A traditional English pub within a stones throw of the Grand Union Canal and a gentle stroll from the Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon canal Kingswood Junction. The ancient pub is nestled in the center of the tranquil village of Rowington, in the heart
Really disappointed, my farther booked a table a week prior to our booking, for my birthday meal, he confirmed on the phone the amount of people eating and the member of staff went as far to confirm they had a large booking in the restaurant but would give us a lovely round table in the conservatory, which we agreed to. On arriving at the pub we were told âWEâ had not booked it correctly, on trying to see if they could accommodate us as intended, as the conservatory was empty of diners at this point we were told we could not pull extra chairs to the table, all the manager wanted to say was whilst banging a menu against her hand was that her staff were correct not us. We have been regulars and recommended this pub on numerous occasions, sadly we will not be back, we went off to another very popular place locally who could not be more accommodating. Sad really. Iâm sorry you feel this is what happened, however I would like to clarify that I was in fact there when my supervisor of 2 years took the booking with your dad, she confirmed we had a table of 4 in the conservatory which is a nice round table, in fact the only round table in there which has always been a table of 4. I also prompted her to make sure you were aware of the larger booking around the same time to ensure you were aware of possible delays due to our food being cooked fresh to order. My supervisor as all my team are expected to do so, read the booking details back, confirming time, numbers and date. I personally heard all of this, hence why I confirmed with you on the day the day that I can vouch it was most definitely booked for 4 people. If we could of accommodated you we most certainly would, Iâm sure youâd agree no business owner would willingly turn away potential takings. But those âfree tablesâ you mentioned, were all booked for the guests due to arrive within the next 45 minutes for that sitting as we had just finished our first sitting and were in the process of receiving our next guests. We even had a waiting list of people in the bar in case tables became available, therefore I would not of been able to take chairs from them when they had booked also? Iâm sorry you feel this wasnât handled well, however whoever we first spoke to was quite rude with us, and despite not being the person who had originally made the booking was not prepared to listen to us and expected us to take other guests chairs which I obviously was not prepared to do, I was not even given the chance to suggest our nice outside tables which we would of as a one off, given full table service to, as she stormed out! (We do not usually offer table service to tables outside) I do however hope you enjoyed your meal elsewhere but afraid there wasnât much else we could do due to the popularity of our weekends and we had reserved a table for the numbers originally requested. Kind RegardsCharlie

Visited this pub for food and drinks and was very impressed with the setting, feel and all round warmth this place affords you when relaxing here. I was not disappointed!!! The food was magnificent, I can be fussy when it comes to dinning out, and the chef accommodated my requests without any hesitation. The service was second to none and the atmosphere as good as I experienced in a long time. Five stars for a five star venue. Will be returning soon without a doubt

This was a lovely lunchtime treat! We had the king prawn penne with a tomato and tarragon sauce and the burger with bacon and fries. Both were delicious.. We have eaten sandwiches here quite a few times ( particularly love the crayfish one) and it was nice to see that their meals are just as good. The restaurant has a great relaxed atmosphere and is attractive, bright and airy with friendly staff â we will be back!

Another excellent meal at this Warwickshire pub/restaurant. Dinner is more towards the fine-dining end than pub food and this is reflected in the prices. The starter of seared lambs liver in a creamy mushroom and Dijon mustard sauce was excellent. This was followed by a delicious portion of baked hake on crushed potatoes and accompanied by a tomato and olive sauce. House wines weren't bad either. Lovely surroundings and the staff as ever were friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back in the near future.

Not as near the Wooton Wawen visitor moorings as it looks on the map, but well worth finding your way to get there. Very busy early evening with just one person staffing the bar, taking orders, delivering meals and clearing tables; but still proving service with a smile! "Deserves a medal".We were there with our grandchildren and all of us were pleased with our meals - I enjoyed a nice medium rare fillet steak (at what seemed a real bargain price) and the grilled salmon and children's meals were also well received. As a result we really struggled with the puddings! The prices are very modest and overall this Navigation Inn represents great value for money.Make a rservation if you want a table early evening.

About 2 years ago we went to the Black Swan for a carvery. The place was packed & the food & service was excellent. Therefore, when my partner recently decided to celebrate her birthday with 10 of her friends this seemed the ideal place to go. Well, I am not really sure was has happened in-between then and now but I am guessing the pub may have suffered the bubonic plague as when we arrived at Midday on a Sunday the place was deserted except for one barmaid. After almost an hour of waiting & with no sign of a menu or food orders being taken we went to the bar to order the food ourselves only to discover they no longer did a carvery but instead we had the option of a turkey, pork or gammon roast. It would have been advantageous to have known this before we made the reservation! After almost another hour the food eventually arrived in sporadic stages, first the gammon (and this arrived BEFORE the cutlery! â we had to get some of this ourselves), then about 20 minutes later the turkey, then about another 20 minutes later the vegetarian dishes which consisted of a jacket potato with salad or vegetarian sausages with mash and peas. The turkey roast I had was not great but sufficient, the turkey was quite thick and tough and the vegetables undercooked. The mash was buttery and the general consensus was that it was from out of a packet. The final dish, Lasagne, arrived just has most of the rest of us had finished our meals! I have nothing against the barmaid who was very friendly and did the best she could but it was abundantly clear they cannot cope at present with meals for large parties and they shouldnât accept bookings until they can. I dread to think how they would have coped if the place had been even half full! The staff appeared to consist of one barmaid and one chef! It would be a great shame if this place closed, it is such a lovey old traditional English pub that has been in Henley High Street for many many years but if the service does not radically improve I would say it was only a matter of time before it did.

Good food cooked properly, in an environment where you feel comfortable
Nothing not to love about this restaurant or itâs menu. Had the Chicken wings (honeycomb, salted caramel and bacon!) Seriously brilliant flavours. Pork with black pudding ravioli, autumn mushrooms, jus and spinach.. Do not miss this restaurant. Great service, great ambience and food presentation like a Master Ched class. Highly recommend.
