Reviews on Pub food in Nelson, South Island, New Zealand. Nelson’s thriving arts and music scene has helped to establish it as a destination for free spirits and art-lovers. Festivals, studios, galleries, craft markets… Every cranny of this South Island city seems to buzz with artistic energy. Lord of the Rings fans will flip for the Jens Hansen workshop in Trafalgar Square—Hansen is the goldsmith who designed the “precious” guarded by Frodo in the LOTR films.

The Honest Lawyer has become a Nelson icon with friendly service, a relaxing atmosphere, excellent food and unique accommodation, making it a perfect stop for locals and visitors alike.
Went there for our wedding anniversary lunch and selected the fish and chips. After a long wait the 2 plates arrived. On them was a small amount of salad, some over cooked fries , some were even black, along with 2 small pieces of fish coated in a large amount of burnt batter. The fish had dried up inside and tasted terrible. Will not be going back there again, would not recommend.

Escape the ordinary!, A craft brewery in the heart of Nelson serving up tasty hand crafted boutique beers from our own onsite brewery and others from around the country. An experience you will be sure to remember, not only for the great beverages and cool
I Popped in on a whim on a Sunday Evening as I was googling Nelson nightlife in order to find something to do. What a find! First off, through the big sliding door you're welcomed by a really cool, industrial setting with the bar in a large shipping container and lots of seating. I had a great pizza and a beer as part of a food and drink deal that day. The pizza was brilliant (pear and blue cheese!!!) And the beers were fantastic.I had a wee chat with the lady who owns it, and she was absolutely lovely, very easy to talk to and clearly passionate about her and her partners brewery in little old Nelson. Keep up the great work and keep the passion!I will be returning as soon as I am back in the Nelson and would recommend anyone visiting to do the same :)CheersThanks for your wonderful comments, yes we are truly passionate about what we do here at the workshop, and it wouldn't be possible without the fantastic team we have here.CheersNigelCo owner

McCashins Brewery Kitchen and Bar has just undergone a fantastic full refurbishment and fit-out. The amazing new space is open with all new menus including a full a la carte lunch and evening menu. Serving great coffee, delicious food & crafted brews. We
Well weâve eaten breakfast at probably most places in nelson, this was the worst sadly. We came here on recommendations weâve seen & because we live just around the corner. Talk about disappointing for such expensive breakfasts! Stone cold bacon & sausages & the poached eggs tasted of nothing but vinegar (ridiculously sour) -so did the hollandaise. Someone really needs to learn how to make hollandaise properly ( and please serve it HOT not cold - especially when charging people $2 extra for it on an already $22 breakfast) MIL had eggs bene .. with a mountain of raw spinach.. yuk. Along with sour eggs & sour hollandaise it was inedible. The boys picked at what they could stomach so it didnât go to waste . Bacon was cooked well and yum once the kitchen reheated it all, itâs good quality and the only saving grace. The mushrooms had a fab flavour too with the herbs but once again being cold makes it really unappealing! Chef couldnât even be bothered to apologise, so staff copped it when they shouldnât have, not hard to come out & say sorry I made a hash of it please come back & try us again another time, nope just ignored us with a surly face. Staff avoided us like the plague once they seen how bad our breakfasts were, no surprises, they were embarrassed. Young girl was rather rude but there was a young blonde guy who tried his best & certainly gave a lot better customer service than anyone else in there. There was only two other tables so not busy. We waited a good half hour if not longer just for breakfast, all eating the same thing bacon & eggs etc, so shouldnât have taken so long. We went on others recommendations but what an expensive lesson. Wouldnât return sadly and we only live around the corner so was so convenient for us .

The Sprig & Fern Tavern Tahuna is situated on Beach Rd just off the main coastal route into Nelson from Richmond. You will be hard pressed to find a bar with a more "outdoorsy" feel. Walk in through the iron gate and white picket fence and take a seat to
With a range of casual indoor and outdoor seating the Sprig & Fern in Tahunanui is a great venue for one of those long overdue catch up with friends. Thereâs the extensive collection of beers and cider on tap plus and a variety of food on the menu including snacks, burgers and pizza. We had the lamb and beetroot pizza - delicious.

This has become one of our locals after regularly receiving good service and excellent craft beer and cider options. The chips could be improved as they are quite thick, but I would highly recommend giving the other menu items a go! Great vibes, great location.

Friendly service, quick cooking, a piece of fish that was deep fried but not oily, the side of summer vegetables was huge, and the cider with syrup flavouring was so good I really should have had another. Will 100% be back the next time we're in Nelson.

Right at the heart of Nelson City CBD is the Hardy St Sprig and Fern Tavern. A full range of natural, locally brewed craft beers and regional wines are available to go with a mouth watering selection of pub food including traditional English pork pies. Re
We ate - and drank - here twice while in Nelson. My husband's nachos were so good the first time, I ordered them the second time. Unfortunately there were not great that time. Just a melded together mess of congealed components. The curried sausage and rice was good though. And the beer selection as well. Note there's outdoor seating around the back as well as on the sidewalk/street. Overall an enjoyable place.

We have been here many times. Usually quite good. Not today! Service bad, waitress answering back with a smart comment. Had to keep asking what we were having. We waited for them to come over so we could have a second drink. Got up ourselves. Chicken filo overdone, but nice flavour. Requested no coulis on apple turnover. We could tell it had been scraped off and covered with icing sugar. There were no pleasantries and no effort being made to make us feel welcome. It will be a while before we return.Thankyou for taking the time to review us. All feedback is appreciated especially for training purposes, we pride ourselves on our food and our service. We are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience with us and hope you bought your concerns to either your server or the duty manager on the day. As part of our commitment to service and quality assurance every meal is checked within a few minutes of being delivered to the table and if there are any issues we are happy to either replace the meal with another of the same or something else of your choosing on the menu.

We have had many enjoyable lunches at SPEIGHT'S, however, when we went this week and had the BLUE COD it was just plain awful, not very fresh and over cooked. We should have sent it back but just wanted to get out quickly. Will not hurry to go back.

From my first review I now love this place and we often come here for work functions. The pizzas are thin based and I love the mushroom and apricot chicken the best. Fantastic selection of craft beers and goid wine selection. Good place for end of week drinks and catch ups.
