Things to do in Scilla

We were here on a mid-week lunch in June. There were lots of people sitting here, while most restaurants in the area were empty. The pizzas were good: nothing to scream about, but some nice pizzas calabria-style. The ice cream should be the house specialty, but it's one of the worse I've had. Basically, just a sugary cream, no real flavour or subtlety. The staff was friendly and the prices were cheap, but if I'd come here only for the ice cream I would have been really disappointed.

We had been in the mountainous part of Calabria for a few days, and had meat dishes for several nights. While great, we were ready for some fish. What better place than a restaurant that is 2 meters from the sea?? Unfortunately, the food was very mediocre. The seafood salad was many days old; a real embarrassment. The service indifferent.I would say "avoid," but we had difficulty finding a decent place for dinner in Scilla. Lunch and dessert were, fortunately, much more positive experiences.

The waitress refused to give us the menu saying that she will brief us with what they offer. (A very clever way to let you order the most expensive dishes). We were two persons she didn't mind to let us order 2 anti-pasti without mentioning that each dish is for 4 persons (Fortunately we got it back before it was too late and cancelled 1 order). We had "frutti di mare pasta" as a main dish and it was a disaster: The mussels were not well cooked, the sauce incoherent, the dish was rancid. It ruined our evening.

Potete trovare ottimi rustici e altre specialità gastronomiche a prezzi onesti (per esempio arancino pesce spada a 2â¬).Il personale è molto cortese e garbato. Passateci se siete nei dintorni.

While sunbathing at the beautiful Scilla beach we opted for a lunch here. The restaurant is in the front street by the beach with outdoor seating. We chose it because they had original wood fired pizza oven. The pizzas were delicious with great toppings and crispy. Same was with the prices, around 5 euros each, very affordable and recommending. The only down is no wifi.

Super consigliato

During our recent amazing, fantasic, memorable holiday in Scilla (yes, we enjoyed it very much), we twice ate pizza from this lovely little spot.Although the tourist season was over, and the tables and chairs just outside were stacked away, it was stil a warm, balmy evening (we are English, so to us, it is warm all year round in Scilla!), and without us asking, the owner put a table and a couple of chairs out for us. He also helped me practice my Italian! The pizzas were delicious: thin, crispy base, flavoursome sauce and just the right amount of toppings and cheese...why can't the local pizza places in England make pizza properly; they are always too thick, too much cheese...!The prices were also amazing when compared to the ridiculous amounts that pizza restaurant chains in the UK charge.Sat outside on Scilla's main piazza, on a warm evening in October, eating tasty pizza, drinking a cold beer and chatting to the locals in Italian.....life at its best.

Nice and quite place right in front of the beach, I loved the pizza in this restaurant, the waitress was lovely and the homemade tiramisu was divine. ask for a table near the window you will have a nice beach view that you will never forget. MUST TRY!

This is a lively little bar/restaurant, which serves delicious sandwiches, pizzas and snacks. The owner was very friendly indeed, and made our visit memorable, as did another group of foreign visitors who asked if he was Signor Mordi or Signor Fuggi. We did laugh.Really great value for money; generous portions for low prices.I'd recommend anyone to visit; we did twice!
