Reviews on Pub food in Jefferson City, Missouri, United States. The Missouri State Capitol dominates a bluff overlooking the Missouri River and the bronze statue atop its 238 foot-high dome is the first thing that comes into view for visitors of Jefferson City. The same bluff was one of the first sites passed by Lewis and Clark on their famous expedition, and the city is close to both the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail and KATY Trail State Park. The city is also home to the imposing Missouri State Penitentiary, the “bloodiest 47 acres in America.”

When you walk in you see all sorts of photos of sport icons and other go withs. Nothing fancy here, nice people working the bar. I did not see any food or menu only some bags of chips on the wall. Looks to be cub fan friendly and some STL Cardinal items around on walls. Good cold beer the Stag was ice cold in the can. Could be a upscale dive bar.

I took a teenage friend to Theo's for lunch. They don't serve burgers. I've never eaten at a restaurant with him where he didn't order a burger. While disappointed, he did read through the menu and selected the boneless Buffalo chicken wings. While it was an appetizer - which he didn't share - he couldn't finish them, so he asked for a to-go-box.I always order the meat ball sandwich. It also requires a to-go-box. The food is great here. However, the wrought iron furniture dragging on the tile floors means all conversation will be halted as adjoining tables are seated or depart.
Good burgers. Great wait staff. This is a good place for a nice quick lunch. Simple menu, but creative. Try the Tower fries. They are lightly breaded fries loaded with flavor. Lots of TV's to keep up with sports, plus there are two coin operated pool tables in the second seating area. They can handle large groups ... lot's of seating.

This is a Sports Bar with multiple TVs but not very noisy early evening. We had a great waitress who gave us wonderful service. The menu had many choices so it was hard to choose. Our food was served hot and very tasty,

An old internet listing notes clam chowder as a specialty, but it is outdated, as are the prices on that menu. However, Viet's has great American food, with a buffet with something for just about anybody who likes fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy and some good ol' iceberg lettuce on which to build a salad. The also have good from-the-menu grub, including the breaded tenderloin, which I got by accident although I ordered a grilled tenderloin. The one I was served was delicious. Service is good and prices reasonable. I hear you can even eat there on Thanksgiving! With reservations, of course.

Only went in to have a cold beer. Plenty of beer on tap and bottles lots of craft brews here. We looked at the food Menu with something for everyone but did not eat. Sports bar with coin hungry games to play. Not much parking other than parking meters.

Prison Brews was opened in 2007 in a part of town that once housed the state penitentiary and is now experiencing residential / commercial re-growth. This has become a popular brewery with wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, etc. It has completely embraced the
Itâs cute restaurant with a prison theme. I was super impressed with the food though. Artichoke dip, a club sandwich and green bean fries. The green beans fries were very greasy. The rest was average... not bad but nothing to write home about. I guess people love it because of the atmosphere.

Paddy Malones has a genuine Irish spirit in the heart or Jeff City. Visiting for a couple months and finally got around to stopping by. Was greeted with big smiles and Irish folk music. Guinness on tap while we waited. We were seated on the porch out back in a few minutes. We ordered the fried mushrooms, onion rings, and sweet potatoes fries as appetizers. There were 6 of us and we were so full, we never ordered dinner. The mushrooms are portabella sliced in half. Huge! Great time. Highly recommended pub scene.
