastrami Sandwich - Tiny bit of meat, lots of bread. - Hamburger - Average.

We like this place for the wings, the keno, the beer and the owner. He is usually our server when we show up. He remembers what we drink and brings it over as soon as we walk in. Wings are good and the service is above average. A nice local place to start the night.

We arrived for Sunday Brunch on a beautiful morning to a gorgeous property and restaurant, but looks are deceiving. We were seated immediately to a nearly empty restaurant and greeted by our waitress whom stated it was her first day, which I believe. Here's the quick rundown: Waitress - Nice but definitely not well trained, repeatedly claimed the kitchen was "slammed."Service - Excruciatingly slow is an understatement. Plus, we had to ask for EVERYTHING more than once.Food- A joke for the price, and every order was wrong. Our table of four each ordered eggs over easy and they all came out fried. Three customers ordered potatoe hash and received home fries. Not to mention the kitchen must have been rationing the salsa verde.**We pointed out to the waitress that three of her customers ordered potatoe hash, not home fries. She said she would fix it with the kitchen. The waitress returned a short time later, perhaps her quickest return to our table, only to announce that we would be "upcharged" for the replacement. Ridiculous.Manager - This was all pointed out to the manager, who was indifferent to our experience. She also made it clear that the restaurant had only been open a month. Time - We were there for nearly two hours just to have a few drinks, coffee and breakfast. Value - Certainly not worth the $108 for four. In my opinion, this place needs to offer more training to the wait staff, improve the food preparation and hire effective management. Thanks for pointing out the effort and care that's gone into our atmosphere. The north of Boston area is such a beautiful place and we are trying to create a restaurant environment that's just as scenic and peaceful. It sounds like a lot of aspects of your first visit were not up to the standard we're aiming for in terms of food and service. We've been working on training our staff and equipping our managers to help when issues like this arise. We do hope you'll give us another chance. A 1-star review is hard to see but detailed reviews like this really do help us improve, and we'd love the chance to make things right.

Went on a Saturday afternoon in early April. The outdoor seating was in place, but still a little nippy for sitting outside, so we went in. Fairly empty inside. The flights are all pre-chosen per the menu, but the waitress said she'd put a custom one together - but they really didn't have a huge selection we were interested in anyway. No cask ale selection ('cask is broken'!)Quite a limited menu, we split a 'pizza', which turned out to be a flatbread (they should describe it correctly!) which was ok, nothing spectacular, and not filling for 2 people for lunch.

You enter this keen looking facility, the staff are warm, professional, and hard working. Our server Karen was quite diligent in her service to us.They had a special St. Patrick's Day menu; three of our party of four chose from that menu. This writer picked the Bunless Hamburger.Beverages arrived promptly. Now I commend the BT for serving properly brewed iced tea; too many facilities in this area don't. Happy points for the tea.Two of our party ordered the Corned Beef/Cabbage. Mass quantity, thin on the protein. My wife ordered the Guiness Beef Stew, exceptionally thin on the protein, the broth was lacking density and flavour. I doubt it would sell in Galway, Limerick, or Cork.My burger was an excellent piece of protein, appropriately cooked, and quite good. It was served on a conglomeration of vegetables that lacked flavour, the fineness of the meat was not supported by the base. A side salad called "Caesar" was really plain but a strong complement.Prices were reasonable although the tea charged by the glass was a little high; as good as it is.High marks for service, Karen is determinedly proficient. The kitchen had some hits and a few misses.

Fried clams were first rate. Pub burger thick, delicious and cooked to perfection. Grilled chicken sandwich top notch. Interior is dated but in a charming way. Everything was a bit old fashioned which is to say utterly enjoyable. So pleased we CBR. Keep up the good work. A real antidote to todayâs plastic world.
