Nasca Lines – The Sacred Landscape The lines are known as geoglyphs – drawings on the ground made by removing rocks and earth to create a “negative” image. The rocks which cover the desert have oxidized and weathered to a deep rust color, and when the top 12-15 inches of rock is removed, a light-colored, high contrasting sand is exposed. Because there’s so little rain, wind and erosion, the exposed designs have stayed largely intact for 500 to 2000 years. Scientists believe that the majority of lines were made by the Nasca people who flourished from around A.D. 1 to 700. Certain areas of the pampa look like a well-used chalk board, with lines overlapping other lines, and designs cut through with straight lines of both ancient and more modern origin.

After a 10 day Traveling adventure with a group through another traveling group, my friend and I opted for a private tour of Rainbow Mountain! Unfortunately it snowed on the day we reserved our tour; however it was one of our most enjoyable days due to the kindness of our guide Richard. He was very informative regarding the history and culture of the area and people. We were able to see some beautiful sites on the way to and home. We met some local folks, stopped by a lovely place to eat Los Cabanas and have coffee. The food was awesome!! Richard took some beautiful photos and was patient with us when we wanted to stop to view some sights/alpacas!! The time with Cusco Holiday Peru Servicios Turisticos was one of our most favorite and memorable!! Thanks for such a wonderful time and adventure!!

Our day led by Gabriella was well worth the extra expense of a private rather than group tour. Her enthusiasm and knowledge about the Lima's history, neighborhoods and cultural buildings made for a great orientation to the city. The itinerary was well organized given the volume of vehicle traffic, we also had ample time at each site, and never felt rushed. It's an excellent tour whether you have just a single day in Lima, or if you have more time later on to explore on your own. Thanks again!

The city tour was AWFUL. Our guide Diego was unprofessional, our van had 15 people and NO ac or windows he didn’t seem concerned that we were all uncomfortable. Rather he sat up front with the driver listening to music and didn’t interact with the clients. There were very few times during the hour car rides when he would point anything out at all; and when we asked questions he gave minimal responses. His knowledge on the sites appeared limited and he majority of topics circled back to global warming or aliens. He shouldn’t have this job. Period. The entire group was disappointed, at least we were all able to connect through that. He wasn’t physically able to Guide us through some of the physical sites, as a result we were received minimal information about these areas. So incredibly disappointed. We had a great experience with the trekking portion with Fredy Zapata, please see post on that.

I have heard so much about the Ballestas Islands (Poor Man Galapagos Islands). I made a special effort. As all the hotels were booked on hotels.com and there were no flights from Lima to Pisco on 12/31/19, I took the bus to Pisco, stayed in a hotel overnight, took a taxi in the morning to reach Paracas hotel. The tour company was nice and tour guide was nice but in the 2 hour trip, you see only many birds and small number of sea lions and Penguins. Unfortunately on this tour, you can not get on the island or swim in the water. You can see all this wild life along with swimming with sea lions on Palomino Island tours at Lima. So I wasted two days from Lima and coming back. I had a much better experience at Palomino Islands tour.
Our tour is a private tour that makes this experience unique and personalize. Having a lot of adventures, learning about Pisco and enjoying the nature.
Inclusions: Snacks, Private transportation, buggies
Exclusions: Lunch, Alcoholic Beverages
We booked our city tour with Bite Peru on the recommendation of our tour operator. And to our surprise my wife and I got a personalized tour of the city by the company owner Rueben. He is an engaging and knowledgeable tour guide. We did a walking tour the old city, got a good historical overview of Peru and Lima, insights into Peruvian life and culture and he answered all of our questions. He has an excellent command of English. It felt like our best friend was taking us on a trip through his home town. The highlight was our introduction to Pisco Sour and a couple of delicious Peruvian dishes. We highly recommend Bite Peru.
This three-hour cruise on our yacht will take you around the Ballestas Islands. This archipielago is officially used by authorities to harvest guano every five years. In the meantime, it's part of a huge system of protected areas where fauna concentrates. Sea lions, penguins and shorebirds are easy to spot during this activity. Enjoy on-board small bites and refreshments.
Inclusions: Small bites of seafood, Alcoholic Beverages, Soda/Pop, Bottled water, Restroom on board, All Fees and Taxes
Exclusions: Private transportation
