I was looking for a nice place to enjoy with my family on a Sunday. Had been hearing about The Wharf in Fort Lauderdale and after enjoying The Wharf in Miami decided to check this new venue out. Had a great time enjoying the vibe and ambiance as well as the delicious food trucks. All this thanks to the hostess Maria who was so accommodating and personable. Highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to enjoy a day out in the open.

Nestled in the heart of a modern downtown, History Fort Lauderdale's campus includes 3 museums that tell the story of how a wartime fort became a modern city. The campus is the largest collection of historic buildings remaining in Broward County. The History Museum, housed in the 1905 New River Inn, contains exhibits from prehistoric through present day. The Pioneer House Museum (1907) is set as if the family will return at any moment for Sunday supper. Upstairs tour Louise King's sewing room, family bedrooms with period sleepwear, children's room with period dollhouse and antique dolls. The 1899 Schoolhouse Museum is complete with period wooden desks and textbooks. Guided tours of all 3 museums begin every day at 1 PM, 2 PM and 3PM.
Easy Place to hangout for an Hour or two, also close to riverwalk and the water taxi station. Make's for a fun afternoon.

It was nice to casually walk the neach front and pier. Watching people fishing and enjoying the day. Children were loving it. Plus they have a covered area to where you can just soak in the breeze.

I remember when this house was located on Dixie Highway and used as a homeless encampment. I drove past it every day and it was so sad to see it in it's decrepit state. Since then the house has been moved to it's new location and lovingly restored. It's picture perfect now. I visited recently when they were hosting their sixth annual classic car show. Our family has a 1915 Model T that was displayed. The house was built in 1916 making our car one year older than the house! A five dollar admission got you into the show and a home tour making for a fun afternoon. They had a food truck and DJ in addition to all of the cars on display. I always love to pay a visit to the house. On the ground floor there is a living room, dining room and kitchen complete with butlers pantry. The second floor houses a room they use for changing exhibits (on this occasion there was clothing worn by the Seminole nation), a child's room, and a bedroom with a wedding dress. The wood used in the house has been completely restored and it smells so good, like a natural pine air freshener. There are two gazebos on the grounds and the house makes a lovely back drop for the weddings held there. Also every October the Women's Rotary Club of Pompano hosts a haunted house. My daughter volunteered this year doing make up for them and it's always a popular event. There aren't too many historical gems in Pompano so this house is a real treasure. It's definitely worth a visit, even more so when they hold an event.

On Oct 3, 2009, when the Temple was announced, I'm sure that most couldn't quite grasp as to how beautiful the building would become. Ground was broken on Jun 7, 2011 and a little less than 3 years later, the Temple opened for "open house", which is basically the only time that non-members can enter this Temple. On May 4, 2014, the Temple was dedicated. It was the 143rd Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church). The Temple was given a 2014 South-East Engineering Award for best built building. It is a 28,000-square-foot building described as "an interpretation of Neoclassicism with arches, columns and a steeple." The temple features a sun and palm tree motif with beautiful murals in the first-stage endowment room, inspired by local landscapes. Though as a non-member you can only view the exterior of the building, you are free to roam the immaculately manicured grounds and admire the Temple.
