This is a huge park near the airport. There is a lot to do here: fields/courts for sports, playgrounds, pond with fishing, picnic areas, dog park, and walking trails. There are food places around the area if you have an impromptu picnic. If you do have a picnic there, watch out for the disc golfers!

Idlewild Park

Reviewed By MariaDabaghchian

A very pleasant park with grass and trees and a beautiful rose garden. Sited on the south side of the Truckee River in a pleasant residential neighborhood, it is a pleasure on its own or as an extension to Reno's Riverwalk. A very pleasant Sunday experience: Start at the west end of Idlewild, stroll the pathways going east to the end of the park and the cross on the mixed (traffic and pedestrians) bridge to the north side of the river and follow the Riverwalk down to the restaurant district (begins just a little east of Arlington). 3 historic churches are also close by Trinity, with magnificent stained glass windows, St. Thomas with amazing doors and the gothic revival First United Methodist Church. Strolling back along the Riverwalk after lunch brings you to a pleasant plaza between Washington and Winter streets where coffee and ice cream parlors afford a pleasant break before continuing back into Idlewild where you may like to take a turn around the little lake, as well as wandering along the path near the river.

Uptown Jungle

Reviewed By canterburyshoe

They have only been open a couple of weeks and still working out the kinks. We took the grandkids early in he morning during the week and had the whole place to ourselves. The foam ball shooters were not working and they were working on them but everything else the kids wanted to do was working. They have several big slides, a trampoline area and several climbing areas for smaller kids. The kids had a great time and so did I. We will definitely take the kids back there when we go back to see them in the fall.

I loved the zip line and obstacle course. But if you are afraid of heights then i recommend you don't do the zip line or the obstacle course!
