Lovely refurbishment of this old pub everything bright fresh and new. Great layout and furniture. One area set up as a restaurant and one as separate bar area. Great pub style grub good selection of home made pies too. We had a vegetable burger which was vegetables not pretend meat served with regular chips and a salad. Also a Steak and Ale pie with chunky chips and peas. Good service. Like the scissors to open the sachets of sauces etc better than the normal struggle opening them nice touch. Well worth a visit the beer looked good shame I had to drive,

Sunday lunch for four people. Nice restaurant if a little short on space. Staff were very nice, welcoming, efficient and attentive. Average main meal (beef, chicken) which did not impress or upset anyone. Everything piled up as is the norm these days. Desert was best forgotten about - all agreed that the choices sounded better than they were - but other than that the beer was ok

Once again we called in here to break the journey to our holiday destination - it was half way between here and there still had good reviews on tripadvisor and was great last year!Once again we were made to feel very welcome even though traffic on the M25 and M11 meant we were more than 40 minutes late! The food though was as good as we remembered and tasted great - the steak and ale pie was great. If we are ever passing again we will be back without a shadow of a doubt!Thankyou for your review , we are glad you enjoyed your visit and hope to see you again

A Rural Country Pub and Spanish Restaurant 'El Pais' set in the heart of the tranquil Suffolk countryside just a few miles down a country lane off the A143, and only 10 minutes from Newmarket. A wealth of exposed beams, inglenook fireplaces, and a warm co
We wanted somewhere to meet my Dad for Xmas present giving but we live 3 hours apart. Found this place on the internet and it had good reviews so decided to try it today for Sunday lunch. It lived up to its reviews good Sunday lunch and a good desert to follow. Well worth a visit even though itâs tucked away. Only giving it 4 star rating though due to small odd shaped car park and also I felt the waitress and waiter who I know must be school age were a bit heavy handed they seemed to throw the plates down at us.Thank you Debbie for taking the time to write a review glad you found us. Yes as a country pub we inherited and odd shaped car park due to previous owners retaining the land in differing chunks over the years luckily we are able to rent half of it back from one land owner otherwise it would be half the size and parking would be on the road only. Not much we can do about it I am afraid, as the land owner on the other side would not sell or rent. With regard to the poor service you received, yes they are school or college age most of our staff are as it suits them for a part time job and finding staff in the country if very difficult. This does not excuse their heavy handedness and we will be ensuring further training is received. I am confident this will be rectified as both staff members enjoy the work and will be devastated to hear of their failings in their defence they were under a lot of pressure due to a large party, one was experienced and carrying the other who was new and unfortunately very nervous. However your poor experience in this area is not acceptable and we will be ensuring service is of a high standard and continues to be friendly, and courteous at all times despite other pressures. Both members of staff are very conscientious and will be able to learn in a positive way from your comments so thank you for pointing this out such comments are needed to ensure we always offer the best of service. We hope to welcome you again soon, when you have another family gathering.

Revitalised and reopened in October 2013. The Packhorse Inn offers a truly stunning dining and staying experience. Mediocrity is most certainly not on the menu or indeed any aspect of this eight bedroom country inn, which deliberately sets out to stretch
Cycled out here from Cambridge on Friday. Lovely building - itâs as good as the photos. Friendly and professional welcome from Hannah and the team. Good beer (Pure Gold) at a welcoming bar space. Delicious food (we had asparagus with pear and shallot to start, followed by chorizo and Parmesan crusted cod with white bean ragout, and my wife had wild mushroom with pearl barley ragout). Not much vegetarian choice but the mushrooms were just fine! Thanks everyone! Hope we will be back soon! JDear Jamesscff, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Great to hear we looked after you so well, I have passed your praise onto Hannah, thank you. The team and I look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards Stuart

We were travelling from Southwold to our home in Rugby and we needed a break for our evening meal. TripAdvisor recommended the Bull and so we left the A14 to find this inn. We were not disappointed!! As it was a fine evening we were able to eat outside. We enjoyed a lovely meal which was reasonably priced. Highly recommend. Many thanks for your lovely review ,its great to hear you enjoyed your visit , please do call again if you are in the area

High expectations of the Wellington, but really let down with the Sunday Roast. Roast potatoes and Yorkshire were certainly out of the freezer, not sure about the beef. Really looking forward to the roast after reading the reviews, but it was not to be. Waitresses very good but they could not make up for our disappointment. Such a shame.HelloThank you for taking the time to do us a reviewWe are really sorry and disappointed that you didn't enjoy your sunday lunch. We can assure you the roast potatoes and Yorkies are not out of the freezer and everything is cooked fresh on the premises. The only thing we can say is to tell a member of staff next time as we can try and rectify the issue or give you an alternative.Apologies againGeorgina

Just been to this pub/restaurant for a meal and and evening of entertainment. Have to say it was well worth going to. The food was home cooked and was lovely, the actual venue was great as were the staff and owners. A visit is a must. Definitely will be going back. Congratulations to all concerned for a great evening.
