From the very start was warmly welcoming. The tantalizing smells were surpassed by more delicious tastes of the many pizza choices. I tried several over a 4 day stay. Always the current one became my favorite. But the friendliness of the staff could rival its tastiness. There are many pizzerias in this beautiful town but don't waste your time--THIS IS THE BEST!
vari tipi di pane molto buoni posto semplice però eccezionale per fare uno snack dato che alla mattina Noi mangiamo parecchio a colazione e poi rimandiamo alla sera anche cose tipiche da poter stuzzicare.

When approaching this place on the edge of the village first impression is of an ugly 1960s building waiting to be demolished. The picture is complete with several dogs barking through the gloom. The restaurant inside looks cavernous when few folk are in and nondescript. Then comes the food. This place does fantastic pizza. It's not haute cuisine but for place to take a hungry group it can't be beaten. Careful with too many starters - extremely generous and all fresh. You will struggle to spend more than £10 a head including very drinkable montepulciano at â¬5 a bottle. Goes to show that a place which relies on local custom rather than tourists can be outstanding for its type. And service to match.

We had gone to Lake Scanno with some friends but unfortunately the weather was awful when we got there. On the way to Scanno we noticed this restaurant so rather than walk round Scanno in the rain we decided to stop here. It was lunchtime and there was only one other couple in. There was a gentleman there, I am presuming the owner, who was very friendly. They don't give you a menu so you have no idea of the prices. We had antipasto to start and then two types of pasta followed by grilled meat for main course. All in all we all thought it was OK, and the wine was fine. I have since read mixed reviews but I think you have to try it for yourself to see. Unfortunately I have no idea what the bill came to as our friends were paying.

Ristorante-Pizzeria
We stumbled upon this family-run restaurant in the picturesque hilltop village of Scanno and were not disappointed!! If you're looking for Michelin starred presentation this won't be the place, but if it's genuine, delicious, Italian home cooking this is for you!!. We ordered 3 things and another 7 or so came out - free of charge - such as the plate with the zucchini frittata and pickled vegetables and a very large plate of tomato bruschetta. With the lamb dish that my husband ordered, an entree of lamb's liver, his favourite thing, was a bonus, coming out before the cutlets and so it went. The grand-daughter was our waitress, her mum the cook and the grandad was just keeping an eye on things to make sure everything was ok. Every so often, the mum came out of the kitchen to make sure we were enjoying it all and to explain that everything was home grown from the lamb to the vegetables. Even with a huge language barrier, we were able to communicate and our feast cost 33 euros for two of us, which was excellent value. This also included the two desserts which were not charged for as well as the liqueur that went with it. This was a wonderful place to lunch and well worth the trip up the mountain, via beautiful Lago di Scanno to eat here and see the incredible town of Scanno, one of the most picturesque places I have ever been to.

This is a very small pizzeria where you can only have pizza and drinks. Pizzas are extremely thin, very good but you need at least one and a half to satiate your hunger.

We visit Scanno very often, because here born father of my boyfriend. I can say that this place is not only beautiful because of architecture and nature, pure water from the mountains and clean air, also local food and products are quality and tasty! In this restaurant we go regularly. Pizza here more than delicious, starters with local fresh cold cuts and cheese, of course all kinds of pasta, meat and WINE. Special mention for broccoletti, which flowers full of antioxidants. All home made bread included. What else. Service is very professional and you can be sure that in this atmosphere you will enjoy the real taste of Abruzzo.

La Valle was within easy walking distance of our Scanno hotel, so we stopped by for dinner. We found it to be warm with good food and friendly staff. Although we were only in Scanno for one night and didn't get to eat anywhere else (so no comparisons in Scanno), this restaurant was a solid choice for dinner.

On the recommendation of our innkeeper, we tried La Baita for dinner one night. The pizza was terrific and the house wine was delicious. Service was so-so, but it got busy shortly after we arrived And we had wine, so we were ok with that.
