My wife and I ate here last Tuesday my wife had scampi which was ok and I had gammon, which was the toughest driest gammon I have ever had. Kate about 60% of it but didn't enjoy it at all I complained to the bar manager who offered us a 20% discount on the cost of our meal, which we accepted. The discount amounted to approx £4, which isn't a lot really against the cost of a poor meal....however when the bill arrived we we overcharged by £3.40 for a pint of beer we never had. They removed that from the bill and gave us a new accurate bill. Not a happy experience at all. This is the third time this year we have eaten here, and previous meals were good and I gave good reviews.. The staff are friendly and welcoming and I like the pub. But We had a bitter experience this timeHi John,My sincere apologies your visit with us wasn't up to our usual standard, we had a rather oddly busy day for a Tuesday but it shouldn't have impacted on your evening. We hope you will give us the opportunity to show this as a one off and return with us again in the future. If you would like to discuss anything further with me however please do not hesitate to contact meMany thanksJen

We attended Llangeinor Arms for a family Sunday lunch and we were not disappointed. The roast beef we had was cooked to perfection and melted in the mouth. All the food was piping hot to the table and both meat and vegetables were plentiful, in fact more than we could all eat. Delicious!Would we go again?? Can wait!

My wife and I visited this restaurant along with 23 others for an evening get together. The meal, for a Christmas celebration was very very good. I had whitebait starter followed by a beef dinner then chocolate brownie with white chocolate ice cream. My wife started with pate then a turkey dinner finishing with Christmas pudding with custard. All the food we had without exception was great but for me the star was the beef which just melted in the mouth. This is definitely somewhere we will visit again.

We took our son here for his 30th birthday. What a total let down. Myself and my daughter ordered the taveners chicken with BBQ sauce, on receiving our meal there was a very small chicken breast with a small piece of bacon on top with a very small smiging of cheese and a even smaller portion of BBQ sauce then there were the smaller portion of chips 12 on my plate and a very small pinch of lettuce leaves to complete the meal!!!!! You pay £8.99 for this meal????? We had to ask for extra BBQ sauce so they then brought out a very small pot of cold BBQ sauce???? Why would we ask for more BBQ sauce cold when the one on our plate was warm?? That is defecting the object. Why put a cold sauce with a warm one? Once we ate our meal which wasn't long as there was not a lot to eat on the plate they came and took the empty plates away which is unusual for me as I can never finish a meal but on this occasion I did finish the meal as there was not enough . We waited 20 minutes before we called a member of staff to see where our sons and daughters dessert was, with that we were told there was a mix up with the order yet the place was so busy they only had another 3 tables there????? No wonder the place was empty with food and service like this!!!! Going back a few years ago the Tyrisha was a fantastic place to go and you would expect to wait at least a hour just to get a table!!!!!! Would we go back again????? Definitely notThank you for leaving us a review and we are sorry that your food and service were not up to our usual high standard. I will feed back your comments to my team and should you wish to discuss this further then please do not hesitate to get in touch [email protected] Manager

At the Haywain, Bridgend we serve a wide selection of homecooked pub food. There are plenty of choices available to suit everyones tastes, from a lighter bites section, homemade pizzas, traditional pub favourites and a steak and grill section.
Went for Sunday lunch and even though we had booked a table near the ladies toilets as my mother has problems walking, when we got there the waitress said our table was the opposite end of the pub. She then said there was a table near the ladies which was much better for us. They took our drinks order and we waited ages for them to arrive, in fact I went to the bar to ask where they were then I saw the waitress carrying them. Food arrived and 3 of us had beef and 1 chicken, plenty of meat but the yorkshire pud was hard and hollow, roast potatoes not crispy, veg (cauli, carrots, broccoli, cabbage) totally tasteless and tasted as if it had all been cooked without salted water, gravy was thin and tasted like Bisto and none of the meals were hot, they weren't cold by any means but they could of been hotter. And at £10.95 for just the main course, not good value at all. In fact on their website the price for chicken, pork and beef is £9.95 and £10.95 for lamb but when you are there the price for chicken, pork and beef is £10.95 and lamb £12.95 - so rather misleading!Desserts were £4.95 and 2 of my party had one, could be served with cream, ice cream or custard, they opted for the cream which was the yucky squirty one.The waitresses were friendly but the food was a big disappoitment and we would not go back again.

Went there unannounced as a party of 22 and found enough space. Managed a scramble a few chairs and tables together. Was warned before we ordered that food would be 40 minutes. Ok with that as just wanted a drink to begin with and watch a bit of footie. The manager also put together a few tables so our party could sit together. Food was really nice and the booze cheap. Compared to Buckinghamshire anyway. The manager came over at 9pm to warn us u18s werenât allowed after 9.30pm. I was fine with that. I donât want kids running around if Iâm on a night out. A singer came on at about 9.30ish and was pretty good. Bit loud but then Iâm getting on. They let u18 have a beer as long as they are with an adult and eating. Well they did on this occasion unlike the Harvester in Sarn up the road. That was the reason we didnât eat there. But thatâs a different story. Overall if youâre after good food, atmosphere and cheap beer youâll be alright here. Seems to have a lot of locals too. They even likevthe English. hi Thank you for kind review and as a rule we don't allow under 18s alcohol at all not even with meals. You must have slip threw our net this time. We are very happy you enjoyed your evening tho and will relay this back to out team. See you in the near future.

We have been to the Star Inn on many occasions and have never been disappointed. We were here on Saturday evening at 6pm to celebrate my birthday. The car park is small and tend to be busy so we decided to eat earlier. We had the fisherman's net to start (highly recommend!), and for mains we had the beef burger, chicken ballotine and fish and chips. The chips were very well cooked, so were all the main courses. Chicken was well-seasoned and moist (not over-cooked), beef burger was again moist and juicy and fish was delicious. The seasonal veg was also well-prepared and cooked (still al dente and not lifeless/soggy like how many other places serve them). Portion sizes were generous. Food was good value and unpretentious. Service was fast and attentive. This shows this is a place with a good team in place. The chefs clearly take pride in what they make, care about their food and place importance on attention to detail. The waiting staff were confident, friendly and efficient. If I were to suggest any improvements, I would say write down the specials on a few small blackboards to pass around instead of reading out to customers. Some of us are more visual!

Visited here for lunch today, after reading the many excellent reviews. The food was really, really good, amazingly tasty risotto, great selection of tapas on the menu which we will be returning to try. Really liked the layout and decoration of the bar and restaurant, a lot of thought has gone into creating a welcoming atmosphere, very friendly and relaxed. We chose to eat in the bar/ lounge area which had a variety of seating options, allowing us to relax on a chesterfield couch for drinks and eat at a table. We were provided with service to the table for food and drinks, and given a full explanation of the menu. There is weekly live entertainment on Saturdays and Sundays which sounds good.
