I had a good feeling about this venue from my telephone booking.4 of us got a friendly welcome and were seated at a nicely laid out table. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The choice on the menu was interesting and mouth watering. We all cleared our plates despite the portions being more than ample.I think because the plates were nicely warmed the food stayed hot.The desserts were gorgeous, a nice changes from the usual. All together we spent a really enjoyable evening with excellent service, food and reasonably priced drinks. If I had one complaint it would be the rather musty smell In the entrance hall due, probably, to the flooding the hotel suffured about two years ago..

Stayed at the Manor for one night before our Coast to Coast trip. Very friendly staff but rooms are tired and need an upgrade. Would probably try somewhere else if we went to St Bees again.Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were not pleased with the standard of the room your were allocated. We do have four rooms that require the bathrooms to be updated which we hope to carry out during the winter months. I hope you are enjoying the Coast to Coast walk.

Just off the harbour Near Duncan Square
Every dish we ate was excellent. Menu is far more than typical pub food. A bouillabaisse that could grace a high-end restaurant, at a price that suggests the ingredients came ashore on the boats you can see through the window. Fine selection of craft beers. Hope the owners donât read this but their prices donât begin to reflect the quality of the cuisine. Worth coming to Whitehaven just for this.

Seventeen walkers visited here on a Saturday afternoon after a mornings walk. The food was just about ok. I had fish and chips which was poor and all who had said it was not very good, not good value at £12.75. Bone hard chips that we assume had been warmed up, the fish batter was like cast iron. However the ploughmanâs was very good. The two ales were average at best, one had no condition. Over all, would I visit again.....no.....advertised in the Camra Good Beer Guide as having 6 ales on....no it has 4....

Went for dinner this evening, I would advise that you make sure you've a big appetite bordering on starving, the food is excellent and the servings enormous. I would also advise booking as understandably it gets very busy, the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is great.

Nipped in to The Brook on a whim and was definitely not disappointed. Although it's only small, it adds to the friendly, cosy atmosphere. Every single member of staff we interacted with made us feel very welcome and we enjoyed two amazing meals.I had the charred red pepper and garlic chicken tagliatelle and its was honestly the best pasta dish I have had for a while. The flavours were amazing and I only wish I had room to finish it! My partner had the steak pie with roasted veg and chips and it was nice to see a proper pie for once! Properly made!If you are in the area, the Brook is definitely worth a look and you won't be disappointed with the quality of the food!
