A country pub with home made food and fine ales and wine family friendly and dog friendly
The good reviews on TA encouraged us to book for Sunday lunch. But, not only were we surprised by the incredibly slow service upon arrival, we were also disappointed that the prices on the Sunday menu bore little resemblance to the menu on their web page. On the website, we were told, 3 courses for Sunday lunch would cost £12.95, but upon arriving, it transpired that this was the price just for a main course!!!!! Starters were. IIRC, £5.50 on top. Having booked a table for a 1pm meal, at 1:45 I found myself going to the bar to ask if we had to come to the bar to order our food.... At this point I was told someone would come to serve us. They did, a few minutes later. But, overall, it was an incredibly poor and slow service. For a pub where the staff's uniform boasted about their expertise in ales, it was weird that when my Dad asked what was on offer he was told that the only 3 options were lager....He even double checked, before being told that these were the only options. The food, when it arrived, was way too large in portion and rather basic indeed. For example, the bacon & black pudding tower was (along with salad leaves) simply 2 rashers of bacon interspersed with 2 slices of black pudding. The attempt at gravy for the roasts probably owed far too much to Bisto or OXO rather than the homemade that the menu boasted. Added to that, how they could charge what they did for the veggie pasta felt nothing short of criminal. We concluded that the ingredients cost less than £1 a serving. We're due back in Kintbury very soon, but nothing would persuade us to return.Hi and thanks for your review .we are sorry you did not enjoy your time with us . Just to clarify we don't have a web site that page belongs to a media company who refused to take it down please check the web address. As for pricing we are not Witherspoon or McDonald's we are a small pub that does make all homemade food . Perhaps you should have complained to us and then we could have at least tried to make things a bit better for you but you did not give us that opportunity. When you return to kintbury please use the other pub and then see how much people are charged around here and you will see that I am actually very very reasonable in comparison. Again we are sorry you did not enjoy your self we do our best to give people a good experience at our pub .thanks again for the review

Iâm staying here for three nights and would highly recommend it - for service, clean and huge room and bathroom and excellent food. Also lovely ambience, recently renovated to an excellent standard with modern facilities in this 300 year old building. Always full of locals having morning or afternoon tea or a meal. Light-filled eating areas and very attentive staff. Itâs in a perfect location on the High Street and within walking distance of the railway station and the canal.

The Crown & Garter's newly refurbished restaurant is the place to enjoy good British cooking. The largest part of the refurbishment costs was the amount spent on the kitchen, so we hope that the investment will be reflected in the food that comes to your
Popped in on Friday evening to have a drink and something to eat. Surprised to see all the garden tables empty so thought we would be ok. Got our drinks and asked for menus but were told that the kitchen closed at 20.30 and it was 20.36!!Apparently they had a party of 12 booked for 20.30 but the party were running late. Not sure why they couldnât serve 2 people while they were waiting for the booked party to arrive. They do good food, when you can get it but I would recommend booking or going elsewhere.Hi, and thank you very much for the feedback, and this should not have happened, as the kitchen is opened to 9.00pm every weekday. I will be speaking to the person concerned, and if you can make yourself known to Karim or myself in the pub, we will sort out a discount for you. Please accept my full apologies for not receiving our normal high standard of service. Kind regardsApril

Beautiful setting, well maintained, friendly staff, freshly prepare food. The menu isnât big but that is a good thing as everything on it is cooked perfectly and it has great choice in the dishes they choose to put on the menu.

We are a newly refurbished Pub & Restaurant, focusing mainly on Tapas & a small plates style menu but also catering for the old pub favourites like Fish & Chips, Steaks, Great Burgers and traditional Sunday Lunches. All locally sourced where possible and
First re-visit since opening after the refurbishment......new Tapas lunch menu. Although I wasn't 'excited' by the refurb, The Plume certainly looks better and fresher than it did previously.....I don't like the 'bright yellow' painted walls though!Tried the Tapas menu with friends - some dishes were really tasty while others 'not' - guess it's a bit 'hit or miss' on choices made versus likes/dislikes.Staff are lovely - attentive and helpful without being overbearing.

A lovely free house in the heart of Hungerford, serving Hungerfords best selection of ales, ciders and proper home cooked food. Daily changing menu, constantly changing range of 6 ales and 4 ciders.
I was meeting my parents and sister here recently but arrived twenty minutes before them. I was welcomed and made to feel relaxed and didnât feel awkward on my own. The service and food were excellent and we would all recommend this pub to our friends and family.

The Tally Ho is a beautiful country pub, open every day serving freshly cooked, homemade food and locally sourced ales. There are also 3 stylish en-suite letting rooms, available 7 days a week. The Tally Ho provides a warm welcome all year round, and is i
We called the pub on the off chance of a table being available, to be informed we would be accommodated. On arrival the car park and restaurant were very busy, which is always a good sign. The welcome from the lady at the bar was very warming, whilst telling us we could have the next available table. We did have to wait half an hour or so, but the short wait would be worth it. Having witnessed the offerings arriving from the kitchen, we both plumped for traditional roasts, the beef and the pork. And wow, what a fantastic meal. Generous meat portions, beautiful vegetables and delightfully tasty gravy. It was delicious, a-maz-zing. Thank you very much to all the staff for our wonderful experience, credit well deserved.
