I was so looking forward to this, and it certainly did not disappoint. Beautiful beach with gorgeous icebergs and black sand. Quite busy at the main part, but as soon as you start walking down the beach you're alone.

An incredible view. A short drive off of the main N1 route on a pretty rough and bumpy road (however no 4x4 needed) brings you to a parking space. From there one can take a walk along the side of the mountain on the glacial lake. Crampons are essential in winter, the track is very slippery, steep and narrow. If you slip you will end up in the lake 20+ meters below. The views are totally worth it, sunset there is beautiful. The ice is an amazing blue colour and can be heard cracking and groaning as it slips slowly down the mountain side. One can apparently walk all the way to the glacier but I was unable to as I didn’t have the correct equipment.

It's a short hike (1 hour) up to the sound sculpture. A little steep, but not hard. The views of the fjord are great, and it's fun playing with the sound effects of the sculpture. Also good picnic spot.

Without knowing too much about this monument, it was a stark contrast to see hunks of metal jutting from rocks in a desolate area.

Lindarbakki is the last dwelled turf house in Iceland. When I discovered so, I remained enchanted and stayed opposite the house in admiration, studying the caption affixed at the entrance for tourists. Elísabet has been taking care of the house for forty years, after buying it with her husband, who unfortunately died in 1987, and she still lives here during the hottest months (mid-May to the end of August). According to the description, the inside of the house is about 30 squared meters, it’s heated by an old oil heater and is provided by a well, accessible from a cellar. I would like to say congratulations to this strong woman and to the people who still help her carrying on her vision.
