The staff welcome you as you enter and are always cheerful. The menu is plenty of choice and quite reasonably priced. The food is all served together(usually 13 of us) and is of good quality and very well presented. Also great tasting. Love it there. Thank you for your review and so glad you enjoyed your meal.

Went there unannounced as a party of 22 and found enough space. Managed a scramble a few chairs and tables together. Was warned before we ordered that food would be 40 minutes. Ok with that as just wanted a drink to begin with and watch a bit of footie. The manager also put together a few tables so our party could sit together. Food was really nice and the booze cheap. Compared to Buckinghamshire anyway. The manager came over at 9pm to warn us u18s werenât allowed after 9.30pm. I was fine with that. I donât want kids running around if Iâm on a night out. A singer came on at about 9.30ish and was pretty good. Bit loud but then Iâm getting on. They let u18 have a beer as long as they are with an adult and eating. Well they did on this occasion unlike the Harvester in Sarn up the road. That was the reason we didnât eat there. But thatâs a different story. Overall if youâre after good food, atmosphere and cheap beer youâll be alright here. Seems to have a lot of locals too. They even likevthe English. hi Thank you for kind review and as a rule we don't allow under 18s alcohol at all not even with meals. You must have slip threw our net this time. We are very happy you enjoyed your evening tho and will relay this back to out team. See you in the near future.

At the Haywain, Bridgend we serve a wide selection of homecooked pub food. There are plenty of choices available to suit everyones tastes, from a lighter bites section, homemade pizzas, traditional pub favourites and a steak and grill section.
Went for Sunday lunch and even though we had booked a table near the ladies toilets as my mother has problems walking, when we got there the waitress said our table was the opposite end of the pub. She then said there was a table near the ladies which was much better for us. They took our drinks order and we waited ages for them to arrive, in fact I went to the bar to ask where they were then I saw the waitress carrying them. Food arrived and 3 of us had beef and 1 chicken, plenty of meat but the yorkshire pud was hard and hollow, roast potatoes not crispy, veg (cauli, carrots, broccoli, cabbage) totally tasteless and tasted as if it had all been cooked without salted water, gravy was thin and tasted like Bisto and none of the meals were hot, they weren't cold by any means but they could of been hotter. And at £10.95 for just the main course, not good value at all. In fact on their website the price for chicken, pork and beef is £9.95 and £10.95 for lamb but when you are there the price for chicken, pork and beef is £10.95 and lamb £12.95 - so rather misleading!Desserts were £4.95 and 2 of my party had one, could be served with cream, ice cream or custard, they opted for the cream which was the yucky squirty one.The waitresses were friendly but the food was a big disappoitment and we would not go back again.

My sister, our elderly aunties and I went for an early dinner and the service was impeccable - so fun and friendly - and nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful and delicious, a great mix of pub favourites and modern tapas. We had such a great time. Highly recommend!

Used to visit The Ivor arms when under previous management and always had a very nice meal. Went there today for the fisrt time since bing taken over and was very disapointed. After waiting a long time for our meal it finally arrived, and did not look very appetising. My burger was burnt, our chips were not cooked properly and were barely warm, as were the fried eggs. My husband had asked for poached eggs but was thn told that the chef was cleaning the oven he poaches the ggs in so could he have fried!.. I always thought eggs were poached in water on the hob, and why would you be cleaning the oven in the middle of lunchtime serviceWill not be going back!Hi Jones19872Firstly can I thank you for visiting our pub!We have recently been taken back over by Brains which has resulted in a brand new menu, and new management, since taken over we have completely overhaled the kitchen and pub we have introduced specs and all new equipment and still having worked carried out as we speak as issues are arising with equipment which is out of our control, we have now got a very goof EHO rating of 4* which is a massive improvement of the previous 2* the old management had we are working extremely hard to get a 5* and also get a 5* in our cellar audit which will show how passionate and proud we are of our pub.I am sorry that we didn't meet you standards on your visit, our oven was being cleaned due to work being carried out on the kitchen earlier that morning which resulted in partials from the wall landing on the hob which would of been a fire hazard if not cleaned we was only able to fry eggs from a pan on the grill as the grill isn't consistent enough to boil water and is a massive H+S hazard, unfortunately this resulted in us not being able todo poached eggs but also not wanting to disappoint the customer we tried to find other solution's at the time which would work best, I am sorry for this and the last thing we want is to take anything off the menu. Again I am extremely sorry we didn't meet your expectations and can only hope you visit us again and get to experience what all the guests that leave us amazing reviews experience. Kind regards Liam Wall

Charming village pub serving home cooked meals, real ales, great wines. We offer a choice for most diners including Gluten Free and Vegan.
After a very warm welcome from Georgie, we were shown to our table. Everything lovely and clean. Food was lovely with no complaints from any of our party of Seven. Enjoyed drinks in the garden afterwards. Lovely pub and friendly staff. Home made gravy and light crispy Yorkshire puddings would have been a five stars. We will visit again even if it is a forty minute drive. Thanks again.

We have been to the Star Inn on many occasions and have never been disappointed. We were here on Saturday evening at 6pm to celebrate my birthday. The car park is small and tend to be busy so we decided to eat earlier. We had the fisherman's net to start (highly recommend!), and for mains we had the beef burger, chicken ballotine and fish and chips. The chips were very well cooked, so were all the main courses. Chicken was well-seasoned and moist (not over-cooked), beef burger was again moist and juicy and fish was delicious. The seasonal veg was also well-prepared and cooked (still al dente and not lifeless/soggy like how many other places serve them). Portion sizes were generous. Food was good value and unpretentious. Service was fast and attentive. This shows this is a place with a good team in place. The chefs clearly take pride in what they make, care about their food and place importance on attention to detail. The waiting staff were confident, friendly and efficient. If I were to suggest any improvements, I would say write down the specials on a few small blackboards to pass around instead of reading out to customers. Some of us are more visual!

The Pantruthyn Farm is unique as it is built on old farmland and some of the original farmhouse was incorporated into the building you see today. Our Kitchen team ensures that all of the freshly cooked, seasonal food which comes out of her kitchen is of t
Went to Pantruthyn Farm with my wife and daughter for dinner and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we all ordered . Hand-Battered Fish** & ChipsWith garden peas : Although the piece of fish wasnât as big as other places Iâve eaten recently and seemed to be a lot more batter than fish . My daughter had the Chicken Makhani Curry :A medium-hot curry made with chicken breast in a tomato and cream sauce, topped with Greek style yoghurt. Served with basmati rice, naan bread and mango chutney.( Half & Half not available here ) My wife had the Chicken & Bacon Open Club Sandwich:Strips of chicken breast, crispy bacon, tomato and mayonnaise on an open, warm ciabatta, served with skinny cut fries.

My mother loves it here because of the salad. They have a new menu so we ordered off the fixed menu, having two bowls of tomato and basil soup to start and one gammon with baked potato and a fish pie with vegetables. Both courses were hot and tasty but the vegetables are hugely disappointing. Why anywhere would choose to serve awful rubbery frozen food is beyond me but apart from that everything else was fine. The salad bar was well stocked and we were very full by the end of the two courses. The staff were friendly and helpful and no doubt weâll return soon.Thank you Susaq12 for the fantastic feedback especilly about the veg chioce. The choice of veg we use is out of our control but I will indeed make sure that they are hot. your feedback will be given to all my kitchen team.
