The monastery was open but not the churches due to covid. We were allowed to enter to see the biblical burning bush. The well were moses met his wife. It was such a beautiful spot. The hike up the mountain took 2 hours. It is not an easy hike and luckily there were a few Bedouin huts open for snacks and drink. The hike is tough as you get close to the top. It is well worth the trip

We booked this trip with the Egypt Tours company and it turns out we paid too much since St. Catherine monastery is closed because of the COVID virus, but we still paid for it. I would suggest going with other companies that only climb up Mt. Sinai and save money. There were 5 different vans from different tour companies going from Sharm El Sheikh to St. Catherine at the same time our van was and we encountered these vans at the St. Catherine gift shop before beginning the climb up Mt. Sinai. The tour company gave every a small flashlight so we can see the path in the dark, and they turned us over to a guide who brought the group up the mountain path. There are frequent stops along the way, but our guide liked to drink coffee at every stop so we ended up waiting for him to finish coffee at every stop. At the top of the stair section, there are several coffee stands and you can also buy souvenirs. If you feel cold, you can also rent a big blanket for $3 USD, but I didn't need it because I went in May and it was not too cold. I also brought sweat pants and jacket, so I was not too cold at the top. After you reach the last coffee shops, you are on your own and the guide is not involved, so you can go to the mosque at the top to see the sunrise when you want. I think it's best to wait for first light, before sunrise to go to the very top, not when it is still too dark to see the stairs. I and several other people found a spot on a rock to see the sunrise and it was just like in a movie. Very special experience at a very important places in biblical history. After the sun became too bright to view and began to feel hot, we all walked down the trail on our own to St. Catherine, but this turned out to be the hazardous part of the trip. One of the women in our group slipped and hurt her ankle while going down the stair part of the trail and limped the rest of the way down. We waited for the tour operator to show up at St. Catherine, since it doesn't open early, and the only thing available was the gift shop. The church was closed because of COVID, so we returned to Sharm El Sheikh with only half of the trip done.

Canyons are great, the rest of the tour was extremely poor. First of all, never book tours with Dahab Safari Day Tours: - given phone rarely answered, I had to call twice (without success) a day before the tour to get confirmation and details of the tour (like pick time etc) - promised guide language was not provided, basically there was no a guide in this tour who could explain something; - in a jeep there were 9+1(kid) people instead of 8 - due to accumulated delays, the jeep was driven with very high speed (100+km/h), compromising security of passengers (there were no security belts of course) - we came back to the hotel more than 1 hour later, although it has been promised to be in time. Partially it's due to delays during canyon tour that was not properly managed by a company, partially due to not transferring us to our hotel first (as it was promised), but the last. Due to the lack of time there was no Dahab visit. The blue hole that was a part of the tour is not worth to visit: dirty place and very bad restaurant.

Sharm Club organized a full day tour in Luxor with Egyptologist guide Ashraf, who was excellent. He was waiting for me at the Luxor airport, and we were off. I had a great experience and he was such a trooper. Despite going the whole day without even a sip of water (I was there during ramadan), he never slowed down or lost enthusiasm. What a champ! Would recommend his services without hesitation.

St. Catherine city has a high spiritual significance as a result of its location near Moses Mountain. Enjoy the Beautiful landscape all the way from Sharm El Sheikh and visit the oldest monastery in the world! St. Catherine's Monastery lies on the Sinai Peninsula, at the mouth of a gorge at the foot of Mount Sinai in St. Catherine's City. The monastery is Orthodox and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This monastery is one of the oldest working Christian monasteries in the world. The monastery was built by order of Emperor Justinian I, enclosing the Chapel of the Burning Bush ordered to be built by St. Helen, the mother of Constantine I, at the site where Moses is supposed to have seen the burning bush; the living bush on the grounds is purportedly the original. It is also referred to as "St. Helen's Chapel". The site is sacred to Judaism, Christianity and Islam.

At the end of April we were on holiday in Sharm el Sheikh. Our group wanted to visit the city and, by luck, we booked a city tour with the Sharm Smile Tour. We liked it very much. We were all delighted with this experience. There were wonderful few hours, which passed very quickly. We really appreciated the fact that our guide speaks English very well and gave us a lot of interesting information. We enjoyed the tour, we have beautiful memories and the joy that we had a good guide and all the organization of the tour was carefully done.

I highly recommend taking this trip by plane. We booked less than 2 days in advance, there were almost no tickets left. We had business class seats to go. My name was wrong so I had to buy another ticket at the airport, maybe last seat on the plane. The agency was fair and deducted the amount from the total price agreed, very correct! From there, everything went very smooth. We were expected at the airport in Cairo by our guide Zenab and our driver. We had a private tour just for ourselves. We could go at our own pace. Zenab was a great guide and person. She was very welcoming and did her best to please us at all times. Overall, I totally recommend this travel agency, they are very thrust worthy and will guide you from and back to your hotel entrance. Thank you!!

Watch the sunrise from the top of Mount Sinai on a hiking trip from Sharm el Sheikh to one of Egypt’s highest mountains. You’ll climb the 7,497-foot (2,285-mt.) peak in the predawn darkness, see first light illuminate the mountaintop chapel and mosque, then descend to the 6th-century Monastery of St. Catherine, where Moses has seen the Burning Bush, as believed. With round-trip transport from Sharm el-sheik, this is a great way to experience Mount Sinai and St. Catherine even if you have limited time in Egypt.
Inclusions: St. Catherine National Park fees, Qualified Egyptologist guide, Local guide during your climbing the mount, Hotel/port pickup and drop-off, Round-trip transfer, Transport by vehicle
Exclusions: Gratuities, Food and Drinks
We booked this trip so that my boyfriend could see the pyramids on the day of his birthday. He's turning 30, and this was the ONLY request he had for the trip. I contacted them in the afternoon the day before the trip expecting more details/pick up time, to no response. However we held out faith. Packed our bag, decided to call it an early night and just before settling in for the night at 9.30 pm (pickup was scheduled for 5am) they cancelled the trip. They didn't offer any apologies, or provide a reason. An automated message saying our once in a lifetime trip was cancelled and we'd be refunded. They've ruined a massive milestone birthday for my boyfriend with no explanation and no direct contact. A refund isn't good enough. Do not book with them!
