It must be 40 years since we last visited the Prince of Wales, when my cousin lived a few doors away. Very little has changed (which is good), apart from the brewery from Ridley's to Greene King. There's a sensible menu for a pub restaurant and we chose the plaice goujons, served with chips and peas, with a side salad. It arrived hot and in good portions. Service was friendly and we'd be happy to call there again.

Established in 1679 as a coaching inn, The King's Head in Chipping Ongar is the oldest brick-fronted building on Chipping Ongar High Street. Named after King James II, who is believed to have stayed here during his reign, this Grade II listed building is
The venue itself is a pleasant local pub resataurant however I did find it falling below standards which is dissapointing. When serving you at the bar it would be nice if they were listening to you and not having a conversation elsewhere. Having to repeat your order several time and then NOT get your drinks order correct is a prime example. I also ordered two pizzas of which one was very burn't on the bottom and the other one had plastic in the food. This I got a refund for. A 16th Century pub with great gardens and open fires in the heart of Herongate village, on the outskirts of Brentwood. Food is served from 12-9pm every day apart from Sunday until 6pm and Monday until 7pm. We're well known for our Sunday roasts, friendly
The starters and main food was really good.I had pie and others had salmon and hunters chicken all which were great portion size and cooked beautifully. The only thing that let them down was the specials bounty cheesecake which was literally plain cheesecake with a bit of bounty on it..Also sadly there was a gentleman who was extremely drunk and spoiled our evening a bit but a lovely lady ,who I would say was the manager, dealt with the issue quickly and efficiently.

Just three miles south of bustling Brentwood, yet surrounded by woodlands and fields in the unspoilt village of Herongate, The Boar's Head is a Grade II listed country pub overlooking the village pond close to Button Common. It started life as three Tudor
Just had early evening meal with family and the food and service were fantastic. Recommend the 28 day aged sirloin - super tasty and beautifully cooked. This is a much improved pub; fashionably redecorated, with great food and regular DJ's or bands. The only downer is getting served; there simply aren't enough staff and given many are making cocktails and regulars take up space sitting at the bar, this means you can wait 15+mins to get served when it is busy. We've given up on numerous occassions and gone to other pubs. The young staff are verging on rude and moody and the owners ought to mystery-shop them just to see how bad they can be towards the people who pay their wages. Put more staff ie some experienced adults behind the bar with a bit of customer rapport and this place would be worthy of 5 stars and customers wouldn't walk out all the time.

Staff are welcoming polite and the services provided was impressive as they were extremely attentive and to our furry friends! Food was served within 15 minutes and was very hot. Dog friendly and very cozy and clean atmosphere. The menus is excellent value for money and extremely tasty for pub food. Food was presented very nice with extra little touches and quality was great. With filling lunches from 7.40 upwards you leave feeling very content and satisfied. Would definitely recommend and will be going on a weekly occurrence.
