We booked for four adults and two dogs in the bar, increasing it to seven people as plans changed. Thanks to Courtney for facilitating the booking. We had ample space. The food was delivered hot, and everyone was served at the same time. However, for the price of this roast dinner I expected crispy not hard potatoes. This is a really busy establishment, and on a sunny Sunday the staff battled to cope. So despite having to go to the bar for drinks and to order the food ourselves, tables remained uncleared and the toilets needed attention. And when we went to pay we had to wait too long.Sorry to be critical, but we spent a lot of money today, and our experience could have been better.Hi JULLOF,Thank you for your feedback. That's a real shame - as we don't usually reserve tables in the 'bar' area with dogs as this is treated on a 'first come, first served' basis, as per our bookings terms & conditions (as we do get very busy, and people fail to turn up a lot of the time) - however we went out of our way to do this for you (Courtney especially) and make sure we could accommodate you as best as we can, and adding more people to the already full bar for you.Apologies that you felt that just the roast potatoes weren't crispy enough for you - I hope everything else was good for you.We do recommend to book in our restaurant area to receive full table service if this is what was lacking for you.Thank you,ThomasGeneral Manager

We popped in here one Sunday evening for a meal. The staff were friendly and efficient. Had macaroni cheese which was very good and would recommend. Can get very busy and there is a childrens play area so it can be a little noisy. You do feel that you are truly in the forest.Glad you enjoyed the food and service I will pass on your compliments; may I suggest if you don't like it too busy pop in one lunch over the week when the Little Darlings are back at school. It's a much different atmosphere.

We had high expectations for this pub, as my husband cycled past it many months ago and commented what a lovely place it looked. We booked the caravan park next door and thought the pub would be a perfect end to a long new forest walk. Sadly, the food left a lot to be desired - the menu was disappointingly dull, with bulk standard pub grub options. This would have been fine if the quality had been good, but the portions were small (half a rack of ribs = 4 ribs!!) and half a bowl of cheesy chips for over £4. The service was mediocre and pretty slow. They do however know how to cook chips. I wouldnât rush back and thereâs lots of great competition around that Iâd much rather try out. Itâs a shame, as the campsite next door is run very efficiently with lovely facilities. We are sorry to hear your visit was disappointing and the menu choices are usually commented by how much choice there is normally As in another negative TA perhaps another âpart menuâ was collected however the great news is we have a new menu out this October (in a different format) As for quality we will investigate this as it is not the normPlease come back and try us again

Suddenly thought of this place for lunch whilst driving back through the forest. We ordered our favourites, Spicy Malaysian noodles and King Prawn Pad Thai, Served fresh and hot, temperature hot and flavour hot. This place never disappoints. Not expensive either, so will have to visit here more often.

Visited on Saturday and sunday this week and wouldn't bother again.Saturday we along with 3 other customers to be served drinks at the bar for 10 minutes before being served.I counted 4 bar staff that all appeared to be working then one decided his shift was over and left leaving three to handle what didnt appear to be a super busy bar still struggling. The barman must have been new as he didnt even know the beers in the fridge when i asked for one and i had to show him which one and where. Then couldnt remmeber the order of two beers and two crisps to put through the till. Not letting this service put us off we returned on Sunday for lunch. Told we had to pay to park £4 for 2 hours seemed steep. Then told we couldnt eat outside and there was very few tables inside that didnt appear to be booked and no body appeared to know how long the wait would be for food. So we took ourselves to the competition across the road who where busy but had 2 spare tablets they also had free parking and the roast was lovely. A smile and a polite apology was all your team needed to offer. Instead it was rude and made to feel our custom unwantedMany thanks for bringing your poor experience to my attentionIâd be more than happy to try and rectify this poor experience for yourself, please give me a call on 01425403423 at your earliest convenience Kind regardsSasha

Nice traditional pub with a log fire and good atmosphere. We all enjoyed the Dexter roast beef Sunday lunch followed by the Terry's chocolate orange cheesecake with ice-cream for dessert. The food was cooked and presented beautifully, priced very well and the service was excellent.
