Stopped halfway round a walk. Decided to have a small bite to eat and didnât want a sarni.Decided on the ploughmanâs and a side dish of the house salad. As we still had half the walk to do we decided to share.Delicious food and there was more than enough to share.Excellent side salad with olives, feta and sundried tomatoes. Mixture of lovely leaves. The ploughmanâs had couple of cheeses, Stilton and cheddar, lovely thick cut ham and pork pie. Multigrain bread and pickled onions. Service was quick and the staff were friendly.Excellent toilets, clean and modern.

We love our food here at the Golden Lion and we hope that you will too. You can choose from menus which have been created to showcase the best local in season produce, sourced from trusted suppliers throughout Settle and the surrounding area.
Ate here Wednesday evening - Settle appeared quite busy, even the Market Place parking was fully occupied. Very welcoming staff, ate in the dining room which is bright, clean, comfortable & warm. We found lots to choose from on the menu - there was even a good choice of around 15 Tapas dishes although we didn't order any -will return though for these!Lovely food - the chunky chips were excellent! Tap water offered too at the point of showing us to our table along with a good drinks service throughout the meal. The waiting on staff appear well trained in etiquette too. Their tasty (& large) beef suet pudding was excellent. The Creme Brulee was fab. They also offer a small portion of desert of the day with a tea/coffee of choice for £6 - the brownie drizzled with chocolate sauce was just the right size.We shall certainly recommend to others and will return for Tapas one evening.

Invited by friends to accompany them to the Boars Head for drinks and a meal.Nice ambience in the bar and good beer.Ordered food, anticipated a good feed my friends having been here several times.Food duly arrived , however the cutlery was not present and had to be requested before we were able to eat.We also noticed this occurred with other diners nearby, the wait for them varying , (this also occurred with the desserts)my meal was really tasty with the exception of the broccolli which tasted unpleasant. My friends thought I was just whinging but both tasted it and agreed it was not right.Pointed this out to the staff at the time the plates were collected,(also the issue of the cutlery) and pointing out the meal had been very good apart from the Broccolli.Ordered dessert and really enjoyed the apple crumble. My friend having ordered A raspberry Pavlova was dissapointed to discover the raspberries were frozen.Again pointed this out to the waitress(who apologised) and we assumed informed the chef.Whilst waiting for a lift home the manager asked if we had enjoyed the meal , we pointed out that we had with the two exceptions which he apologised for and went into the kitchen to make enquiries , he returned but offered us no other explanation and left us stood there. A nice evening out in good company had the edge taken off it due more to the poor service (no cutlery) and the managements attitude to our comments which were all given in a positive manner

We visited here after walking this weekend, booking a table to come back for dinner. There are special deals every night which we didn't take advantage of but they looked good. We all had different dishes and were all very happy with our food. The pub staff were very friendly giving recommendations around the local area. The pub is also dog friendly with lots of people choosing to bring them along which was nice. Great value fresh food with good service. Would definitely recommend.
