Been there yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere is very simple and mostly local, it as packed with people for good reason - the food came quick, 1/2 portion was huge and yummy, service was really nice (don't know why people complain about it, our waiter was super nice!), ordered glass of wine but got a small jug that lasted for 4 glasses and price is very cheap (16.25 Euro for 2 people). absolutely recommended!

Great location with sheltered views of the sunset. Friendly staff. Life doesn't get much better than this... Then - dinner arrived! Fish mangled as though rescued from cat. Plain boiled potatoes with too much salt. Overboiled cabbage, worse than school dinners. Such a disappointment, as the fish is presumably fresh -- if only they knew how to cook! One of the worst meals we've ever had. There are plenty of other places in Espinho that take more care with their cooking, none of them more expensive and some of them considerably cheaper. Beware! Wish we'd had a camera to capture the full horror of it all.

We visited on the last night of our stay. My wife was extremely ill after eating here. We both had Pasta but it was not properly cooked, and it just tasted of tomato sauce, we should have returned the food but instead we ate it , big mistake on our part.We don't know what caused one of us to be violently ill , but please think twice before eating here , especially the seafood.Your premise is severely flawed. Had the seafood been at fault, you too would have gotten sick with food poisoning, considering both your meals had the exact same ingredients--save for the sauce, which was only partially different (yes, even the heavy cream used to concoct it was from the same container). This is logical. If anything, your pasta contained a greater variety of seafood, whereas hers only had prawns (the same ones you had, mind you). So, Ron, why didn't you get sick? I also find it suspicious that I got clean plates when I went back to your table and, upon asking if the pastas had been to your liking, I got a positive response (before the whole throwing up ordeal). I'm not being whiny, but merely telling you to consider the fact that maybe your wife was just feeling under the mood that night, before slandering a business with what you think _may_ have happened.-- Cristiano

We went for lunch. The menu was chosen by our business colleague. Cod in a kind of batter and prawns in garlic for starter. The prawns were the freshest and tastiest Iâve ever had. For main, we had seabass accompanied by vegetables and a tomato rice side (local speciality). The sea bass was again very fresh, moist and tasty. The accompanying wine was excellent.I would definitely return.

Huge servings. Great family restaurant. We ordered a chicken and fries platter and cod fish platter. Both were perfect! Service was fantastic and super quick. Great location and great prices. One of my favs in Portugal thus far.

We were there in the early evening and as we opened the door a waiter was already on his way to welcome us and brought us to a quiet and nice table in the non-smoking area. The service was superb all over time we were sitting there. Because we ate a lot of fish the last days we ordered the steak with chips (15⬠each, which is a very good price) and it tasted wonderful. If you like steak you'll definitly be lucky here. As a starter we ordered melon with high quality bacon. It was as amazing as the steak. Whoever wants to go out and eat some good food and have an amazing old-school service with great and humorous waiters has to go the "A Cabana" . We had a great time! (M/W, 25yrs)

To get to this place was not easy as it was a little difficult to find. We heard about it from a local Portuguese barman. When we arrived, the restaurant didn't look great, but we went inside anyway...after that, it was one of the best moments of the holiday. The owner is a Sporting Lisbon fan and the lady who served us spoke perfect french. She was extremely nice, and showed me all the fresh fish in the kitchen and asked me to choose what we would like.No menu.....you choose...just perfect.Served with fresh vegetables and great potatoes.Excellent wine, not expensive.Everyone there was Portuguese and there was a great atmosphere, it was like everybody knew everybody.Nice to be in a real Portuguese place with no tourists for once.Thank you and Go Sporting.......

We found this fabulous family run restaurant. Itâs worth making the effort to find it to enjoy the authentic Portuguese home cooking. The welcome was warm and genuine from the family and local Portuguese diners too.The menu is in multiple languages (and google translate helps too), seafood dishes are the house specialities. The portions are large, the quality exceptional and the local wine selection very affordable. The experience was so outstanding we came back three more times. We tried most of the menu and my favourite is the seafood skewer but everything was superb.

My wife and I had dinner here on our first night in Porto. The grilled octopus was excellent. Grilled cod was very good. Portions are huge. Suggest couples share an appetizer and an entree. Wine was expensive. Our Uber driver warned us that all the restaurants near the water rate expensive, he was right.
