The Boot stands at the gateway to the Shotley Peninsula - ideal as a base camp for ramblers & cyclists. We're installing a massive kitchen garden, a wedding paddock, a large pub garden stretching out across the hill, a kombucha brewery, demo area, chicken
I was recommended this pub for a birthday meal with family and friends. We booked for 7pm on Thursday night, it was only for 6 people. The first time someone came to us (after requests) was 7.45pm. We then had to wait a further 45 mins for food. Not everyone got their dishes. The meals were disgusting. Fish was black, chips cold, two burgers undercooked, Beef and Ale pudding luke warm and just fatty. Items missing from certain dishes like the black pudding bom boms. I can't express my disappointed. The fastest service was to get the bill. I did ask to speak to a manager but no one was about. A young bartender said she was the supervisor. I did feel sorry for her. After a long discussion she only offered a £23.00 discount. I can't see how people give such good reviews for this place. Certainly won't be returning and passing on to family and friends not to try this place

I have fond memories of sitting outside of the Woolpack with my dad as we walked back home from town. I'd have 'a cowboy drink' and a bag of crisps, dad a pint of mild and his pipe.Fast forward about 55 years and I still had that same feeling when I went there recently with some friends.Don't expect a glitzy gastro-pub, no, The Woolpack is much better than that. It has the look and feel of a 'local', somewhere that you can go and relax, whist enjoying a drink and some lovely food.We felt welcome by the staff who were attentive, helpful and engaging. We particularly liked their respectful informality where they would spend time to have a chat and a joke, but without over-doing it. Special mention to Bessie. We each had a two course meal and everything was wonderfully well cooked, nicely presented and came in very generous portions. I won't recommend anything because everything is just so good. There was no pressure on us to leave and we spent a good 3 or more hours just chatting and relaxing. Even our dog was totally chilled until sausages appeared for her.The Woolpack is definitely on our list of the top 5 pubs local to use in east Ipswich.

Visited The Swan last night for another superb meal. I have to say the menu appears to have been through some great changes recently, which was welcomed by both myself and my partner. I would definitely recommend eating here â try the seafood and chorizo linguine!!

Large eating area on different levels. The usual pub food + some different dishes on the specials board. Very welcoming staff, tasty food and beers. Very busy for a midweek, so that must tell you how popular it is. Good food, good value.

This is a beautiful pub, offering superb food and fantastic service for a very fair price. Went at the weekend for a birthday meal and all of us were very impressed. Three courses for £25 with a lovely selection of starters. I had pakora and would have that again. We all had a roast for main, loads of veg and the beef was cooked to perfection. Desserts were delicious, with plenty of tasty options. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating to our needs, which made the visit all the more enjoyable. Cannot wait to go back! Dear Judge21uk,Thank you very much for your comments. We are very proud of our Sunday roast, using the finest local ingredients and I'm really pleased that you enjoyed it.We look forward to seeing you again soon. All the bestJemima

We were visiting the area for the day and pretty much stumbled on this amazing place. Our first impression was the outside area, particularly the beer garden, looked fantastic with perfectly manicured lawns and ample, comfortable seating. We went inside and ordered and said we would be outside. As it was such a fabulous day, the lady behind the bar asked if wanted a table which stayed in the sun for the longest and directed us to a particular table. So, onto the food. We were spoilt for choice and I ordered the Adnams beer battered fish and chips and my wife had the chicken tagliatelle. Let me say that both dishes were fantastic, very big portions and great value for money. It is just a shame that we live too far away to revisit again in the near future, but wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone.

We had a great dinner at The Greyhound. Along with the standard menu there is a wide selection of specials and the food is of excellent quality, of a good size and well priced. Lots of beers and ciders to choose from to go with the great food and the staff were excellent with us. Thereâs not much not to like and itâs definitely worth a visit if you are staying in or visiting Ipswich town centre.

Community-owned pub serving British and foreign food, specialising in gluten-free meals. Recently renovated, the free house has an extensive menu, wine and real ales with garden space, free parking and dog-friendly environment. Surrounded by beautiful Suf
We came for lunch after reading the reviews and looking at all the gluten free choices on their menu. We were not disappointed, the choice was amazing, the food was delicious and the dessert menu was completely gluten free, I was actually overwhelmed by the choice. In the end I had a chocolate fondant which was perfectly cooked and tasted divine. Whether you are a coeliac, gluten intolerant or just enjoy good food then the Brook Inn is worth a visit

Under new management and reopened as of the 7th of March 2017. We are still 100% vegetarian however if you are looking for the previous occupants they have moved to the 'Walnut tree'. We hope to see you soon!
We visited here whilst on holiday for a weekday lunch as a party predominantly made up of vegetarians, including three young children. We were quite excited about the prospect of a vegetarian pub where everyone would have a full choice of dishes. It's fair to say the pub could do with a bit of a face-lift: the décor and toilets are a bit tired. However, don't let that put you off because the food is absolutely fantastic. We ordered some starters to share and then a main course each. All the dishes were really tasty and good size portions. The favourite dish was the cottage pie, which was like a hearty warm food hug. Children are also well catered for, and there's even a little playground in the garden (though sadly we didn't discover it until we were leaving!) There only appeared to be one man doing the front of house/waiting, but he was excellent: really friendly and helpful and service was prompt considering we were a party of nine. All in all a very enjoyable experience, and if we're in the area again we will definitely return.
