Authentic Indian Street Food Thali brought to you by The Yorkshire Indian. Now serving Street Food Indian Tapas.
Went to the red lion last night. Chosen because of the good reviews. Almost left as soon as we saw the dining area, it's dismal and dirty looking, but because of the reviews we stayed. The Thalia is not that big, big enough for me but I think a man would want more food, saying that it was delicious!! I told the chef so when leaving, but also mentioned the decor, he tells me it's due for a refurb at the end of July, so shall wait and see, shame if it's not as it could be lovely. I have only rated it with one star because of the state of the place, not because of the food! Cleaned and repainted and I would give it all 5 stars. Thanks for choosing us to try our wonderful Authentic Indian Cuisine. We really appreciate that you took your own time to choose us over anywhere you wanted to or could have visited. We are glad that you thoroughly enjoyed the food, as have many of our diners.Yes, you did mention to the Chef that your friend was upset about the decor. The Yorkshire Indian started as a kitchen takeover at The Red Lion and would never cook food or serve food in any dirty surroundings so we think it is unfair that you use the word. There is a plan for the pub to decorated the previously 'un-used' extension, but other than a spruce up, we have never had such an unfair appraisal by anyone. We believe your 1 star to unfair seeing as you did share that you came for the food and that you thoroughly enjoyed.I hope you give us another try and by then we will have painted the ceiling for you as thanks what you stated that your friend had an issue with. Many thanks. The Yorkshire Indian @ The Red Lion.

We are a Samuel Smiths run pub serving great beer at great prices and a home cooked Sunday roast 12pm to 4pm. We have a zero swearing policy creating a comfortable atmosphere. Child friendly and Dog friendly pub. SOON TO BE SERVING FOOD THROUGH OUT THE WE
So a great pub. Pleasant, nice furnishings, great beers. But on a Friday afternoon, when it's advertised as open...... It's shut. So no nice beers for me. Not a great start. So off to the West. The pub is currently waiting for new managers due to the guy managing it with me ran off with some of the money. With me been 5 months pregnant im unable to continue on my own so the brewery shut the pub on Monday 1st April.

We are a small, family run independent pub restaurant. We pride ourselves on serving the highest quality homemade food with great service. Families are welcome at all times and we have a separate children's menu and family dining area.
Called in yesterday for a Sunday lunch. Me and the Mrs had in mind a proper roast/veg dinner and had heard good things about the Royal Oak. Having read some of the previous reviews itâs clear drinks options can be troublesome and they had no coke or diet coke which surprised us greatly. However, the food I have to say was very good. Option of a 3 course Sunday Lunch at £9.95 is great value and we both had different starters (pate for her / york puds for him), different mains (pie for her / roast beef for him) and different puds (choc fudge cake for her and apple pie for him). All 6 options served were timely, hot and very tasty with really good sized portions. The service was good with pleasant staff in bar and food area. I have to say very tasty and excellent value for money. Will definitely consider a return visit.

What a loveley pub. Easily missed so recommend you check it out. Great character and obvious history in the fabric of the building. Nice cosy welcoming feel inside. Must be absolutely great on a warm sunny day as excellent outdoor seating with views of the canal basin.Beware though there are quite a few steps up to the bar area inside.

We visited here one Friday evening last month. We turned up hungry without a reservation but they fitted us in, despite being very busy, by opening up another part of the restaurant. They really went out of their way to be accommodating and were very friendly. Once seated the food was .... delicious! Traditional English and one of those menus where everything is suddenly your favourite making it very hard to choose. Also i tried some of the local ale my husband ordered and even I (a wine drinker) thought it was wonderful.I would recommend this pub and would definitely return when next in the area.HiThank you for taking the time to leave a lovely review! We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed both our wonderful food and real ale. See you again soon!

Home made bread and home made desserts coupled with excellent service what more can you want! I took my elderly mum for lunch this week. We both chose 2 of the specials on the board. Roast lamb and Yorkshire Pudding for myself and Chili Con Carne with rice for my Mum. Washed down with a glass of Pinot what a perfect day...
