Went to this place to be greeted by grumpy staff at the bar after 15 minutes of waiting to be served. There wasn't that many people in there either. I ordered a mixed grill, which took almost an hour to arrive at our table. When I received my food, the sausages were really burnt and looked old and reheated, as though they were from someone's leftovers from the previous day, the gammon like rubber, chicken very very dry and the steak very raw. I like a rare steak but raw is taking the piss. I were so hungry , I felt I had to eat what I could. I said to the waitress about the food being awful and she just laughed and walked away, now that's very rude. The manager didn't even come out and no one knew where the manager were. I will never go there ever again and I will be telling anyone I hear talking about going, to avoid at all cost. Well where to start! Firstly the parking is shocking itâs a kind of free for all in the âcar parkâ with cars being blocked in by others . In the end we had to park down the road on the grass verge which really isnât safe.We had booked a table but upon arriving there was a queue nearly outside the door of people waiting to be seated... having talked to another couple they said they had been waiting awhile to be seated too and they also had booked Finally we got taken to our table only for a member of staff to come and clean the table whilst we were sat there. The place itself resembled some kind of works canteen ...if thatâs what you like well thatâs fine, but itâs very outdated. Also it was so loud in there and the music blaring out really didnât help. I cannot leave a review for the food or the drinks for that matter as service was so terrible we left ! We had ordered drinks and sat there for over half an hour waiting! To be fair the waitress I complained to was very apologetic and very nice but Still after being told we were still sat there waiting ! As we left I told a member of staff at the bar why we were going and she didnât seem interested and shrugged her shoulders with no apology at all. We certainly will not be back. As we were leaving the people on the table next to us told us they had to wait an hour and a half to be served which is totally unacceptable. If you cannot cope due to staffing levels then do not take so many bookings, simple!Good morning mollymooz.We are incredibly sorry that you felt so let down.Due to staff illness we had three members of staff off we can assure you the service is normally 5*.as you can imagine Sundays is a very busy day for us so it effected us massively with only finding out at 10 am that morning that three of my staff members would not be attending work.I can assure you this kind of service will never happen again so i really hope we might see you again in the future.kind regards jon

On route from Wellingborough to East Yorkshire I found this Oasis crewed by the friendliest folk you could ever meet.My lunch was most enjoyable and really good value.Worth a mention are the crew Sabrina, Brook and Giorgio.I will definitely return when I am next in the area

Paper mills was recommended to us by some local folk n the village of Elton - our dinner last night was wonderful - good, fresh produce, cooked, prepared & presented nicely. We would highly recommend The Paper mills Restarant - Service good and staff friendly. The manager Marcus was very helpful & friendly too! Itâs good to talk to others when you are out & about you get to find about local hidden treasures.

Excellent lay out. Tables well spread out. Peaceful environment. A sincere welcome and fast bar service. Waitress very obliging. Not rushed for ordering but timely. We had mains and desserts. The food was delivered quickly, was beautifully presented and excellent portion. The fish and chips were delicious. Dessert choices were lovely. A great experience. Highly recommended.

We were rescued from the prospect of no evening meal by the kindness of 'The Bell'. We had booked at the nearby 'The Fox' but when we turned up, it was shut up, there was nobody answering the phone and no notice on the door. As this was the weekend where the whole area around Stamford is overwhelmed by The Burghley Horse Trials we had little hope of an alternative but drove to 'The Bell' just in case. Nathan at the bar was brilliant. He found us a table in the bar, and despite the Bistro and Restaurant being fully booked, made sure we had excellent service and were well cared for. The meal was the best we'd had in months. They really know how to cook meat here! And the puddings, all home made, were amazing. We could not fault this place and want to say a HUGE THANK YOU, for your kindness to a family of refugees who would otherwise have gone hungry. Next year we'll book with 'The Bell'.Thank you for taking the time to review us on trip advisor .I am delighted we were able to accomodate you on such a busy night .I will pass on your thanks to the team and look forward to your visit next year .Kind RegardsJohanna Grimshaw General Manager

Nice village pub with a friendly welcome and good choice of drinks. Menu had a good selection and all food cooked fresh. We had a table booked for 7pm the food was good and priced reasonably. Really good kids play around out side.Only negative was service was very slow. Would go back if service was quicker. Even when it quietened down service was still slow. At one point I went to the bar to get another drink. Shame as everything else spot

Rubble the Golden Retriever chirped in " I can't understand why anyone would moan about not bringing their dogs in to join us - perhaps they never bothered asking. You can even get Pints of beer in here for our Hoomuns from only £2 to £3 at special times of the week - can't see how anyone would think that's expensive!." Bailey said "apparently the Hoomuns like the food quite a lot and they say it's good value for money. (I even get to try it at times)"" Strange how anyone would think that it is not a village pub", said Hector, " I might be young but even I know that it is a pub located in a village." " I know," yelped Izzie " lets call it the Village Kennel and we'll let Hoomuns join us for a nice overpriced bone now and then!" And off they all ran to the park in the happy knowledge that they could go back into the pub at any time.

We had a nice meal. The food was good pub food, reasonably priced and done well. However, having looked at the menu on the website, we were rather disappointed. There was no fish option on the main courses, and the main course menu was more limited now being mainly pub classics, steaks and burgers. On the nibbles menus, "lightly dusted calamari" now comes as heavily battered calamari. I would politely suggest that the pub update their website menu to avoid disappointing new customers. I have still given the pub 4 stars because the service was friendly and welcoming, the beer was well kept, the food that we had was good and there was a reasonable range of gluten free options. However this is a good village pub, not a gastro pub.
