Kit Mikayi is situated in Kisumu district, Maseno division, East – Seme – location, Kit – Mikayi sub-location, Kangeso village, Kadol clan. The rock which is about 70 to 80 ft tall is located 30 km far east of Kisumu city and 1 km from Kisumu Bondo road. We will see the signboard that is on the gate of Kit Mikayi, and then we'll enter the N’gop-Ngeso primary school.

Just about one hour drive from the Voi Safari Lodge towards the Manyana Gate, there is a small turn off leading to Mudanda Rock. You are allowed to park the Car and walk a few steps up to the top of the Rock. The amazing view with a huge waterhole full of wild live is the reward for the small walk.

Have your guide drive you up the bush tracks as close as you can get to the volcano. It was a massive eruption when it happened as evidence of extensive lava flows are everywhere. That being said, game is scarcer in this area because of the difficulty of animals to walk over the lava. Heavy bush country surrounds the flows and you can spot some exceptional birds and bush dwellers.
