Yeah, at Jax as I write this. The service is practically non existant. Who set up table service? One waitress has all tables but one. Guess which table I have? Beer selection stinks, STINKS. Considered calling the bar to get a drink. WILL NOT come back!
Not catering to just one clientele- Rascals has everything. An extensive menu with includes Prime Rib specials, Standard Pub Fare and beyond, live music, sports, MTV, full liquor, pool tables, gaming, big screen TV, outside patio, infused vodkas & darn good burgers - plus a huge Bavarian pretzel

Great place for couples and teen families. Big portions, excellent atmosphere. Unique drinks as unique as the name.
I called ahead for a pick up for a business lunch I neeed catered. They answered all my questions regarding the menu and offered suggestions. When I arrived to pick up my order I was impressed with the cleanliness of the outside and inside of restaurant. The staff was cheerful and accommodating and my order was done on time. They offered for additional confiments for my takeout. Once I arrived back at my office to start my business lunch we found everything to be prepared hot and fresh. I was very impressed and definitely will use them in the future.

Ate lunch on a Monday with a couple friends and we all had different items. The food was really good but our server was very slow with drink refills. Very frustrating to have to try to eat a meal with nothing to was it down with. The place was not busy so there was no reason for the poor service. Not a place I would visit again.

Sister recommended this place. No clam chowder (only on Fridays). Fish and chips was OK but wife didn't enjoy her chicken caesar salad. Waitress recommended Bloody Mary but it was just OK also. Won't be back. Very few diners but it was only 4:30 in the afternoon on a Sunday. Bar was busy but seemed to have a lot of friends and relatives...and young kids.

Just stopped in for breakfast this morning. Our waitress was very personable and did a great job, and the food was great--between us, we had the dry smoked salmon, the pancake balls with delicious maple syrup and raspberry jam, and the eggs Benedict. Everything was very good and tasted homemade and fresh. Would love to come back in the winter as it is quite cozy!

We stopped for dinner with a friend and were a little disappointed with the service and the flies. We ordered the swordfish and scallop dinners, which were very good. The menu indicated that swordfish dinner came with vegetables, but two cherry tomatoes and two brussel sprouts didn't seem like you could call it a side of vegetables. The waitress wasn't very attentive, and we had to wait for coffee. When she brought it, it was obviously very week, so we had to wait again for her to return. We were early for dinner, so it wasn't that she was overly busy. We had to ask for bread, which normally is served with dinner. The flies were more attentive than the waitress, and unfortunately when we first sat down we asked about a table in the back room, but she said they were just as bad back there. Not sure if that was the case, or she didn't want to lose a table. Anyway, the restaurant needs to do something to get rid of the flies - very irritating when you're trying to eat, and a health hazard that should be looked into. We usually bring a guest along, frequently from out of town, and for the cost we expect a little better dinner environment. They aren't showing their best foot forward for Rockford. I have to give them a grade of B- on this trip. Hopefully things will come back up to their regular high standards.

The location of a historic brewery along the Rock River is very nice and has been lovingly refurbished. Our service was good, but my hamburger was pretty basic and needed a bit more seasoning and flavor. Good basic restaurant.

We found this establishment on Trip Advisor. We visited on a busy Friday evening and on a slower Sunday afternoon in the same weekend. Our experience Friday night was great- quickly seated, lively atmosphere, friendly staff, exceptional ale list and creative drinks (weak pour but still good flavor on the one I had). The appetizer- buffalo spring rolls- were well presented, timely served, and had a good mix of flavors and texture. We were a party of 2. Our experience on Sunday was different and disappointing compared to Friday. This time there were 5 of us. We were seated but told our table was reserved for a group at 2, which right away feels like they are telling you to hurry up- and if concerned why seat us there anyway? It was 12:20 when we arrived. They were not over busy. We ordered three creatively curated burgers from the special menu, shrimp bruschetta, fish tacos, pesto/Parmesan & garlic wings, house fries as sides, and another of the buffalo spring rolls. We waited three times the amount of time we waited on the busy Friday night...to be served warm, not hot, buffalo spring rolls, and fishy tasting shrimp bruschetta (my bite was cold -couldnât figure out if undercooked or canned shrimp) ...presentation on bruschetta decent otherwise, buffalo spring rolls were ok but not as well presented nor hot like on Friday. Our drinks were fine but again the cocktail I ordered (from the special menu) was good but weakly poured. Very little alcohol present and lots of sweet. Good but noticeable on both drinks both times. (Cost didnât equal pour) A bit too long later our other food arrived. Burgers were good but a tad underdone for way they were ordered...they were topped with asparagus & over easy eggs amongst other good ingredients with chili pepper flakes on top. House fries served with burgers were barely warm, however. Overall presentation good. Fish tacos were a bit sloppy on presentation, but fine -over âsaucedâ and fishy tasting on some of the bites. The person who ordered these could not finish last one (we just tasted it to see if it was just her palate...it wasnât) as by then she has lost her appetite due to not knowing what taste she would get....That all said we also had the wings. They were served at the right time with the rest of meal. They have 4-5 kinds on menu. We had the garlic and pesto -âManagiaâ- We ordered these âbaked then friedâ (their words) wings extra fried for crispiness. They arrived barely warm on the edge of âsitting on the counter way too longâ type of temp and taste- The taste was not good and we love wings. After not being able to get waitresses attention (we didnât see her for a good 5 min after our food was served) we actually got up and approached another server (again they were not that busy) about the barely warm fries and wings. They replaced the fries quickly and didnât ask if we wanted them to- (we knew we didnât have time to wait that long again) - but just remade the wings. By the time they were brought out, most of the rest of the meal was finished. This time they were hotter, but something again was off. Not very crispy for extra fried and flavor was very unpleasant on the tongue. Definitely can tell they were baked and then brought back to life through the fryer, kinda like that reheated meat flavor with a pungent pesto (not in a good way -and we love garlic & Parmesan) and lack luster presentation. We tried them but did not eat many. The flavor and texture (very thick on the palate) was just too off and by now because things took so long we needed to go- That said, all of this less the weak drink was brought to our servers attention. She was very nice, attentive when present, and the kitchenâs issues were not her fault...but nothing was done that we noted to adjust our bill. I donât know if she had the power to do anything but no management came to our table, either. We didnât make a huge deal out of it, either, I guess, which we could have, but time wise we just needed to be done. Even a water spilled off the uneven table as we left. It was just frustrating. We will return for the buffalo spring roll app, an ale and friendly staff. We will be very wary otherwise based on this experience. Note: nice Ale house atmosphere. Fun signs and such on walls. Entry not as clean as it should be but inside was clean and welcoming. Easy parking.
