Great Cockcrow Railway

Reviewed By bottomleybradley2015 - Hastings, United Kingdom

What a great railway, the staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. My friend and I have never visited before, we got a really good welcome form one member of staff who on noticing we worked for a Heritage Railway got a great tour of the loco sheds and a ride before it opened to the public which was great. After this we bought ticket for another ride and bought on for the trip we had. The track layout is great, it’s a good 10 minute ride which is well worth the ticket price, will highly recommend friends to visit this railway, a true hidden gem.

St Giles Church

We attended an afternoon communion service whilst visiting family in Ashtead. It was a lovely service in a beautiful church. Interior was bright, modern and had a lovely stained glass window. Vicar very nice and had a nice friendly manner when preaching.

St George's Church - Esher

Reviewed By Mb7400 - London, United Kingdom

After realising that I had made a faux-pas over the Ts and Cs, regarding the rules of eating at 50 percent off in August, accidentally (entirely), earlier in the late afternoon, I decided to stop off here, and ask the ‘Big Man upstairs’ for immediate forgiveness ???? He reminded me, so very much, of the Man from Del Monte - he had said a big ‘yes.’ I felt relieved. All joking aside - this is a fantastic, historic church - Tudor, I estimate, albeit I could be wrong. Historic - in as much as Queen Victoria used to worship here, when she was residing at her residence in nearby Claremont. The Church, per se, is non functioning - in terms of being able to host weddings, funerals, christenings, services of worship but is open to the public, apparently, on some days (non Covid period). Parking is readily available - nearby - free, for two hours max. Plus there are many wooden benches to sit down, and relax on. Well worth a visit, if in the Esher area.

St Augustine's Abbey, Chilworth

Reviewed By barringtonbunterpat - Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom

Amazing that these Benedictine monks at St Augustine's Abbey, Chilworth receive scores of prayer requests from all over the world via their website and that this tiny, unknown and beautiful part of the Surrey countryside is such a prayerful place.

Epsom Playhouse

Generally pantomimes are not a favourite of mine but ,having made an exception, I was spellbound by this excellent production. The cast was superb and, apart from the usual laughs, the second half was an astounding experience once the 3 d glasses were used. I was attacked by all manner of snakes etc.The venue has an excellent bar , great staff and comfortable seats. We are returning this month.

Located off the main road which runs through Cobham High Street, in the direction of Tilt Green and Stoke D’Abernon. My dog required a cooling down after an hour of American Football elsewhere and enjoyed the swim in the river a great deal.

RAF Kenley

Reviewed By C5060EKmatthewp - Brighton and Hove, United Kingdom

Great "Free" open space on the downs where you can just chill out on bikes, feet, scooters etc with kids or dogs and just enjoy nature and catch some great fresh air. If you want to explore a little there's still quite a few WWII remnants on the periphery of the airfield which will help your imagination to take you back to when this place was a full on RAF station with Spitfires & Hurricanes scrambling to see off the menace of invading Luftwaffe fighters & bombers.
