We were in Nisswa last week, staying at Grand View Lodge, and ended up going to Northwoods Pub for dinner, given that it was the off-season and there were not many choices, especially in the mid-range price category. My major complaint was that the restaurant was way too crowded and noisy. Also, the food was just okay with not many choices for vegetarians. One of our party got sick from the chicken on his salad and could not join us for the wonderful breakfast buffet at the lodge the next morning.

Seemed like a lot of locals and we fish out of water but it must have been the owner who immediately greeted and seated us. Awesome food. Loved the steak salad-large-didnât want to eat it all but couldnât resist. Iâd like to go back tomorrow night!
We had the stuffed walleye last Friday night with another couple. On Friday nights the Legion offers three different specials every week. All four of us thought this was one of the greatest fish meals we had ever had. No breading on the fish with a seafood shrimp & crab meat stuffing, a perfectly cooked baked potato, and a simple salad. We had pretty good luck at the meat raffle too. We had so much fun we are going back down this Friday for a crack at a different special.

My husband and I stop every so often at the Big Axe Brewery. The brewery is attached to a restaurant- we haven't eaten there, but the food always looks great. We enjoy the outdoor seating at Big Axe. The inside brewery has limited seating- but in the winter time it works great. I like the variety of beers to try. The 'only' problem is service. On a busy weekend staff is stretched with cooking, waiting tables and pouring beers. The brewery area sometimes has their bartender in two different areas. Customers- please know all you need to do is to go to the restaurant side someone will help you. The staff wants you to have a great time and they are willing to let you try different beers. They want you happy. We always enjoy our visit here to Big Axe

There's a men's group that meets at Commander's for breakfast. The service is good and the breakfast pretty darn good! However, for dinner, the ribs tops any ribs i've had, anywhere in the world. Fall-off-bone is an apt description but you can tell there is a little more care taken in the preparation and for the sauce provided. Addictive? Yes, in my opinion.

Main Street Ale House is a family friendly restaurant located in downtown Nisswa. Patio Dining, 30 taps, a unique menu all in a modern lodge building.
This is a delightful restaurant in downtown Nisswa. A great selection of Midwest beers on draft - like, maybe 20 - along with a minimalist menu of appealing food. I went with grilled walleye which was outstanding, while my wife had a salad. All in all, a great place to eat or sample local brews. Friendly staff adds to the charm.

All summer Dockside keeps you singing & dancing! Great live entertainers either out on the humongous deck or in the bar. Plenty of smiling staff on hand. Who could ask for more? Plus, a big cruise boat!
This is not a good place to go for Pan Fried Walleye. They serve it with loaded mashed potatoes which is a very small serving with bacon bits, green onions and cheese and 4 small pieces of asparagus. Also the price is high.

We love this place. And heck, for $14 on Saturday nights they have an all-you-can-eat buffet. Itâs got home cooked style fried chicken, mash potatoes, salad bar, dinner rolls, bread pudding and more. Regular old working man beers and spirits. Actually a huge selection of liquor; this place is much larger than it looks and is a local hot spot all year round. If you are not from Minnesota, this is a bonafide off-the-beaten-trail Minnesota gen with a taste of the local culture. Lots of paraphernalia on the wall for your viewing pleasure (ya gotta look close at some of this stuff; really interesting. Fun atmosphere, great servers,

My daughter, 4 year old granddaughter and I stopped in for a late lunch after shopping. Our server Emily? Was very nice, efficient and prompt! We had the Reuben balls as our appetizer, yummy! We shared the Cajun chicken wrap and fries, HUGE! Very tasty also! Ohhhhh the Bloody Mary was good too!! Cheers!
