Fontainhas is not only one of the oldest but the most picturesque area in Goa. The only area still preserved as part of the Latin colony. The people of this area have managed to still keep its quaint familiar charm. The beautiful decorated ‘Azulejos’, the narrow alleys of this neighborhood gives way to striking views of the cityscape. Our tour begins in Fontainhas and will pass through some key areas before heading to a local tavern for shot of Feni, a local drink.

The discovery begins with the local Tinto (Market) where all the produce from the three villages are sold. Then we witness the large sized conventional machinery that are used to squeeze coconut oil in the purest form. The British have their mark in the making of the village transport system that still carry memories of the colonial past. We explore different items and stories of how the Portuguese developed trade in this region with the help of the British. Not to forget the tales of the legends of the village that have aided the liberation movement in Goa. Following which we head to the oldest church in the village that was known to have been connected by a waterway in the past. Finally, the infamous mystery behind the three kings chapel and why it became popular as the most haunted place in Goa.

We were guided by Mario on the tour who was very curt and professional. He waited patiently as well as we were 5 minutes late. The introduction was really good and informational and as it progressed we came to know about a lot of new information. The walk was also a really nice one. It could have been a bit more engaging. Since we were just 2 folks, we had the whole walk to us but the experience was kind of stretchy a few times. Probably some kind of activity could have been introduced. We give it a 4/5. Thanks Anirban

Explore this beautiful Island and its star attraction - The Salim Ali Bird sanctuary. We set out on a boat through the backwaters enveloped by the mangrove forest and soon you would be perking up their ears to the sounds of bird life teeming around. Open your senses to nature as you spot birds, crocodiles and various species of Mangroves. There would be learning about the gooing lumps like active little volcanoes all along the pathway were actually mud crabs at work, the loud clickety clicks were the sounds made by fiddler crabs with their large single claws. The Island has more than nature to it right from the Devaki Krishna Temple that had been relocated during the Portuguese rule and a 450 year old Church with numerous stories tied to it.

Aldona is the most beautiful village in the world? How often do you hear the whole village saying that? Wherever you go in the village and whoever you spoke to – you would hear only one thing – It is the most beautiful village in the world. Asking them, how many villages have you been to is not a valid question. They are simply in love with their village! There are some very interesting stories that we uncover in this trail - one of how a celebrated educationist was honoured with a statue in the center of the village square, The Sao Tome church built in 1596 CE on a plateau next to Mapusa river, The Bridges of Aldona and the Corjuem Fort. A visit to a prominent house is the village is also a part of the trail

From the times of tobacco trade to the minting of coins and the final administrative center of the Portuguese, Panjim has seen it all. With a special focus on the Fontainhas area, we discover the Making of Panaji. We learn how ‘Nova Goa’ developed as the new capital city after Old Goa crumbled down with the disease. We listen to stories about The Adilshah Palace, Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, St Sebastian Chapel, the narrow lanes bearing hallmarks of the long Portuguese regime in Goa. In addition, we will visit one of the first houses in this area and join the owner as he shows you around.
