Traditional English Pub by the canal with lots of walks nearby. Sunday Roasts, Quiz nights, 4 real ales, premium lagers and spirits and fine wines.
Group of us went in for a meal. It is advised to book. Sat inside. Reasonable wait for food. Quaint decor and cosy eating area. Didnt sit outside but I'm sure itd be nice on a sunny day. Food was satisfactory. Can only comment on my own meal, which was a poor excuse of a veggie burger. It seems they've found the cheapest option and thought that will do. Wouldn't eat here again myself, but that's just personal preference. Would go for a drink after a walk. Sorry for the delay in responding, but have had no access to the account. You were offered a choice of veggie burgers and a vegetable lasagne, but you requested a plain burger and that is what you got.

We have a traditional bar area with a good selection of draft and bottled lagers, beers and real ales, a selection of wines and spirits. Our cosy snug area is for anyone wishing to relax and unwind on our comfortable Chesterfield sofas, with a log fire pr
We regularly visit here as a family for food as it is well priced, reliably tasty and the portions satisfy my husband's larger appetite. The service is always friendly and the surroundings are nice with beautiful views from the terrace. My only suggestion - make good use of some of that fantastic land behind the car park with some good quality children's play equipment and make yourself a family destination! Its so lovely when someone who visits regularly takes the time to write a review, thank you we really appreciate it. We would love to put a play park in the grounds and have looked into it with a few options but with health and safety and insurance costs its really is not viable.

Order pie and it could have been stood under a heater for hours if not days. That's the conclusion from a recent visit as a returned meal was substituted by the same dried out pie, obviously cut a larger pie as it was dried on both sides. Add to that an obvious lack of staff training for the youngsters being used as waiting staff and the visit did not thrill or encourage a return. Many thanks for your review. This is the first complaint we have had about the Pie we normally get praise rather then complaints. But I am of course happy to accept the complaint. We do have quite a few young staff but i feel personally they have been well trained. Whether they are implementing the training is obviously something we need to address. Many ThanksThe Red Lion Team

Fantastic community pub serving good value, fresh and tasty food and excellent beers. We have a good selection of wines and spirits. The pub is dog friendly and is a great stop off for walkers and visitors to the area
Yet again another pub which didnât deliver on its appearance, or menu.Took over 45 minutes on a reasonably quiet Saturday for two cold sandwiches, which were average at best, and a portion of fries, which werenât cooked properly.Friendly reception though, and the beer was nice...Dear RichardPlease accept my sincere apologies you were not entirely happy with your visit. I find it incredibly hard to believe it took 45 minutes for 2 sandwiches to arrive and if this is the case I am very sorry. If there are any ways I could make my cold sandwiches less average I would be happy to listen and learn. Please feel free to contact me at the pub directly on 01663 765563 to discuss further if needed. If your dis satisfaction was mentioned whilst you were here I would have been more than happy to rectify with a good will gesture at the time rather than resorting to trip advisor. Customer service is the most important aspect to myself and my whole team and I again offer my sincere apologies your visit was anything less than 5 starsKindest RegardsChris

This is a nice pub with a good restaurant. As well as some light lunch time snacks the restaurant provides good quality food with fish being predominant. Many of the fish dishes are unusual but those we sampled on our visit as a group of four were all very tasty. This is a premium restaurant and the price of dishes reflect this. Expect to pay £35+ per person for two courses including a drink and tip.

My fiancé and I decided last minute to visit the Crown for a meal on Sunday. It is almost thirty years since I have been to the crown and obviously there have been changes! We were attracted by the fact that it is very dog friendly. Our meal and the service with it were outstanding!!!!!I had the Barnsley chop which was cooked to perfection served with root vegetables and hassleback potatoâs and a mini pot of minted gravy! My mouth is watering just thinking of it!My fiancé had the fish pie which was equally delicious. The service was faultless and the place has a homely atmosphere and the locals were very friendly. We would not hesitate to return!Cheryl

Traditional British pub serving homemade quality food and drinks. Robinsonâs ale and a large gin selection available. Dog, child, and rambler friendly.
We had a warm welcome at the White Horse. Friendly staf and clients. A typical pub menu with home cooked food. I had the steak and ale pie, really good for a winters day. You could tell it was home made with plenty of filling.
