I've always liked this pub. A former gin palace in an historic building, it's had quite a history. These days it serves 10 different real ales on draught alongside gins, lagers and wines. The service is prompt and friendly and it's a good place to take a family early on. The other thing about this pub is the food - they specialise in hotdogs, and they are awesome. Proper sausages, several different types (the bacon and blue cheese topped dog is superb) and you can choose from normal fries, spicy or garlic and herb.On a warm day it's nice to sit outside and take in the views of Stockport marketplace, and there's a number of other venues within 30 seconds' walk, from craft beer bars to traditional pubs. And if that isn't enough, you can also get Titanic Plum Porter on draught!

I walked into this restaurant (whilst staying at the Premier Inn which is attached) not expecting much, however was surprised. I liked the layout of the restaurant (upstairs) and although it had a pub like feel, the food tasted better. I ordered the lasagne and although I was expecting the portion to be slightly bigger, it tasted really nice. The service was good, my only gripe (and its a small one) was that an older lady said she'd get the bill for us and it never came. The restaurant was quiet and she proceeded to set tables up beside us. It baffled me how passing us didn't remind her that she hadn't done what she had set out to do. I then asked for the bill again and she said she'll go and get it like it was the first time she had been asked. So all in all it took us about 20 minutes just to pay. Apart from this small gripe, it was a nice visit.

Had an acceptable meal as usual, but missed the bubbly personality and friendliness of Dawn. Still all good things can come to an end. Where is she working now- another food establishment I hope. Somebody please let us know.

My wife, daughter and 8 year grandson just went on spur of the moment. They had the carvery, myself being a veggie the Veggie Risotto followed by afters. Not booked but only had to wait 15 mins, not bad at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. The food was delicious and polished off by all the adults - my grandson is a fussy sod. Lol. Our waiter Josh was outstanding, making out he was useless and may drop things. He didn't, delight to be served by him and showed a good SOH. Great setting, couldn't fault the place. Hi Nigel, Thank you for taking the time to review us and for your lovely comments. I'm really pleased you and your family enjoyed your meal with us. We'll look forward to welcoming you all back soon. We regularly go out as a family for a meal. Our normal place closed down. We are looking for a regular replacement. This won't be it. The children's menu is for some unfathomable reason only under 9s only. We were questioned about the ages of our children and were not allowed to order from the very limited children's menu. Our very small 13 year old swapped with her younger brother and didn't even finish the meal. The food was below average. The children's meal of chicken nuggets and chips was not finished as it was too rubbery. The steak pie I had was ok- a bit below average- very little steak and heavy on the puff pastry. My wife had the Cod and chips. One end of the fish was good. The other end was somehow chewy and thin and mostly just batter and burnt underneath. My older son had the half chicken as he wasn't allowed to order from the kid's menu! He didn't like it and left most if it. I tasted it and it was ok, about average. It was just a shame to have to order such a large meal.for a 12 year old. Another strange rule is that it is not allowed to book for fewer than 6 people. So a family of 2 and three children can't book a table. The table service was friendly and efficient. The establishment itself was just too regimented and inflexible for families.Hello, Thank you for taking the time to review us, although I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with your visit. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss this further with you if you're able to give me a call on the details below?Kind regardsKate 0161 485 [email protected]

My wife and I took my mum who is 80 and struggles to walk, I know that this place is mainly on the flat which is one of the reasons for this Pub for Sunday Lunch . I booked on line the day before and asked for a table in the conservatory. The web site said that I would recieve confirmation, if not give them a call. No confirmation was recieved, so I rang and the young chap who answered eventually confirmed I had the table. When we arrived we asked for our table and were informed that the table allocated was up a few stairs- not great, but we managed slowly with the old girl! The food was plentiful, if a little predictable, 2 Sunday Lunches, one steak a couple of starters, one sweet and 3 coffees. With 2 glasses of wine and a beer. The bill was £75, I would say that's good value.OK, the service was slow, which is understandable when the place was full. The staff were attentive and were very busy- in my opinion more were needed. The big question is will we return?- the answer is YES, the old girl enjoyed herself and thats what matters. Hopefully this honest review will help others decide!

We visited The Foresters on a Saturday lunchtime, and chose it because it was equidistant between three couples who meet occasionally for a catch-up; also because of the good reviews on TA. We were immediately made to feel right at home and the service throughout our stay was excellent. We all had a main course and a pudding; main meals were tasty and portions big enough to make you wonder if dessert was such a good idea, although we were served two portions of pie with chips, and thinking that it came with mash (actually thereâs a choice but we werenât asked) weâd ordered extra fat chips (which were good, but not so good that I didnât want the mash I was expecting!) Puddings were good old school classics - sticky toffee pudding, crumble, lemon sponge - and none of them were disappointing. I have a feeling weâll be meeting up there again.

We used the 20% discount voucher and enjoyed a lovely dinner with a super desert. The staff were very attentive and the food was very good . Prices are very reasonable. The restaurant is nicely decorated and parking was adequate. We've been here a few times over recent years and have never been disappointed
