Here at The Orchard we serve homemade food, using fresh, local produce. When possible we supply our own vegetable produce grown on our allotments and provide home reared award winning lamb and beef from our family farm. We cater well for meat and fish lov
ceased to be amazed by the versatility of the kitchen staff, no matter what combination of ingredients I suggest, they come up trumps, brilliant.

English Country Inn with Dining
Went there twice over the last week, once for a Sunday lunch and once for a "normal" one.On both occasions the food was excellent, beautiful bit of roast beef on the Sunday and a very convincing pie during the week.Limited menu on the Sunday (roast or stay at home) and a considerably greater range on the other days with 3 or 4 pies, several fish options and all very good.Interestingly the sunday lunch comes with the meat and yorkshire on the plate and the potatoes and vegetables (peas, carrots and red cabbage) as well as a cauliflower cheese side all come as shared dishes on the table with a healthy sized ration of each.Staff excellent, friendly and responsive.Note that the Sunday lunch is very busy so you would do well to reserveMy only complaint would be one for all the pubs in the area that they don't serve IPA.Hi, Thanks for your great reviews of our lunchtime food and glad you enjoyed your time with us on both occasions. As you say, Sundays is basically Sunday Lunch or no lunch. We have a small kitchen and prefer to do the things we do right rather than try to do everything and allow the quality to suffer and we are usually full to capacity before we open the doors so there is generally no capacity for walk-ins I'm afraid. Midweek lunches have more choices and are certainly a little less frenetic but bookings are still always a safer bet. We do try to offer a full range of drinks but on the real ales we again try to keep what we have in perfect nick by getting the right turnover which limits us to 2 real ales at any one time and our Timothy Taylor's Landlord (Champion's Club Member) and Fuller's London Pride (Cask Marque approved) are too popular with the locals to add something different at the moment so apologies for that. Hope to see you again soon

Lovely lunch at the packhorse, I had the Cajun chicken which was wonderfully cooked, not too spicy but just right. My husband enjoyed the lasagne, we shared a starter and desert which was no problem to order as the proprietors are so accommodating, all in all a lovely lunch, superbly cooked and served by friendly and helpful people. The chef is obviously experienced and very capable, the staff are courteous and considerate, would recommend.

17th Century Village Coaching Inn
Visited on a Saturday with an overnight stay in the b&b. The room had everything you could need. Tea & coffee, hair dryer, large bathroom, etc. The room was spotless and quiet. We ate in the evening and the meal was excellent. Staff attentive and very knowledgable. The breakfast on the Sunday morning was also fantastic. Cannot thing of anything negative to say. Thanks for a brilliant overnight stay.
