The Bridge Inn at Ratho is situated on the banks of The Union Canal, 7 miles to the west of Edinburgh in the picturesque village of Ratho. Graham and Rachel Bucknall took over the Bridge Inn in 2010 and have undertaken an extensive refurbishment project t
Well. I love my food and a nice beer. We came in off the canal after cruising from Falkirk. I think this is the first canal side pub we have passed. We walked in for lunch and were asked if we made a booking? Ahhh no. Who books a pub lunch? You will just have to wait for us to make a table. We were told. Saw on the way in we were at a Michelin recommended pub. Wow impressive. No. Service was poor. Prices were expensive foe what was just a well written pub menu. Had to ask for more drinks. Water bottle stayed empty the whole meal. Tables around us stayed un cleaned and cluttered. Then had to wait around and ask for our bill. This would all be ok if I only paid a Tenner for my meal but a pie and veg was 15 quid. Sorry but that is forty bucks were I come from and that is a lot of money. Nice food. Over priced and un attentive staff. Not really recommended. Thank you for your review - although we are disappointed to read it. We do find over the summer - in particular August - that we can be exceptionally busy and so we do recommend booking. However, we can have spaces for walk-ins like yourself - the reason our staff would have asked if you had a booking is a lot of our guests have special requests or dietary requirements which are noted whilst taking our bookings and - as procedure - are requested to ask whether a booking has been made. However, we will be addressing the levels of service which you have raised as this is not the standard we expect from our team. We have excellent review for our service and our food and I'm sorry that on this occasion you were unable to experience this.
Small and friendly bar area serving very reasonably priced drinks with comfortable, informal and friendly environment. Ten of us spent the evening here and we were impressed with the relaxed atmosphere, service and food - we ordered pizzas which were very nice. La Campana restaurant is upstairs but food is also available in the bar area and is very reasonably priced.

Howden Park Centre's café bar is the ideal spot to escape from the pressures of the day. Enjoy a great choice of hot and cold beverages, cakes and sweet treats seven days a week in a beautiful parkland setting. Delicious salads, fresh sandwiches and soup
I had the pre theatre meal on two occasions and on both occasions was dissapionted as was my husband with the quality of the cooking I had a veggie burger which was burnt and didn't taste of anything except charcoal my husband had the fish and said he thought the food would have been of good quality given the high quality of the premises any way we gave it another go but no it wasn't any better but we do love to pop in for tea and cake and to go to several shows which are always fantastic

Food was good, and the revamp is nice enough, but if you want dinner probably best ordering it about lunchtime. Theyâd also pretty much run out of everything so no eggs, no fish, no banoffe pie. I was on my third pint by the time the main course arrived. Staff are very nice though.

Total disgrace! Phoned to book a table for 18 for a family gathering with 7 children included. They were having trouble getting their heads around the numbers and I was trying to help them work out tables. Then I was told they were refusing my booking! I was told they think weâre going to come and cause trouble!! Was it my Glaswegian accent? Totally dumbfounded and disgusted at this treatment for absolutely no reason! The Manager has issues and needs to learn some lessons on customer service not to mention productivity for his takings! Beggars belief!!Many thanks for taking the time to review The Livingston Inn.Itâs a shame that you forgot to mention that you choose to insult our member of staff before we cancelled your booking!!Many people that know our business know how helpful and friendly our staff are - as you can see by many comments before and many guests that continue to return! As mentioned via email we where happy to discuss this further, one business owner to another, but again you choose to insult us!!Again many thanks for taking the time to review our business, have a lovely Easter RegardsLivingston Inn

Established in the small village of Mid Calder in 1747, this pub is one of the busiest meeting places in the area. The Black Bull Inn is at the heart of the community, and enjoys a prime location, sitting snugly in the shadow of its new town neighbour, Li
As my wife and our older daughter were off on a trip to Amsterdam to jointly celebrate their birthdays I went with my younger daugher for a meal at the Black Bull. Both my daughters are frequent diners here, particularly as they both have 'Tastecards', so I thought why not as I also have such a card although I rarely use it.My daughter had Nachos to start followed by Macaroni Cheese which I had the pate followed by the battered haddock and chips. As it is when we were seated at our table I had my back to the 'Specials' board and didn't realise that there were more dishes available than those on the printed menu. While the pate was very nice I would have much preferred the mushroom starter available that day. Anyway my haddock was lovely although the chips were nothing special. Being able to use my Tastecard meant that the meal was very reasonably priced. On the subject of using a 'Tastecard' I learned from my older daughter last week that the Black Bull is now restricting their use when accepting bookings. It would seem that they are only accepting the first two or three bookings on relevant days from people who mention having a Tastecard when booking a table. It was suggested that the Black Bull feels that it is losing money through too many people using such cards. While I can appreciate where they are coming from in this regard if this is the case then maybe they should withdraw from the scheme. Surely it is a case of all or nothing?Thank you for your review. I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with us here at The Bull and hope to see you again soon. With regards to Tastecards or any discount cards for that matter (we currently have Tastecard, Gourmet Society, Dine Card and Meerkat Meals), we took the decision based purely on the fact that the cards now as so easily available to obtain and as such are creating an unsustainable level of discount. These cards are meant to create a platform to encourage customers to try new places to eat. However, what we are experiencing is very few new customers but regular diners are now looking for discount. Rather than withdraw completely, which may still happen, we thought it would be better to limit the number of discounted tables to 3 per day through Sunday to Thursday. We carry the cost for this discount and not as some people imagine, the card issuers. As a family run pub, we are simply trying to protect our business and our employees. The current situation with a big pizza chain is perhaps a good example that even big branded restaurants using discount has not been so good for them.We have our own loyalty program called The Black Card and we are looking at ways to improve that offer into the new year after the festivities are over. As mentioned earlier, I hope to welcome you back perhaps even before then.Kind regards.

went here on tuesday evening 15/10/2019 and have to say the service was terrible.Table was booked for 8.15. Upon arrival we waited over 10 minutes for someone to tripping her.Got drinks order taken right away then waited around 30 minutes before food order was taken. To cut a long story short it took around 2 hours just to have the starter and main. I then had to ask someone for dessert menu and they never came back to take the order. Then had to ask someone else if we could order desserts. The restaurant was not busy so no excuse for poor service. Will not go back here. The food was good but a few things were cold as it had clearly been sitting for a while.even come and show us to our table and there was a gentleman in front of us who had waited longer. No Appology just what seemling like a manager with her face
