Lingering over pain au chocolat in a sidewalk café, relaxing after a day of strolling along the Seine and marveling at icons like the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe… the perfect Paris experience combines leisure and liveliness with enough time to savor both an exquisite meal and exhibits at the Louvre. Awaken your spirit at Notre Dame, bargain hunt at the Marché aux Puces de Montreuil or for goodies at the Marché Biologique Raspail, then cap it all off with a risqué show at the Moulin Rouge.

This is a very long "pathway", a straight road that extends for several kilometres. It was originally conceived as a sort of path to and from the gardens of the royal Palace of the Tuileries. Along the way there are several monuments, arches and the like, like the Arc de Triomphe. The beautiful Champs Elysees is central to this long road. Worth a look.

We were heading for the Musee National Jean-Jacque Henner when we passed this monument to had to stop to investigate. We were surprised to find that it was a monument to Alexandre Dumas as my husband is a great fan and enjoyed reading his books. Nice big statue stands on a small grassy area., a Musketeer, presumably D'Artagnan , lounges on the opposite side of the great man himself. However it is surrounded by a very busy road
